Chapter 28 - The Student Council

"Us? THE Student Council called for us?" Azrael asked clearly stunned at the sentence, pointing at himself.

"Precisely." Eris answered with a smile.

"But why?"

"Well It wasn't technically us that called for you, it was someone else." Eris giggled as he clasped her hands behind her back. "Said it was something important... didn't say why though."

"I suggest we could postpone this class to see what you guys need so urgently." Kairo said.

"Wonderful!" Eris beamed. "We'll wait outside for you."

The two turned and left the dojo leaving the others in stunned silence.

"This is a dream, right?" Azrael said pinching himself.

"As much as I'd like to believe it, it's seems that not the case." Cyrus said placing a hand on his chin. "Calling on students isn't rare but something about this whole thing just feels...off."

"D-do you think we did something wrong?" Runa spoke.

"That's highly unlikely," Harumi commented. "But that also a possibility since we have a certain someone in the class."

On cue, all eyes turned towards a certain individual squatting on the far side of the room.

"Go to hell." Lucian flatly said showing his middle finger in response.

"Well whether you're in trouble or not, I suppose it's best you'd go find out why you were called." Kairo said turning to leave the dojo.

"Huh? Wait you're not coming with us?!" Riven turned, blinking.

"Why do you think it's called the Student Council? We the teachers aren't allowed to interfere in a matter concerning the Students and The Students Council until it call for it." Kairo explained as he continued walking out. "Oh, and be on your best behaviour...or else." He warmed as the air in the room shifted for a split second making the hairs on everyone stand on end as the students watched as their teacher's figure left the dojo.

"Feels like he's just looking for an excuse to get some alone time." Azrael commented.

"Definitely." Riven nodded in response before he also began leaving the dojo. "Well, we can't keep the Top Students waiting...even if we may be in trouble."

"I doubt it..." Cyrus said as he pushed his glasses upright with his fingers "if we where they'd addressed it from the start."

"Either way. We can't just sit around guessing...let's go." Riven said.

The others didn't see a good reason not to so they left the dojo and sports building where Eris and Dorian were waiting.

"You six sure took your yet time." Dorian complained, giving them a quick glare making the group nervous. "Whatever, let's just go, we have a busy schedule today."

The upperclassman said as he began walking ahead of the group.

"Are you all this tense?" Riven whispered to Eris.

"Not always..." She replied. "Like Dorian said, we're all very busy lately, not only us but other students as well.

"I'm sure some of you are aware that some of the well trained or experienced students are sent out on missions or tasks outside the school grounds...away from the island."

"Yeah, I know of that but why does it sound like that big of a deal?" The werewolf asked sensing the drop of the cheer Eris had in her voice.

"Well, if you didn't know, most of these missions can be a gamble at times... sometimes the students come back with grave injuries, others...don't come back."

Riven's heart dropped at the last sentence.

Did it mean that there was a chance he could be gravely injured or worse if he or anyone was sent on missions?!

"And although few students don't make it," she continued. "That doesn't mean they're forgotten...They all fought their hardest giving their best for others." She turned giving a small smile to Riven

These people...have all been risking their lives fighting for others, even guys as young as I am. Mom, is this why you didn't tell us?

---

Soon after a rather quiet walk, they reach a building akin to a small villa with the logo of the school etched into the front.

"Is this where you guys stay?" Azrael asked looking around the lavish surroundings.

"Not exactly, this is just where we meet up and discuss matters or plans." Eris explained.

"So where do you live?"

"Oh we all have our individual dorms."

Everyone's eyes immediately went wide at the mention of the 'individual'.

"Hold on. You're telling me you guys live in your own no roommates just you?!" Lucian exclaimed.

Eris shrugged. "It not that much of a huge deal, we visit each other though."

The students couldn't believe their ears, the luxury of living all alone in a luxurious space without the annoyance of others was something they only dream about, but it would seem that the Student Council treats it like is was nothing big.

