I widened my eyes slightly was this really allowed? It seemed Captian didn't welcome Wendy much at all.
"Mr. Anderson, I saw Miss Wendy standing alone at the entrance, so I let her in," Ryder swaggered inside, his long, narrow fox-like eyes half-squinting with a seductive glint. Behind him was Wendy, dressed in a white one-piece dress embroidered with a large hibiscus flower fresh, pure, gentle like water.
She lifted her head, and when she looked at Captian, the corners of her lips curved in a refined, elegant smile.
"Captain."
Sitting at the dining table, Captian raised an eyebrow, his expression darkening, clearly displeased that Ryder had taken matters into his own hands.
"Mr. Anderson, I saw Miss Wendy standing outside alone, so I brought her in. You won't blame me, right?" Ryder grinned shamelessly, then suddenly glanced at me, his eyes full of ill intent.
I frowned, this man was seriously sick in the head. Ronan also looked at him with an expression that said everything: he was asking for death.
Captian said nothing, but the chopsticks in his hand looked like they were about to snap.
"Captain, I came today to spend time with sister-in-law." Wendy lifted her handbag and approached gracefully, her skirt fluttering in the breeze with elegant allure.
Captian didn't even glance at her, treating her as if she were air.
The atmosphere in the living room instantly froze, like falling into an ice cellar.
Wendy's expression didn't change, she seemed used to this. Meanwhile, I suffered secondhand embarrassment. When I turned my head, I noticed Captian's chopsticks had already broken in half.
My eyes widened, he almost scared me to death.
"I'm going to the company."
Captian stood up and reached out to press the top of my head.
Instinctively, I nodded, my pale cheeks flushing pink, blooming like a rose.
Before leaving, he glanced at Ryder and let out a cold laugh.
"Come with me."
Wendy watched his departing back, something complicated flickering in her eyes. Mr. Anderson thunderous, storm-like, bloodthirsty was reporting his whereabouts to another person? That had never happened before.
And he cared about me this much?
The corners of Wendy's lips lifted, but her eyes dimmed with disappointment.
The cold atmosphere in the living room dissipated once he left, sunlight spilling in and warming the room. After finishing my milk, I took a wet tissue and wiped my mouth.
"Miss Wendy, you must be tired from standing. Would you like to sit down?"
Wendy quickly regained her composure, smiling gently.
"Sister-in-law, just call me Wendy."
She pulled a chair and sat across from me, smiling with noble confidence, as if unaffected by being ignored moments before.
I awkwardly touched my nose, unsure how to break the ice with her. The atmosphere grew even more bizarre.
Ronan couldn't stand it any longer and immediately bolted out of the room.
I stared at his disappearing back, internally rolling my eyes, how ungrateful. I cured his kidney deficiency and this was the thanks I got?
"Sister-in-law, a new shopping mall opened recently. Should we go shopping?" Wendy finally broke the silence—clearly she was good at socializing.
Rather than sitting awkwardly here, going out was a better option… and she clearly had no intention of leaving.
I nodded immediately.
I ran to the kitchen to notify the housekeeper.
"Nanny Alley, I'm going out shopping with Miss Wendy. I might be back late."
After hearing her reply, I headed out. Wendy watched me with a slightly puzzled expression, but quickly returned to normal.
"Sister-in-law, your relationship with everyone in the villa is really good."
I glanced at her.
"They treat me very well."
Wendy smiled and said nothing more.
Once we stepped out of the villa, I saw a turquoise-blue sports car parked at the entrance. Its luxurious color and sleek curves made it instantly clear it was a high-end supercar. It must belong to Wendy.
"Sister-in-law, get in."
Leaning against the car door, Wendy looked like a noble lady from another era.
I sat in the passenger seat and buckled my seatbelt.
"Your car is amazing."
"Thanks." Wendy gripped the steering wheel, her long slender fingers adorned with nude nail polish that gleamed elegantly.
But contrary to her gentle demeanor, she drove like someone injected with pure adrenaline.
The turquoise sports car shot forward like a wild horse, the engine roaring, weaving in sharp S-curves.
I clutched the seatbelt tightly, my heart riding a roller coaster up and down feeling like I could be thrown out at any moment.
"Miss Wendy, could you please drive slower?" My face turned pale.
The wind rushed in through the open top, whipping my long hair wildly like that of a ghost woman in a TV drama.
Wendy acted as if she didn't hear me at all and sped up again.
The supercar shot forward like a missile down the wide road, twisting endlessly.
I was about to vomit.
So exciting… so dizzy… I felt like a broken doll being shaken apart.
I couldn't take it anymore. I opened my little cloth bag, pulled out a cooling medical patch I had prepared, and stuck it onto my skin. Instantly, a refreshing chill spread through me, my small face regaining color.
This was a cooling therapeutic patch I had formulated myself able to purify the air, calm the mind, reduce heat, and treat motion sickness extremely effectively.
After roughly thirty minutes of violent S-curves, the car finally stopped in front of the newly opened shopping mall.
"Sister-in-law, are you okay? I usually love racing. It's so exhilarating." Wendy hurriedly opened my door, a guilty expression on her face.
"I'm fine." I gave her a complex look.
Thanks to my patch, I stepped out steadily with no signs of collapse.
Seeing this, Wendy was stunned.
"Sister-in-law, you're so calm."
"It's nothing." I peeled off the patch and said, "This is something I use for motion sickness. It's very cooling."
Wendy was even more surprised. She hadn't expected me to carry something like that.
"You bring these with you?" Her red lips parted slightly.
"It's really useful. Where did you buy it?"
"You can't find it in pharmacies. I made it myself." I shrugged, then glanced at the shopping mall ahead.
Normally, it only took twenty minutes to get here from Captian's villa, but Wendy's driving took more than forty. And she drove fast.
Did she… take a longer route on purpose?
I frowned, my thoughts growing complicated.
"Sister-in-law, the clothes in this mall are beautiful. Let's take a look?"
Wendy's voice was soft, soothing like the drizzle of Luccie Amandy, gentle and melodic. Not only beautiful, but reasonably priced.
I didn't refuse and nodded.
"Sure."
Wendy and I were the same height, but she wore high heels that made her look taller, while I wore casual clothes with flat shoes, comfortable and simple.
Our styles were completely different. Wendy was a classically elegant beauty, tall and gentle like a goddess. I was small, bright, lively, full of youthful energy but in terms of looks, I still had a slight advantage.
My beauty was like a vivid oil painting, instantly memorable, making Wendy appear somewhat dull next to me.
"Angula" was a major international brand with branches in Alchimie City. The moment we walked in, the shop assistants flocked around Wendy like she was a celebrity because she was a VIP member.
Meanwhile, I was tossed aside like an abandoned orphan.
"Miss Wendy, we just got new arrivals today, several designs will look perfect on you."
