Chapter 42 - Chapter 41: An Encounter with Ginny

Sunlight streamed through the dormitory window as Aiden slowly opened his eyes.

The first thing he saw was Arasso Abbott's smiling face.

"What is it?"

His mind was still half lost in last night's events.

"It is time for Charms. We have it with Gryffindor today. Aiden, you did not forget, did you?"

Arasso laughed and tugged him upright.

Aiden sat up and glanced around the dormitory.

Steve Libby, Raerh Combett, and Acheson Peeves were already dressed and preparing to leave.

After quickly freshening up and casting a small cleaning charm on his robes, Aiden grabbed his books and followed them out.

As they walked, memories of previous Charms lessons surfaced.

Hufflepuff shared the class with Gryffindor. It was one of the few regular intersections between the two Houses.

Most of the students present were in the same year.

Lost in thought, Aiden gradually slowed his pace.

His mind drifted away from Charms and toward something far more pressing.

The Chamber of Secrets.

The Basilisk.

The possibility of turning a corner one night and meeting those lethal eyes.

It was a chilling thought.

Lost in that anxiety—

Thump.

Aiden collided with someone and fell backward, his books scattering across the floor.

He rubbed his head and looked up.

A small Gryffindor girl stood frozen in front of him.

She looked young, but even now her features hinted at the beauty she would grow into. Her bright red hair left no doubt.

Ginny Weasley.

The name echoed heavily in Aiden's mind.

"I am so sorry. Are you alright?"

Ginny looked mortified.

"I am fine."

Aiden stood and brushed off his robes before kneeling to gather his books.

"You are a new Gryffindor, correct?"

"My name is Aiden Ramirez."

Ginny crouched down to help him.

"Ginny Weasley."

Hearing the name spoken aloud stirred countless thoughts in him.

His roommates paused several steps ahead, watching curiously.

Aiden glanced at Ginny more carefully.

There was something off.

A faint daze lingered in her expression.

A subtle exhaustion.

His heart skipped.

By now, she must already have been influenced by Tom Riddle's diary.

But where was it?

If he could—

A reckless thought flashed through his mind.

Knock her unconscious and search her belongings.

He immediately rejected it.

The consequences would be disastrous.

Instead, he found himself staring at her far too intently.

His roommates noticed.

So did Ginny.

When she handed him the last book, she met his gaze.

Her cheeks flushed bright red.

She shot him an embarrassed glare and fled down the corridor without another word.

Aiden blinked, snapping back to reality.

She had misunderstood.

But what was he supposed to do?

Chase after her and explain?

That would only make things worse.

"She is gone, Aiden."

"Have you come back to earth yet?"

"That was a Weasley, you know."

His roommates immediately began teasing him.

"You are overthinking it. I was simply… curious about the new student."

He stopped mid-defense when he saw their knowing expressions.

There was no point arguing.

"Come on. You were rushing me earlier."

He shoved them lightly forward.

Acheson clutched his chest dramatically.

"Are you trying to silence us, Aiden?"

Aiden rolled his eyes, and laughter followed them down the corridor.

Meanwhile—

Ginny ran until she reached a quieter stretch of hallway.

Her flushed cheeks quickly drained of color.

She glanced around to ensure she was alone.

Then, with trembling hands, she pulled a black-bound diary from inside her robes.

The pages were yellowed with age.

The atmosphere around it felt wrong.

Cold.

Oppressive.

Text began to appear on the open page.

[Ginny Weasley, are we not good friends?]

[Why did you abandon me?]

[Why???]

[Why???]

The ink darkened.

Then turned blood red.

The letters seemed to bleed.

Ginny let out a small scream.

She dropped the diary as though it had burned her and ran.

The corridor fell silent again.

Slowly, the red words faded.

They vanished.

Then new text formed.

[I need to find a new… sacrifice.]

At that exact moment—

Footsteps echoed from the other end of the corridor.

A shadow approached.
