I am Kevin, son of a normal farmer who lives in a corner of nameless village.
As the son of a farmer, I have a lot of siblings, but most of them died before reaching adulthood.
How Lucky they are!
As someone who constantly fighting over a hunger every day, I envy their luck.
If only I died first, then I wouldn't have to deal with starvation every single day.
The wind blew my tattered clothes.
I tilted my head upwards as I gaze upon the sun above.
It's day time, and I plan to leave this place that I used to call home.
This place that had sheltered me for so long have been reduced to nothing
It's because of a plague that came just a month ago.
At first, The plague only infected the elderly, but then, It quickly spreads, infecting children and adult.
It only takes no less than a month to reduce our village into a ghost village, and leaving me alone as the sole survivor.
I was born with nothing but bottomless stomach, even worse, my family is just a poor farmer.
From a very young age I learned how to obtain my own food, It was either that or just die.
I was stupid kid and choose the worse choice.
At some point people started calling me locust because how much I ate things.
Grass, insect, tree bark, mud, poisonous plants, etc.
For better or worse, I survive even while eating strange things.
Maybe that's why I survive the plague. Poison couldn't even kill me, much less one measly plague.
Gathering food become one of my favorite thing, and forest where there are abundant amount of food, become my second home.
At night the forest is cold and wild beast like wolves lurked around, so I rarely stay until night.
But now that everyone is dead, I need to search for a new home if I wanted to survive.
It's only a matter of time for wilderness to claim this place without anyone living in it.
And when that happens, I won't be safe in here anymore.
I didn't survive this long, just for a wild beast to take my lives away.
I still wanted to eat delicious food like what my mom used to make.
With those thought in my head I turn around and left my village.
