Chapter 28 - CHAPTER 28. BUSINESS RIVALRY

As Maxwell walked the doctor out they engaged in a more serious conversation.

"Mr Kant, your last rut period you had a pheromone disorder and lost an important client because of it. Does that still happen?"

"I haven't lost control recently but I've been feeling exhausted and weak all over for no reason". Maxwell replied.

"Your next rut is approaching right?". The doctor questioned

Maxwell thought for a while. "Yes,in a few days"

"As a high level Alpha this should be rare,if it were an Omega I would suspect targeted luring pheromones from an Alpha causing passive heat". Matt sighed. "But as an S-class Alpha, that's unlikely. Most likely, work stress is causing transient pheromone disorder. You're young, Mr Kant. Take care of yourself first. Career is a sprint not a marathon". Matt advised.

"Thanks Doctor Matt. I understand". Maxwell nodded.

"Another thing,Mr Kant. As an S-class Alpha, the patient is still too weak to tolerate Alpha scents". The doctor referred to Ricky and Maxwell glanced over at the quiet beauty sitting obediently on the sofa. "To prevent secondary harm from passive heat". The doctor continued. "When you are during your rut, keep some distance from the patient. I'll prescribe the same Omega calming pheromone spray as last time. It should help".

Maxwell looked down wright calm hearing that. "Okay, thanks doctor"

*************

"We've recruited an elite team from Wall Street's top firms specifically for this short-selling plan. KB group has concentrated equity structure with a high proportion of pledged shares. If the value of Peem Ronald's pledged shares drops drastically,he'll have to inject cash flow to cover the deficit to avoid forced liquidation". Edwin Nicolas briefed Maxwell on the current progress of their Firm and Misfortune of KB group.

"That's good. This makes it easier for our bidding team to snatch their projects". Maxwell smiled mischievously.

"Mr Kant, those projects require huge capital investment. Peem will be stretched thin trying to cover the market value loss. Also our bidding team has completed preliminary talks with the design institute. Many standards in the project blueprints already favor us". Edwin completed his report.

Maxwell looked at Edwin wickedly. "Edwin"

"Sir"

"I want their stock price below IPO within a week"

Edwin chuckled. "Mr Kant, you're being too conservative. Based on the plan you drafted. Peem Ronald will count himself lucky if he avoids forced liquidation"

Days passed and Maxwell made progress, stealing proposals and projects that should originally belong to Peem. He was so angry at Peem that he wanted him to go down the drain for what he supposedly did to Ricky.

On Peem's end was frustration and anger. He immediately called a board meeting with the heads of departments. As he entered the meeting room with Fadel behind him, everyone felt the coldness radiating from him. They dared not behave foolishly. They stood waiting for his order.

"Have a seat". Peem said coldly.

They all sat.

"Mr Ronald". An official began his own brief. "We lost all three projects we bid on recently"

Peem hissed. "Who won them?"

"Kant Biotech". The official answered. "They colluded on bids with ultra low prices sabotaging our efforts by all means "

"Mr Ronald". Another official spoke up. "Regulatory authorities received numerous reports alleging we manipulated our own stock. CSRC has launched a task force to investigate".

"Mr Ronald". The third official chipped in. "Our securities department got a query from the Country P's stock exchange. Regulators require us to explain promptly the project losses announced in our statement and restore investor confidence"

Fadel looked at Peem who seemed to have aged from listening to all those bad news. Apparently he had nothing to say. He looked helplessly at Fadel. There was no one who understood Peem better than Fadel.

"Its just a few projects". Fadel said to save Peems face. "Long-term,they won't affect the compay's operation. KB has robust cash flow, healthy debt-to-equity and profits. Short-term market fluctuations are just temporary competition"

Peem finally found his bearing. "Yes. Secretary Jackson summed it up well. Long-term,our diversified business structure and broader profit sources gives us stronger risk resistance. Also, the pheromone gland cancer targeted drug developed with X Holdings has completed formulation securing expedited clinical trial approval. It should launch soon"

"Yes". Fadel continued where Peem stopped. "Third party data shows pheromone gland cancer has five over hundred thousand incidence rate. The special drug's value is obvious. Launching it will elevate KB in pharmaceuticals and also open a massive revenue stream"

After the meeting ended Fadel went back to his office. He was hurt as always, reminded of the way Peem devalues him while knowing he was valuable to him (Peem). He couldn't focus on his work, his mind kept drifting to the hurtful words.

Don't come near me with that filthy Omega scent,it stinks.

As everyone knows,I hate Omega but Ricky Brown is the only one who interests me. His pheromone smells just like him, faint on normal days but surprisingly intense during heat. Like, the first night,he had a fever, derilous and called another Alpha's name right in front of me.

Fadel shook his head.

Mr Kant since you know him so well, guess who he cried out for that night while lying beside me.

Fadel sighed and took out his resignation later,he felt like a fool staying with Peem, tolerating all his nonsense. He had been thinking about his resignation for a while and had not been able submit a letter as he was reluctant to leave Peem's side. At the same time,he knew he was fooling himself if he stayed quiet like an idiot,he'll grow old waiting for Peem to love him.

Fadel signed on the resignation letter without batting an eyelid. What was left was the courage to to drop it on Peem's table.

"Secretary Jackson". The Secretary General suddenly entered his office.

He stood up immediately hiding the letter among piles of document on his desk. "Secretary General". He mumbled.

Fadel was given a thumbs up. "Secretary Jackson, your speech was brilliant"

Fadel forced a smile. "Thank you"

"These are tough times. Lucky Mr Ronald has a righ-hand man like you,so in tune with him. Otherwise he'll be even more stressed. Old classmates are different. One look from Mr Ronald and you already know exactly what to say. No wonder colleagues say he's more at ease in meetings with you around" Secretary General Pat was good with words.

Fadel nodded as he was given a friendly pat on the the shoulder.

"Alright,I won't keep you. I'll prepare the next meeting materials. Good luck". Pat walk out of the office.

Fadel should be glad he received such compliments but he didn't want them from Pat. He wanted Peem to say those words to him,if only Peem could compliment and acknowledge his importance,he would be over the moon.

He took out the resignation letter and stared at it for a while. "Let's push it later". He said and shredded it into tiny bits.
