The finals.
A battle under the eyes of the entire nation.
After several rounds of overwhelming, decisive victories, Kudo Shiba and Agano Roka—the two successors of Xia Nation's greatest Dragon-lineage families—finally stepped onto the last stage of the Battle Tower Rookie Tournament.
This was no longer just a match.
It was a clash of wills between the Shiba Clan of Magic City and the Agano Clan of the Imperial Capital, two colossal powers perched at the very peak of the Dragon-type world.
The top-floor arena of the Battle Tower had erupted to its limits.
Tens of thousands of spectators roared and screamed, their voices shaking the dome overhead. The feverish waves of sound felt almost physical, pounding against everyone's eardrums.
"Finally! The dual prodigies of Xia Nation—Magic City's rising star versus the Imperial Capital's dragon prince!"
"This is a true clash of titans! I paid triple price on scalper resale for this ticket!"
"My money's on the Agano Clan's Roka! Did you see that Bagon of his? It's a monster! Last round—he wiped out all three opponents!"
"Nonsense! Do you even understand what Shiba Clan represents? Shiba's Dragonair is elegant and terrifying—that's what a real Dragon aristocrat looks like!"
The audience split into two clear factions, each fiercely defending their chosen champion. The atmosphere burned like a battlefield.
At the center, under the blinding spotlight—
Shiba and Roka faced each other across the vast battlefield.
Invisible sparks crackled through the air. Their gazes clashed midair—neither yielding even a millimeter. The sharpness, the pride, the fighting spirit between them was palpable.
Roka broke the silence first. His voice was steady, carrying an innate sense of nobility and pressure.
"Shiba, I've heard of you for a long time."
"I hope you won't disappoint me today."
Shiba's lips curved into a faint, composed smile.
"Same to you."
The referee raised his right hand high, inhaled deeply, then shouted with all his strength—
"Battle—BEGIN!"
BOOM!
The battlefield instantly ignited.
"Let's go—my strongest partner!"
Roka's expression brimmed with absolute confidence. He swung his Poké Ball with a powerful motion.
"Bagon!"
A burst of red light.
A Pokémon covered in thick, gray-white armored scales landed heavily on the battlefield—its muscular frame and primal aura emanating overwhelming might and ferocity.
"ROOOAARR!"
Its earth-shaking roar blasted through the air, mixed with its intense Dragon aura. The invisible shockwave rippled out and struck the audience. People in the front rows paled as their hearts trembled violently—instinctively reacting as prey confronted by a primordial predator.
For a breath's moment, the whole arena fell silent.
All eyes swung toward Shiba, waiting for him to choose his Pokémon.
No doubt—
Everyone expected him to send out his pseudo-legendary Dragonair.
The elegant, noble, and terrifying dragon was the only answer fit to match Roka's Bagon.
A Dragon vs. Dragon apex showdown—the ultimate battle of lineage.
However…
What Shiba did next froze the entire stadium.
He did not reach for the Poké Ball containing Dragonair.
Instead—
With measured calm, he reached for a completely new Poké Ball. One he had never revealed to anyone before.
His fingers brushed the cold surface as his gaze deepened.
"This battle will be your first appearance."
With a smooth twist of his wrist, he tossed the ball.
Red light flashed.
A small but fierce silhouette materialized.
Its body was smaller than Bagon's, covered in deep navy scales with a rough texture. Its belly was a striking crimson, and most eye-catching of all—its enormous head bore two yellow turbine-like markings, like miniature jet engines.
It landed firmly on the ground.
Its pitch-black eyes lifted.
No fear.
No hesitation.
Only raw brutality—wild, unruly, predator-like instinct burning deep within its gaze.
The Dragon/Ground pseudo-legendary—
Gible.
Silence.
Complete, suffocating silence consumed the arena.
One second.
Two.
Three—
And then the entire stadium erupted like a volcanic explosion.
"W–WHAT?! Is that Gible?!"
"Oh my god! What am I seeing?! Shiba—he—he has a second pseudo-legendary species!"
"This is impossible! A rookie Trainer with BOTH a Dragonair and a Gible?! What kind of monster is he?!"
The arena was thrown into chaos.
Owning one pseudo-legendary was already proof of elite bloodline and genius destiny.
Owning two different pseudo-legendary species?
That was beyond rare.
Beyond shocking.
Practically unheard of even among top clans.
For the first time, cracks formed on Roka's calm confidence.
His pupils shrank sharply as he stared at the feral Gible, disbelief flooding his previously composed face.
"Don't lose focus."
Shiba's calm voice snapped him back to reality.
"Gible—Sandstorm!"
The moment the command landed—
"RRAAH!"
Gible roared and slammed its feet onto the ground!
A wave of overwhelming Ground-type energy erupted outward. The fortified battlefield trembled violently.
A massive storm of yellow sand burst into existence, swirling and rising into a howling sand tornado that swallowed the entire arena.
Vision vanished instantly.
"Hmph! Weather tactics? Naive!"
Roka's expression hardened as he barked sharply:
"Bagon—Dragon Breath! Blow it away!"
But the moment Bagon opened its mouth, blue Dragon energy gathering in its throat—
A dark shadow shot forward at incredible speed, hidden perfectly within the raging sandstorm.
It tore through the wind and sand like a silent assassin, appearing right in front of Bagon—
Far too fast!
Shiba's voice echoed through the storm with total command:
"Now!"
"Dragon Rush!"
In that instant, brilliant blue Dragon energy exploded across Gible's body, enveloping it in a blazing aura. In the swirling sandstorm, it turned into a blue meteor—roaring downward with unstoppable force.
BOOOOM!!!
The deafening explosion shook the entire arena.
Bagon didn't even have time to react.
Gible's ambush struck its chest and stomach perfectly, slamming it off the ground.
Its entire body was hurled more than ten meters back before crashing heavily onto the ground, sand scattering everywhere.
The opening exchange.
With just one surprise attack—
Shiba had already seized absolute control of the fight through superior instinct, superior ferocity, and superior tactical precision.
