"From the first quarter till now. We have invested nearly four billion. Yet we haven't got a clear result" Secretary Nicolas was explaining the situation of the pheromone gland cancer research to Maxwell.
"The board is putting more pressure on us" Edwin continued. "Some shareholders agreed that by betting it all on the research to develop a pheromone gland cancer drug is you using Kant pharmaceutical for your personal gain"
Maxwell sighed his face downcasted. "What did the PR department say?"
"Its not good. The negative public opinion is affecting our stock price. More worse, KB group said that the relevant department has approved that their targeted drug is likely to pass phase three testing within two years,entering the market in advance. But this might just be fake news put out by KB group to stimulate the stock price". Edwin explained and saw the worry lines on Maxwell's forehead. "Don't worry to much Mr Kant"
Maxwell stood up. "How can I not worry". He walked a few steps forward. "Hundreds of billions were burned out but no progress. In order to leave enough authority to the lab,I carried out the reform of the research center and touched the shares of those old men on the board. At this rate there'll be more and more objections. Kant pharmaceutical will be besieged sooner or later" Maxwell placed his hands on his waist.
"The leaders of the research teams have issued orders to make everyone work overtime. As for personnel,we've been trying to recruit experts in the field too". Edwin expatiated.
"Got it" Maxwell said about to leave the conference hall.
"One more thing" Edwin said
"What?"
"We received news that the owner of X holdings will be coming to the state soon. They may be seeking new partners"
Maxwell was interested. "Have you verified the news?"
"Yes,I've checked. They will be organizing a special exchange meeting. They've sent invitations to top pharmaceutical companies in the state. I heard that person also will be coming to the state to meet the final partner selected"
"Really? That's good". Maxwell's mood brightened. "As long as we get close to X holdings we won't be stuck in a weak position to get the patent to the targeted drug. I believe that if Peem Ronald can get it,we can also get it too" He sat down feeling assured.
"But--"
"But what?"
"Kant pharmaceutical isn't on the invitation list" Edwin announced.
"Why?". Maxwell was surprised.
"The public relations team are still working on it. That's strange. After all there are many companies invited that are far inferior to us". Edwin explained.
"Report to me as soon as you find out the reason". Maxwell commanded.
Edwin nodded.
"Edwin which representative did X holdings send this time"
"Chang Ping"
"Got it,you may leave". Maxwell replied massaging his forehead.
Edwin didn't leave immediately. "Sir,your rut period is approaching right?"
"Yes"
"You look tired,take care of yourself. Nothing is more important than health". Edwin adviced
"Okay,I get. Thank you". Maxwell nodded.
Why did they leave Kant pharmaceutical out of the invitation list? Last time I even saw Chang Ping. I didn't offend him. I could we be targeted?
Maxwell thought.

Maxwell made sure he attended the exchange meeting to seek the favor of Chang Ping. However he was in his rut and it wasn't advisable to be in public. He staggered while waiting for Edwin. Edwin walked over to him hurriedly.
"Is Chang Ping here?" Maxwell asked.
"Yes,but he didn't take the front door, he went straight to the VIP lounge from the back door. There are a few bodyguards in front of the lounge.They are turning his visitors away. We can't go to see him yet". Edwin said.
"Okay. Let's try to get a chance to drink a toast to him". Immediately Maxwell stopped talking he staggered almost falling,fortunately Edwin was present to steady him.
"Mr Kant,what's wrong?"
"Nothing". Maxwell touched the inhibitor patch on the back of his neck. "I don't know why but this susceptible period is different. I can't really control myself"
"You're sweating a lot,the inhibitor patch is drenched. I brought some spare ones. Would you like to change into a new one in the restroom?" Edwin asked.
"Yes". Maxwell nodded and quickly rushed towards the restroom with his secretary on his tail. Thankfully there were no people around,because when his pheromone was released as he took off his inhibitor patch they would have been affected. It was only Edwin waiting for him outside.
Chang Ping suddenly walked into the restroom,he immediately sensed the pheromones then spotted Maxwell gasping weakly trying to put on the inhibitor patch on his neck while Edwin also rushed in from outside trying to defend Maxwell,though he was also affected by the scent.
"Secretary Chang sorry". Edwin said.
"Mr Kant is in there?". Chang Ping asked but didn't wait for Edwin's reply before lashing out at Maxwell. "Mr Kant,isn't this too much? You're using your pheromones to have the whole washroom to yourself. So this is the arrogance of Kant pharmaceutical that they speak of?" When he was done talking he walked away.
Maxwell was weak, he didn't even have the energy to explain himself though he had managed to put on the patch. He washed his hands and walked out of the restroom with Edwin.

This was the second time Maxwell got drunk while attending banquets since Ricky moved in. Ricky opened the door and saw Edwin steadying Maxwell's body with his. Seeing him,Edwin passed Maxwell over to Ricky who opened his arms to take him.
"Mr Kant you look pale". Ricky commented but Maxwell only snuggled in Ricky's arms.
"Orchid-scented..... Smells so good". Maxwell mumbled.
"Mr Kant,are you feeling unwell?" Ricky asked worried. "Go to bed and lie down okay?"
Maxwell placed his lips beside Ricky's ear. "I feel so terrible"
"I know,let me take you to bed okay?" Ricky coaxed him.
"Okay". Maxwell pouted resting his head on Ricky's shoulder comfortably.
Ricky had almost forgotten that Edwin was still in front of them. He chuckled softly. "Secretary Nicolas. Thank you. Leave Mr Kant to me. I'll take care of him"
Edwin nodded and closed the door leaving behind the drunk Maxwell with Ricky.
Ricky held Maxwell supporting him as they managed to walk to the bedroom,that was difficult as Maxwell kept sniffing at and kissing Ricky's neck. Ricky took off his suit trying to help him undress so he won't feel so hot anymore but Maxwell held onto Ricky kissing him and running his hand through Ricky's body.
"Mr Kant let go of me". Ricky pretended to be frightened. "How can I help you change when you're like this?"
"I don't want to change,I want to sleep with you like this". Maxwell said stupidly.
Ricky ignored his comment and held him down on the bed but Maxwell refused to let go. "If you don't pull your clothes, how can you sleep like this?"
"I'm not sleepy. Ricky I feel terrible". Maxwell was hugging Ricky's neck tightly while rubbing his back making Ricky sigh so much. Doesn't your heart ache for me at all?"
"Of course it does". Ricky said sincerely. "Lie down properly" When Ricky saw that Maxwell was not yielding,he comforted Maxwell with his pheromone. The drunk cutie fell asleep instantly stopping his tantrums.
"Mr Kant,do you like my comforting pheromone? Have a sweet dream". Ricky planted a soft kiss on Maxwell's lips. "Good night"
