Chapter 60 Happy 'Silly White Sweet'
The families of these Konoha Ninja were really too enthusiastic; this was probably the first time Uchiha启 had encountered such a situation in his thirteen, nearly fourteen, years since coming to this world.
Uchiha启's heart was also very conflicted. He could feel that these people were genuinely grateful to him, but Uchiha启 himself knew that the fundamental reason he did this was still to protect himself.
However, Uchiha启 was not a fool. He faced the families of these injured people with a smile, and he didn't forget to greet the injured themselves.
These injured Ninja might have even encountered him in the Land of Grass, and some of them might have even helped Uchiha启 block Kunai.
"Qi-kun seems very gentle and popular," Rin Nohara said to him with a smile after Uchiha启 had finished dealing with these people. "But Qi-kun deserves such treatment; you are a hero."
"A hero?" Uchiha启 smiled and shook his head. "Actually, you all are too. You just got injured and were forced to leave early."
Compared to communicating with people like Uchiha Fugaku and the Third Hokage, Uchiha启 preferred interacting with 'naive' people like Rin Nohara, at least he didn't have to spend a long time worrying if he had said the wrong thing or done something wrong.
And Kakashi, in Uchiha启's eyes, was pretty much at that level. Essentially, he wouldn't make Uchiha启 as uncomfortable as Hyuga Aya and Imai Kenta did. Uchiha启 felt relaxed when facing them.
"No, Ke, if it weren't for you, I would probably be dead," Kakashi sat up with some difficulty. "Kitsuchi's attack was truly vicious. Fortunately, you held him off and summoned sensei."
"You've got it wrong, Kakashi, you should thank Rin," Uchiha启 patted his shoulder. "I just did what I had to do, after all, I'm your captain. And speaking of which, I also have to thank you for the information you gave me; it truly helped me a lot."
Although Uchiha启 enjoyed being thanked by Kakashi, he knew even better what he should say now. Rin's position in Kakashi's heart was much higher than Uchiha启's.
Moreover, Uchiha启 really needed to thank Kakashi properly. Although Uchiha启 hadn't officially used the Chidori Ninjutsu yet, its help to Uchiha启 was obvious.
Regardless of the reason, Uchiha启 had to properly thank Kakashi for his help.
"You've already learned it?" Kakashi tilted his head, saying with some surprise, "That's impressive. I really didn't expect you to learn so quickly. You didn't seem like an honor student back in school."
"Please, even if I wasn't an honor student, I wasn't a bad student either, okay?" Speaking of this, Uchiha启 couldn't help but roll his eyes.
It wasn't Uchiha启's choice to appear as someone whose grades were neither good nor bad in class. Without using his Sharingan, his true level was just average.
If Uchiha Keisuke hadn't given him some special tutoring, and if Uchiha启 hadn't been forced to become an 'old schemer', it would be a question whether he would have survived until today.
If there was anyone to blame, it would probably be Konoha, or rather, this war.
If Konoha hadn't 'forced' him to graduate in his second year, he wouldn't have had to go to the battlefield. If it weren't for this war, he wouldn't have been 'forced' to graduate.
"I remember you being taught a lesson by Guy back then," Rin Nohara suddenly chuckled at this moment. "Just like Obito."
But as she spoke, she fell into silence involuntarily. Uchiha启 was indeed taught a lesson by Might Guy in school, during a practical combat class.
Although Uchiha启 didn't care at all, because Guy-sama had kicked both Obito (when he was young) and Uchiha Madara (during the Fourth Shinobi World War) with his feet. That line, 'I, Madara, am willing to call you the strongest,' was his highest praise.
However, while Uchiha启 didn't care, others didn't see it that way. Losing to a dead last like Might Guy, who couldn't use Ninjutsu, was simply a disgrace!
Uchiha启 tilted his head and looked at Kakashi and Rin, who had fallen silent. He knew that Rin had accidentally mentioned Obito, which had made both of their moods turn somewhat sour.
Uchiha启 knew that it wasn't a good time for him to stay any longer. Uchiha启 couldn't reveal the true situation of Uchiha Obito, and Uchiha Obito's eventual descent into darkness was largely orchestrated by Kakashi.
Although Rin Nohara also had her own thoughts in this, the true mastermind behind the scenes was Uchiha Madara. How could these little ants struggle against him?
"Then I'll take my leave," Uchiha启 stood up. "Don't be too sad. Life always moves forward. Although Obito and I weren't close, I believe Obito wouldn't want you two to spend the rest of your lives, which should be wonderful, holding onto your memories and sorrow for him. When you die and go to the Pure Land, and he asks you about the changes in the human world and your respective wonderful lives, would you really say you spent your lives in guilt?"
"Sorry, Qi-kun," Rin and Kakashi immediately replied after hearing Uchiha启's words, and tears even appeared in Rin's eyes.
"Don't thank me, we should be friends, right?" Uchiha启 stood up and waved his hand dismissively. However, just as he was about to leave, he suddenly looked at Kakashi: "Remember, if any Uchiha members come to trouble you, you know the reason. Come find me then. Understood?"
"Ah," Kakashi touched his crimson eye, thought for a moment, and then nodded. "I understand, Qi-kun. We are, of course, friends."
"Qi-kun, I'll see you out."
"No need, Rin. You stay with Kakashi. I still have to visit someone else."
Uchiha启 refused Rin's offer to see him out. As he walked out of the ward, he could still hear Rin saying things like 'Qi-kun is truly gentle' to Kakashi, which made Uchiha启 laugh a little.
Spending time with these two 'naive' people indeed made Uchiha启 feel relaxed. Aside from that, Uchiha启 still liked them very much, because Uchiha启 saw something in them that he rarely saw in himself.
That was a kind of hope, and also a kind of quality, and according to Uchiha启's memory, this hope and quality might not deteriorate in Kakashi.
"It's just that I don't have such things within me," Uchiha启 sighed. "If it weren't for survival, who would want to become like this? Being an ignorant 'naive' person is also a kind of happiness."
Thinking of this, Uchiha启 had already pushed open the door to Hyuga Aya's ward.
