The days bled into each other with a rare, welcome lack of mayhem.
It was a Wednesday afternoon when Trunks invited Goten and Melody to join him and Bulla—alongside a few of their closest friends—for pizza and karaoke at West City's most popular hangout spot.
The lovebirds accepted with absolute glee.
Taking to the sky, they flew across the landscape and joined up with the rest of the crew at their destination in no time flat.
The moment they stepped into the bustling karaoke bar, the upbeat music and loud laughter wrapped around them like a comfortable hug. Goten's grin stretched from ear to ear as he immediately nudged Melody with his elbow.
Goten: "Ready to embarrass yourself?" *he teased.*
Trunks waved them over from their massive reserved booth—already holding a microphone as if it were his birthright. Bulla sat beside him, sipping a colorful drink and looking equal parts amused and exasperated by her older brother's antics.
Melody warmly greeted the rest of the group gathered at the table—Pan, Marron, Majuub, Tami, and Pocari—who had all joined in on the midweek fun.
Melody: "Thanks for the invite!" *Melody voiced her gratitude, beaming broadly at Bulla.*
Bulla: *She smirked, swirling her drink lazily.* "Trunks picked the company, I picked the place. Which means someone better sing... I didn't reserve this booth for silence."
Trunks, already a drink or two in, was currently belting out the wrong lyrics to a classic rock song—completely and hopelessly off-key. The entire table groaned in unison, but Trunks couldn't care less. The night was young, and so were they.
Goten: *He leaned over to Melody, whispering with a mischievous grin.* "I dare you to pick the cheesiest love song possible."
The second Trunks finished his dizzy, tone-less version of 'I Love Rock 'N Roll', Melody stepped up and immediately queued up 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley.
Goten facepalmed the instant the beat kicked in, feeling a wave of second-hand embarrassment creeping up his neck. Melody was delightfully, unapologetically tone-deaf, and her off-key rendition was somehow even worse than what Trunks had just put them through.
Goten: "...Seriously, sweetheart?" *he whispered, shaking his head in disbelief.* "Of all the songs in the world, you just had to pick this one?!"
Goten glanced around the booth. Everyone was desperately trying to hide their amusement—except Trunks, who was literally howling with laughter and slapping the table.
Melody puffed her cheeks up like a blowfish before reaching over and smacking Trunks across the back of the head.
Melody: "Yah! I sound way better than you!" *She turned her full attention toward Goten, hands on her hips.* "Right, babe? Tell him!"
