[Fireball]
A halo of fireballs began to form behind him, each one condensed and circling his back, each one getting stronger every second. He was preparing while the boss was still unaggroed.
It's figure merely menacingly sitting on its stone throne.
"Done."
He whispered, and with a raise of his palms, began to fire fireballs at the rate of fire of a machine gun, the balls of flame tearing through the air like fury itself.
"Hm...?"
The boss grumbled, then it opened its cold blue eyes.
BOOM!
A direct hit!
But of course, that wasn't enough to take it down as it growled, low enough to vibrate the entire boss room, but Jules didn't let it get to him, continuing his endless barrage.
All the while, Bern was enhancing him by the back.
But the boss wouldn't just take it.
It began to sprint... stupidly fast, its huge cleaver a guaranteed death for a squishy mage like Jules.
"Slow him down!"
I yelled out, and with that, Erick and Rein followed suit. It was now our time to shine as frontline fighters.
"I've got him!"
Rein raised his shield, taking the first blow, but it wasn't without great difficulty as the entire floor below him cratered the moment the boss's cleaver impacted his shield, his eyes glazing white for a quick second.
It was enough to briefly knock him out.
"Healing!"
Rein managed to snap out of it, his eyes turning back to normal as he roared.
[Shield Bash]
The huge hunk of metal slammed directly onto the boss's head, sending him flying, and now it was my and Erick's turn.
[Haste] 2x
[Critical Strike] 2x
The two of us cast the same skills, and without hesitation, began to cleave at the stunned elven patriarch while it was still recovering from the pain of getting hit directly with steel.
"Fall back!"
Erick grunted, and we did, we barely even scratched its skin, only leaving red welts; nothing was working at all against it.
"Step aside!"
Jules shouted, and the three of us in the front parted quickly, a stream of fireballs unleashing and hitting the boss directly at the head in quick succession.
But after the smoke had cleared from the constant stream of fireballs, the boss had disappeared...
"What?"
Jules' hand twitched, his palm lowering slightly as he felt cold breath on his neck.
The boss had instantly reached the backlines where Jules and Bern were standing.
"Shit!"
I yelled out.
[Haste]
But I wasn't quick enough as the boss swung his cleaver in a wide arc, quickly severing one of Jules' arms and Bern's legs, it could have killed them in an instant... but it didn't.
It was obvious that it was having fun.
"Fall back, Leon!"
I heard Rein yell out from behind me, but it was too late, I had already lost control of my legs, my fight or flight response completely taking over my body... and unfortunately? The fight had won.
"RAGH!"
The boss growled once more, swinging his cleaver, but I managed to avoid the first blow and counterattack with my own.
But just like before... it barely even scratched its skin.
"Fuck..."
The boss laughed and instantly kicked my chest, leaving me flying and landing directly at its stone throne, my spine cracking and bending unnaturally as I hit the edge of its seat.
"Aghhk!"
A disgusting amount of blood left my mouth as I landed, leaving me half dead in the throne room, and now it only left Rein and Erick, who were the remaining capable enough to still fight.
"Erick!" Rein shouted.
"What is it?"
"Can you make a run for it!? I'll try to distract it..."
"Don't... It's a lost cause, it'll just do the same to me as it did with Jules."
"So we're screwed then?"
"Yeah..." Erick grimly replied, chuckling nervously. He knew he would meet his end in a dungeon, but a B-Rank one? That was unexpected, especially since they had backup in the form of me.
But I barely even made a difference in the face of a terrifying monster.
And the thought that was coursing through all of our minds?
Was the gate classification botched?
This was an A-Rank dungeon.
As Rein and Erick charged, preferring to die in battle than flee, I was left in the throne with my own thoughts.
I could barely even feel my lower body, let alone control it.
[I'll give you one last chance... convince me you're worthy.]
'Will you shut up!? I'm on my deathbed already... and technically I already did your stupid quest since you didn't specify in what way I should join...'
I laugh bitterly and weakly.
'Technically, joining this dungeon raid was enough to complete the quest.'
[...]
The system stayed silent for a brief moment.
And then.
[You make a good point.]
I swore I could hear it laughing at my suspense.

[You're Welcome...]
The moment I received the notifications, my body immediately began to glow a bright, radiant light reminiscent of RPGs when you increase a level, and surprisingly, it was visible to everyone in the dungeon.
Catching the eye of the boss, Rein, and Erick, who were currently fighting tooth and nail.
Stopping slightly as they witnessed the strange sight.
I had now fully recovered, and my weapons? completely changed into a rapier.
My dark hair and eyes were also replaced with a heterochromic gold and blue.
Now I had no right to call Jule's appearance cliché with this sudden power up I had received.
I quite literally felt like Goku.
'What in the everloving shit are my new skills!?'
I had no idea how to use my new class.
