Chapter 149: The Hangover is Gone, But the Pants Are Still Yellow
Saturday night arrived.
After entrusting Anya to Yor's care, Natsukawa promised he wouldn't come back empty-handed from his fishing trip tonight.
Yor nodded somewhat embarrassedly—those words reminded her of that night when she'd lost her composure.
Watching Natsukawa leave, the well-behaved Anya immediately changed her expression.
"Aunt Yor, should we go to Ekoda? I saw the news yesterday—Kaitou Kid is planning to steal the jewel from the Ekoda Clock Tower! Anya wants to go see!"
Yor frowned thoughtfully.
Speaking of Kaitou Kid, she was indeed curious about him.
Last time, he'd even tried to steal the Azure Wonder, but fortunately Natsukawa had managed to protect the jewel.
Every single member of Division 2 and the Mobile Security Unit who'd tried to capture Kaitou Kid was practically one of her trainees.
So many people had failed to catch him—she really wanted to see what made this phantom thief so special.
Every time Inspector Nakamori attempted to capture Kaitou Kid, he always left disappointed, which made her extremely curious.
"I heard that Kaitou Kid is going to make his move at midnight. Anya should be asleep by then."
Considering that children needed to go to bed early and wake up early, Yor hesitated.
"It's okay! Today is Saturday and tomorrow is Sunday—both are holidays! Anya can sleep in!"
Saying this, Anya ran into her room and retrieved her homework. "Anya has already finished her weekend homework! Even if I sleep late tomorrow, it won't affect Monday!"
Anya was clearly prepared for this.
"Alright then, but let's be clear—you have to behave when we get there and don't run around on your own. Otherwise, I won't take Anya out next time." Yor reminded her firmly.
"Of course!"
With that, Anya dashed upstairs.
Not long after, Anya—dressed all in black, wearing a black hat and black sunglasses—appeared before Yor.
"..."
This is really unnecessary.
Yor had thought Anya was a fan of Kaitou Kid, but dressed all in black, she looked more like a miniature member of the Black Organization. If she was a fan, she was certainly an unusual one.
Meanwhile, at Professor Agasa's house, a piercing wail almost carried through the walls.
Fortunately, Professor Agasa had excellent soundproofing in his home due to his various experiments. Otherwise, the neighbors would probably have called the police.
Such loud groaning clearly would have suggested that Professor Agasa had become obsessed with his research and started conducting human experiments!
"Are you alright, Shinichi?!"
Professor Agasa was frantic.
He should have known better than to let him drink so much! One small sip would have been sufficient, but a whole bottle of sake—even a seasoned drinker couldn't handle that!
What if something went wrong? How would he explain this to Yusaku Kudo?
Thinking of this, Professor Agasa was about to go call for an ambulance—he didn't know if there would be enough time to get his stomach pumped.
"Wait!" Conan, enduring the pain, stopped Professor Agasa.
Having been friends with him for so long despite their age difference, he basically knew what the Professor was thinking.
Although he felt terrible, he believed he could still manage. He'd felt the same way last time at the Tsujimura residence.
This time was definitely more painful, but that was probably related to the quantity he'd consumed.
Maybe he really could return to normal!
To achieve the transformation, he'd taken a cold shower last night and spent the entire day in the cold wind on the rooftop, enduring so much suffering just to meet the prerequisite of having a cold. He couldn't afford to fail at the last minute!
Just then!
Conan felt the sharp pain in his chest intensify, and he completely lost all strength. Even breathing became difficult.
Like a drunk, he staggered several times, fell from his chair, and collapsed to the floor.
"Professor Agasa, I'm almost there!"
"Alright, let me know immediately if there are any problems." Cold sweat broke out on Professor Agasa's forehead as he suddenly said, "Want a tranquilizer?"
Conan looked up in bewilderment. ???
"A tranquilizer dart—maybe you won't feel the pain if you pass out."
"No! I'm afraid it won't work if I'm unconscious!"
Having come this far, Conan didn't want anything else to interfere with the transformation. He could endure this pain!
Professor Agasa sighed, secretly admiring Shinichi Kudo's willpower, which far exceeded his own.
The next moment, Conan visibly began expanding before Professor Agasa's eyes!
His eyes widened as he watched Conan's body grow with each heartbeat, like a balloon inflating.
This happened so quickly that Professor Agasa didn't have time to find a camera to record this valuable research data before Conan had already outgrown his clothes.
In just a few seconds, the clothing stretched to its maximum capacity, finally tearing apart like a scene from a transformation sequence in anime.
Professor Agasa's gaze remained fixed and unwavering, never looking away for even a second as he observed Conan's transformation from small to large.
A few more seconds passed, and Conan finally completed his magnificent transformation, growing from a six-year-old child into the seventeen-year-old high school detective—Shinichi Kudo.
"Professor, could you stop staring? Get me some clothes first."
Shinichi Kudo's face was flushed—whether from drinking too much sake or from embarrassment at Professor Agasa's intense gaze was hard to tell.
"Oh, right!"
After a while, Shinichi put on the blue uniform of Teitan High School and adjusted his bow tie. He tried moving his limbs—it felt somewhat strange to be back in his normal body.
He'd grown accustomed to being at a disadvantage physically, and now that he was tall again, it felt odd. His coordination wasn't quite right either.
There was also a vague feeling of weakness throughout his body.
The worst part was that the sake was making him feel tipsy, and the alcohol was causing his head to throb.
"Damn it!"
Shinichi grimaced and shook his head vigorously, trying to clear the headache.
The effect was minimal—the pounding remained severe.
"Do you want to try this? I just developed a hangover remedy. Drink it and wait half an hour, and the alcohol will be neutralized."
There's such a thing?
Shinichi was stunned for a moment but didn't stand on ceremony. He took the hangover remedy from Professor Agasa's hand and poured it into his mouth.
"Oh right, this does have some side effects."
Professor Agasa blinked and found the bottle in his hand was already empty.
Then he heard a burp, and the bottle in Shinichi's hand was completely drained.
"Side effects?"
Shinichi wiped his mouth, looking puzzled.
But his question was answered a few seconds later!
A gurgling sound erupted from his stomach, and his face turned from pale to purple. He clutched his stomach with one hand and his rear with the other, awkwardly rushing out of the room.
"A small sip of the hangover remedy would have been enough. You drank the entire 100ml bottle—the side effects might be quite severe."
Professor Agasa silently pushed up his glasses, pulled out his notebook, and began writing.
[Side effect 1 of 100ml hangover remedy: Diarrhea occurring 10 minutes earlier than expected.]
A while later.
[Side effect 2 of 100ml hangover remedy: Severe, foul-smelling diarrhea.]
Fortunately, the hangover remedy wasn't like Yor's cooking disaster—it didn't require an hour of suffering.
The severe episode ended in about two minutes.
"Professor Agasa! Get me a pair of pants!"
Shinichi Kudo felt utterly mortified. He'd just transformed back into an adult and immediately suffered a bout of explosive diarrhea.
He was sober now, but his pants were stained yellow.
