Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13: ROCKS D XEBEC: What is your purpose in becoming a pirate?

"Would the host like to use a special lottery draw attempt?"

"Sure!!!"

Ding!

"Congratulations, host! You have inherited the complete Wind Release: Rasengan skill set from the Naruto world!"

"The Rasengan? That's no weak ability!"

The Rasengan was a ninjutsu created by the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, in the Naruto world. Inspired by the Tailed Beast Ball, he spent three years researching and developing it.

The Rasengan possessed immense power, and its true uniqueness lay in how it could evolve alongside its user's strength—a terrifying ninjutsu indeed!

However, El didn't need to evolve the Rasengan himself.

Thanks to the system's inheritance, he could directly unleash all forms of the Rasengan—

though techniques like Sage Art: Rasengan were excluded.

Since El hadn't yet mastered Sage Mode, he could only use the standard Rasengan variants.

But even those were formidable.

Every Rasengan technique El inherited was at least A-rank ninjutsu!

A special kind of energy began flowing through El's body.

That was the essence of the Rasengan.

In the original Naruto world, chakra was required to perform ninjutsu.

But in this pirate world, there was no such thing as chakra.

Therefore, the system had cleverly converted the energy source needed for ninjutsu into physical strength.

To be honest, the system was truly thoughtful.

A few seconds later, El had completely inherited all Rasengan techniques.

Without a doubt, his strength had multiplied several times over!

Then, his Status Panel appeared:

Host: El

Abilities:

Armament Haki (920 / 1000)

Observation Haki (920 / 1000)

Conqueror's Haki (800 / 1000)

Sage Body (20 / 2000) — Currently at Mid-Stage. Progress can be increased through training or combat.

Ninjutsu:

All Rasengan Techniques

Note: When the progress bar is full, the Sage Body will advance to the next stage, greatly enhancing physical strength, martial prowess, and recovery speed. Advancement also grants a chance at a special lottery draw.

Unlocked Special Ability:

Celestial Eyes (Will unlock once the host reaches the Advanced Stage of the Celestial Body.)

Tailed Beasts:

One-Tailed Beast (Unlocked)

Tailed Beast Ball (Unlocked)

Nine-Tails Chakra Mode (Unlocked)

Kurama Mode (Unlocked)

Note: Each time a Devil Fruit is offered to the Nine-Tails, more of its power will be unlocked.

A new category—Ninjutsu—had now appeared on the panel.

With the Rasengan fully inherited, El no longer needed to train in its techniques.

The destructive power of the Rasengan depended entirely on the user's own strength.

Once the Sage Body reached mid-stage, the required progress increased from the usual 1000 to 2000 points.

This didn't surprise El, nor did he care much. After all, the Rocks Pirates were the perfect place to hone one's skills.

After closing the status panel, El stood up and looked around, intending to test his newly acquired Rasengan.

However, after a brief moment of thought, he realized just how destructive the technique truly was—

if he used it here, he might destroy the entire room.

With a wry smile, he decided against it.

To quickly advance his Sage Body from the mid-stage to the advanced stage,

El began his daily training session within the room.

  ...

Time flew by, and night soon fell.

"Haa..."

El exhaled deeply. After half a day of intense training, his entire body was drenched in sweat.

"Ding! Congratulations, host. You have gained 2 points of progress in the Sage Body."

The system's mechanical voice echoed in his mind as the training session came to an end.

"Two points, huh…" El muttered with a faint smile. "Not much, but even a mosquito's leg is still meat."

Although the progress seemed small, every bit counted. Besides, his training didn't only advance the Sage Body—it also steadily strengthened his physical power.

After finishing his training, El headed into the private bathroom attached to his cabin and took a long, hot shower.

He had to admit—it felt good to be living in a cadre's quarters. Unlike ordinary crew members, the officers of the Rocks Pirates had personal rooms equipped with their own bathrooms. Regular sailors and trainees, on the other hand, either bathed together in the communal bathhouse or simply jumped into the sea.

Refreshed, El lay down on his bed, ready to fall asleep.

Thump, thump!

Just then, a knocking sound came from the door.

"Who is it?"

"Lord El, Captain Rocks requests your presence at the bow. It seems he has something to discuss with you," a respectful voice called from outside.

"I see."

Remembering that Rocks had mentioned this earlier that morning, El got dressed and stepped out of his room. He had been so absorbed in training that he'd almost forgotten.

Now reminded, curiosity stirred within him. What could Rocks possibly want from him?

After all, he had only joined the crew a single day ago.

Yes, he had managed to injure the Golden Lion twice during their sparring match earlier—but anyone could tell that Shiki hadn't gone all out. The fact that he'd taken damage at all was due more to carelessness than anything else.

With his current strength, El could be considered "not weak" among the Rocks Pirates, but by no means could he be counted among the strongest.

And Rocks… the captain himself… he was in a completely different league. His power completely overshadowed even monsters like the Golden Lion.

So why would someone like that take an interest in him?

Perplexed, El followed the pirate to the deck.

The night was clear and calm. The moon hung high above, bathing the vast sea in silver light.

There was no one else around. Standing alone at the bow was a tall, broad-shouldered man—the embodiment of overwhelming presence.

Rocks D. Xebec.

El stared at the man's back for a few seconds, then took a steady breath and walked forward.

Thump... thump... thump...

His footsteps echoed against the deck as he approached.

At the sound, Rocks turned his head slightly, hands clasped behind his back, and regarded El with a piercing gaze.

"Captain Rocks," El greeted calmly. "You wanted to see me?"

Rocks didn't answer immediately. Instead, a faint smile tugged at his lips.

"El," he said, his voice low but commanding, "tell me—what is your purpose in becoming a pirate?"

El froze.

"My purpose… in becoming a pirate?" he echoed under his breath.

He couldn't imm

ediately find an answer.

When he first set sail, he hadn't planned on becoming either a pirate or a marine...
