Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Comprehending Skills - 2

Ethan held the comprehensive skill card in his hand and poured his spiritual energy into it.

[Activating Comprehensive Skill Card]

A soft hum resonated from the card, awaiting his command.

[Select the skill to imprint]

[Imprint the active skill: Summon Undead Knight into the Comprehensive Skill Card]

Ethan felt a surge of knowledge and memories being drawn from his mind and imprinted onto the comprehensive skill card, but just as abruptly, as if some unseen force had interfered, the process ground to a halt.

[Imprint Failed]

"It failed? Why did it fail?" Ethan frowned as he saw the imprinting had failed, and the skill card remained blank.

Then suddenly, a system prompt appeared.

[Notice: All skills belonging to Unique-grade professions are inherently classified as Unique and cannot be copied, imprinted, or learned by any other profession.]

Sir Shawn noticed Ethan's frown. "What? Your skills cannot be imprinted, right?"

"Yes," Ethan nodded.

"As expected. Skills of a unique-grade profession cannot be copied or imported." Sir Shawn nodded, and they turned their attention back to Shiro, who, unlike Ethan, was successfully imprinting his skill onto the comprehensive skill card.

The blank white card in his hand began to release a faint reddish glow, which gradually intensified until the entire card transformed from a comprehensive skill card into an actual Active Skill card.

"I imprinted my [Flame Spirit Calling] onto the card," Shiro said as he handed it to Sir Shawn.

"Good job," Sir Shawn said, picking up a few differently colored cards from his skill card box and handing them to Shiro.

Shiro's eyes glowed with excitement upon seeing the skill cards; he could tell what skill each of these cards had been imprinted with:

[Active Skill Card: Ice Spirit Calling]

[Active Skill Card: Mirror Spirit Summon]

[Active Skill Card: Morpher Calling]

"I can learn all these skills?" Shiro asked, excitement evident in his voice.

"Of course you can. These skills were imprinted onto these cards by spirit summoners of the past. Most of them are specific to your profession. You can learn any two of them, but leave one skill slot empty for later," Sir Shawn explained, then turned his attention toward Ethan.

"Let's see if you can learn the skills of other summoners. If it doesn't work, you'll have no choice but to clear dungeons until you acquire a skill, which can take weeks, if not months." Sir Shawn handed him a skill card.

[Active Skill Card: Flame Spirit Calling]

"It's Shiro's skill..." Ethan muttered.

"Try comprehending this skill," Sir Shawn instructed.

Ethan nodded and circulated his spiritual energy into the red, glowing skill card in his hand.

It released a faint light, and in the next instant, a flood of information appeared in his mind:

[Detected: You have learned an active skill possessing affinity with your profession.]

[Optimizing the skill to best suit the Necromancer profession.]

[Optimization Complete.]

[You have acquired the Active Skill [Summon Undead Flame Spirit].]

---

[Active Skill: Summon Undead Flame Spirit (Level: 7)]

[Summon an Undead Flame Elemental Spirit. The type of the summoned undead spirit is determined randomly. The summoned spirit possesses advanced battle instincts.]

[Skill Cost: 50 Spiritual Energy]

---

Along with the information about the skill, Ethan felt another stream of knowledge surge into his mind, making his eyes widen in shock—and, a second later, in excitement.

"Judging by your expression, I assume you were able to learn that skill?" Sir Shawn asked. "Why don't you show me your skill?"

Ethan nodded and activated his newly acquired ability.

[Summon Undead Fire Spirit: Skill Activated]

A massive surge of ghoulish green energy manifested on the ground, forming what looked like spectral gates before reshaping into a magic circle.

Its patterns were far more intricate and complex than the ones used in Shiro's skill.

From the undead magic circle, flames erupted and twisted into the shape of a humanoid figure made entirely of fire.

It had a burly, towering frame, its head burning like a candle, with its flames tinted faintly green.

The fiery spirit released a low, resonant hiss.

Ethan smiled in excitement and used his Detection Sense on it.

"Interesting, the skill seems to have become a profession-specific, powerful summon," Sir Shawn said, observing the undead flame spirit's attributes.

"I think I have found the specialty of my profession," Ethan said with a grin. "Can you give me more spirit summoning skill cards?"

Sir Shawn did not understand why he was asking specifically for spirit summoning skills, but he could feel that something ridiculous was about to happen.

So he handed Ethan every spirit-summoning skill card he possessed.

Ethan's eyes glowed with excitement.

Several skill cards floated in his hands, each radiating a different sensation and unique energy.

"Let's see," Ethan took a deep breath.

He felt as if he were waiting for the result of a lottery as he held the card glowing with thick yellow energy.

Just like before, he poured his energy into the card.

The information rebounded into his mind, and he instantly comprehended the skill.

[Detected: You have learned an active skill with affinity to your profession.]

[Optimizing the skill to best suit the Necromancer profession.]

[Optimization complete.]

[You have acquired the Active Skill: Summon Undead Fire Spirit.]

But something different occurred right after the optimization.

[Detected: You have acquired two summoning skills with identical natures.]

[Triggering the special effect of the Necromancer profession.]

[Beginning skill fusion.]

While the skill fusion took place, Ethan felt his mind buzzing intensely.

Strangely, it did not hurt or make him uncomfortable.

Instead, it felt as if his mind were being elevated to a higher state.

[Skill fusion complete.]

[Skill fusion successful.]

[The skills Summon Undead Fire Spirit and Summon Undead Lightning Spirit have been fused into a single summoning skill.]

[You have acquired the summoning skill: Summon Undead Spirits.]

"It worked…" Ethan felt like he had forgotten how to breathe as he checked his Skill Slots, and sure enough, he still had one empty slot.

"So this is how it is."

Without a moment of hesitation, Ethan began learning the spirit summoning skills one after another.

Ethan raised his hand, activating the skill.

[Summon Undead Spirits: Skill Activated]

Four differently sized undead magic circles manifested one after another in front of him, while Shiro and Sir Shawn watched with wide eyes and slack jaws.

From the first summoning circle, a surge of energy erupted as the dense concentration of power took form, transforming into a green-scaled western dragon standing 15 feet tall.

Its long, sharp-tipped tail and massive metal-like wings gleamed with an eerie sheen.

The dragon's slitted eyes locked onto Shiro and Sir Shawn with a threatening glare before it settled behind Ethan, spreading its wings around him protectively.

From the second summoning circle rose an ice spirit with a massive, tank-like humanoid body. Chunks of ice and frigid mist revolved around it like a floating armada.

From the third summoning circle, lightning exploded outward, and from within that crackling storm emerged an Undead Lightning Spirit.

Its body appeared draped in robes of living lightning, and its hair sparked with electric arcs.

From the fourth summoning circle, a green-hued humanoid spirit with ethereal wings materialized, wielding the element of wind as currents swirled and coiled around its form.