"You all done gawking, we're wasting time here." Dorian spoke, drawing their attention.

"Right, right." Riven sighed. "So who exactly was the one who called for us."

"Cubby? Oh, you guys are already here." A familiar voice called out from behind.

Riven instantly flinched when he heard the voice , slowly turning his head. "Oh...no."

Harumi turned her head. "Who's Cubby?"

"Err—I have no idea!" Riven blurted, heat crawling up his face.

Nikolai walked towards them with a big grin on his face, his dark skin seemingly glowing with energy, but he wasn't wearing casual clothes anymore, he wore the school uniform but the jacket was hung across his shoulder.

"Wait aren't you...the President of the Student Council!?" Cyrus gaped.

"Bingo." Nikolai snapped his fingers.

"You look...different from what I'd imagine." Runa said staring at the senior.

He chuckled, crossing his arms. "If only I had a dime for every time I heard that.

"At first, when I called for you guys I thought you'd be busy with classes or something...Guess I was wrong." The dark skinned senior beamed.

"Actually, they were in a class..." Dorian corrected. "With Kairo."

"Eh!?" Nikolai stiffened. "Y-you didn't tell him I was the one who called, right?"

"No we didn't."

Nikolai gave a relieved sigh. "I appreciate."

"Umm, you have a problem with the teach?" Cyrus asked.

"No, no. It's nothing like that it's just that—"

"Our president here was a student of Kairo...one of his best in fact." Eris chirped

"Really? So why so bothered?" Riven blinked.

Eris gave a awkward chuckle. "Well, as you all know Kairo is quite...Intense."

"Intense is a major understatement." Lucian deadpanned.

"Right. So he was extra tough on Nikolai here always pushing him to his limits and beyond."

"I still have have nightmares on our training protocols." Nikolai gave a hollow whisper but he quickly got himself. "Now shall we go inside...I did call for you guys. I appreciate you two bringing them here for me."

The two other members gave a solemn nod before leaving the the others.

"Where are they off to?" Riven asked.

"Oh they still have some minor duties to perform, Dorian deals with Student Security and Safety and Eris with Student Affairs...So everyone has a thing or two to sort out."

"Seems like you guys always have your hands full...wait they are others students right?"

"Yep, and you all are about to meet them."

The door swung open as they group stepped into a refined living area with a break taking decor.

"Wow, are you guys students or celebrities?" Azrael quipped.

"This is just one of the many perks of being a top student." The president replied. "Ah, There she is just the Mythic I was looking for."

"Don't give me that crap, Nic." A voice said as another female student descended down the stairs. "Where the hell, have you been!"

"Relax Jenna, I just went on a stroll to clear my head that's all."

"To clear your head..." Jenna walked up to Nikolai and stared right at him although he avoid all and any form of eye contact. "You're telling me that while the rest of us are working out butts off, you went on a stroll?!"

"Well when you put it like that—"

"You are... Unbelievable sometimes. You do realise that we have a weekly report to give today at the principal's office, right.

"Wait that's today?!"

"That's now, you dingus." Jenna groaned into her hand as she peered over his shoulder. "Oh. Are those the deviants you wanted for that task?"

"Huh? Oh right. Yeah...these are the ones." Nikolai said stepping out of the way a bit to give Jenna a better view of Riven and the others, who also saw the Vice president of the council properly.

It was safe to say she was a stunning beauty, her fair skin was lightly pale like Lucian's and her eyes were a shade of midnight blue, her black hair looked like pure silk. But long pointed ears were a dead giveaway: She was an Elf, a Moon Elf at that.

"Ugh. Well they seem qualified enough for it." Jenna finally said after scanning them for a long moment.

"Umm, excuse me qualified for what exactly?" Harumi asked suspiciously.

"Well, it's about the reason I called you all here," Nikolai said still wearing a smile on his face. "We need you all to go to a place called Shangri-la."
