The room was too silent for my heart not to sound like a war drum against my ribs.
The shadows that had enveloped us minutes before dissipated with the same speed with which they had arrived, leaving me in my room, alone, locked in.

"Don't leave, understand?" he had said with that tone of command wrapped in caresses. "If anyone tries to come in, kill them."
He left a dagger on the table. I recognized it. Not from having seen it before, but from the aura surrounding it: it was his. Black, with ancient runes that seemed to breathe.
And then he was gone.
He didn't kiss me. He didn't look at me twice. As if he already knew he couldn't allow himself to waver.
