It has been a year since I reincarnated. A lot of things have happened since then. I can almost perfectly understand the language of this world; however, I still can´t speak it very well, though I know a few words. Once, I saw a book in the living room and I tried to read it, but I immediatly realized that, at least for now, it was an impossible task.
But I discovered something important. At first, I thought I reincarnated in another country or on a different continent, but that idea vanished the day the maid -whose name I later learned was Lilia- explained to me that this was a world with magic. She often talked to me while cleaning. Lilia first told me that my full name is Ryker Greyrat. I´m the son of Eris Greyrat and Rudeus Greyrat. The white-haired woman with pointed ears was my father´s first wife, Sylphiette Greyrat, my father had another wife named Roxy Greyrat, a small women with blue hair, she looked very intelligent. My mother was the third wife of my father.
I also have two older sisters, Lucy Greyrat and Lara Greyrat, the daughters of Sylphie (as everyone used to call her) and Roxy, respectively. Lilia noticed that I started paying more attention when she mentioned the word "magic," so she explained that magic was common concept, but not everyone could use it properly. She said that she wasn´t very good at it, but my father, my white mother, and my blue mother were geniuses in it. I got confused when she said "white" and "blue" mother, but then I understood she meant Sylphy and Roxy. I asked her about my mother, and Lilia told me that my red mother was Sword King in the sword God style. I didn´t understand what a sword king was, nor what the sword God style was, but Lilia told me it meant that my red mother was a powerful swordsman.
Later that day, we were having some family time. The whole family was in the yard, playing and chatting. It was a very uncommon sight because my father was actually here. He was usually away from home for days or even weeks, but now he and the three moms were together. I was sitting on his lap, looking at him. Rudeus Greyrat - ever since the first time I saw him, he has intriged me. There´s something beneath those green eyes that captivates me.
"Ryker is everything okay? You stare at me a lot," He said in a playfull tone, patting my red hair.
I looked around and saw Ars in the arms of the reddish-haired girl, whose name was Aisha. I also saw White mother cooking with Lilia; it looked like some kind of barbecue. I also saw the blonde woman, whom Lilia had told me was my grandmother, and her name was Zenith. She was staring blankly at sky, but somehow I thought that she was happy. A little farther away, I could see red mother practicing with a sword alongside the blonde girl, whose name was Norn, and to the right, I spotted my blue mother practicing something with my sister Lucy.
I was very interested in what the last two were doing. I crawled off my father´s lap, which I think made him a bit sad. Ars would always cry whenever my father held him, Lucy seemed afraid of him and Lara always looked at him disenterestedly. So basically, I was his only chance to have some father-and-son time. Sorry, dad.
I crawled toward blue mother and Lucy. My limbs were a little longer now; Ars was the same age as me, but he was smaller in comparison. I could alredy crawl easyly, and I was starting to make attempts to stand up straight.
When I arrived at blue mother and Lucy, they were practicing what seemed to be magic. Lucy had a water sphere floating between her hands.
"Lucy, focus on controlling the shape of the sphere. Then you´ll focus on launch it," Blue mother said with a patient tone
"I´m trying! But I can´t form the sphere properly," Lucy said with a frustrated tone.
"Look, lets do it again," Blue mother said, lightly shaking Lucy to calm her down. "First, gather your mana and focus it in your hands. Second. create a mental image of the water sphere. Third, recite the chant, and finally launch the, sphere."
Lucy shut her eyes and after a moment she recited a chant
"Let the vast and blessed waters flow wherever you wish and let a pristine stream spring forth...Waterball!" Then a water sphere formed between Lucy´s hands and was launched a few meters forward.
When I saw that, I was amazed but confused. Why does a spell need a chant? I mean, the first two steps are obvious and logical, but reciting a chant? How is that supposed to affect the spell? The more I think about it, the less sense it makes.
I decided to try it myself. First, I put my hands together and shut my eyes. Then I started to imagine a water sphere. I could feel a little tickle in my hands. My fingers and hands suddenly started to melt-or tingle- the more I thought about the water sphere. I made it bigger and bigger. When I opened my eyes, a big, round water sphere was in front of me. I extended my arms forward, and suddenly the sphere was launched at an immense speed toward a tree. The tree exploded and was completely destroyed. Oh shit! White mother is going to kill me.
I looked back, thinking I was going to be scolded, but everyone was staring directly at me with shock. My father was the first to intervine.
"Ryker! Are you okay?! Did you use all your mana storage?" He asked, worried, lifting me and holding me firmly in his arms. I shook my head making it clear I was fine.
Blue mother seemed very surprised, but she quickly regain her compusture and got closer to me. "Ryker, how did you do that?" She asked calmly.
I wanted to explain her that the idea of chants was stupid to me, but saying that would require saying words I didn´t know how to say in this language, so I said whatever came to my mind. "Water.....cute?"
She looked at me with an enigmatic expression, but then she smiled softly, glancing at my father. "He really is your son, Rudy." My father just laughed nervously.
Quickly, all the family gathered around us, and they all started looking at me with amazed eyes.
"Mmmph! As expected from a son of Rudeus and me!" my red mother said, crossing her arms and puffing out her chest in a proud gesture.
"Ryker managed to do magic this early? I think he even did it before you, Rudy" my White mother said in a nostalgic tone
"You´re right, Sylphy. I was two years old when I first cast a spell" my father then sighed, defeated. "Who would have thought that Ryker could do it at just one year old?" He said sadly, but I could see the pride in his eyes.
Being held in his arms and surrounded by these people made me happy. I wasn´t alone anymore. Perhaps I made a lot of mistakes in my past life, but here I have another chance. I have something special, and I won´t waste.
I´m Ryker Greyrat, and I will live the best possible life possible.
