"By the time he regains consciousness, some opportunities might slip away completely. Plus, he'll probably try to shield me using his own methods. Getting him on board could drag on forever, and I might fail entirely," I explained. "That's why I've settled on this approach."
"But what happens if you run into his old man before Mr. Hamilton even shows up? That bastard's got ice in his veins—if he chooses to eliminate you on the spot, how will you handle it?"
Dalton burst out.
"Then I'll eliminate him first," I fired back instantly. "If Jensen has to die, I'd prefer to be the one who does it."
"What?" Dalton gawked at me briefly, unable to process what he'd just heard.
I gave a slight smirk. "Shocked? Remember my background. When it's survival of the fittest, you remove the danger. Compassion isn't in my playbook, Dalton. I've never been one to show weakness."
