Rain pounded the rooftop while Storm stood in his apartment doorway, staring at the empty living room.
Storm: Fuck. I'm too late.
A shadow appeared behind him.
Storm: Can I help you…
Random person: God damn, you got eyes in the back of your head or something? Relax man, I'm here to help.
Storm slowly turned.
Storm: And who the hell even are you?
Random person: Blaze.
Storm: Okay Blaze. Why you helping me?
Blaze: Why not? I know where Felix took your friends. You want the help or you wanna keep being dramatic?
Storm: Fuck it, won't hurt to get help…
Storm turned around. His eyes locked onto the flame-shaped mark under Blaze's eye, almost identical to his lightning mark.
Storm: Alright. How do we get to them?
Blaze: The place got no location. No map. No coordinates. Makes escaping impossible.
Storm: So we're gonna need…
Both of them at the same time: A portal gun.
Storm: You got one?
Blaze: Hell nah. But uh… looks like you do. Blaze pointed at the ground.
A portal gun lay there.
Storm: One of the boys must've dropped it.
Blaze: You sure they're boys?
Storm: Actually… I'm not. I'm just assuming.
Blaze chuckled.
Storm: You even know how to use this thing?
Blaze: No but I know a guy… who knows a guy… who knows how—
Storm side-eyed him.
Storm: Don't ever do that movie bullshit.
Blaze: My bad. I don't know why I did it. Anyway, you coming or standing there tryna look menacing?
Storm: I don't have to try. Come on.
Storm walked away without him. Blaze stood still like an NPC loading. Storm returned.
Blaze: Why you in a rush, man? I'm the one leading the way.
Storm: Let's just go.
Fade out.
Cut to the prison cell
Raven paced around.
Raven: Alright little bro, I'm tired of this cheap-ass cell. We need to break out.
Astrid: Sad thing is… it ain't cheap. Everything here is Ascendent-proof. So we basically humans right now.
Raven: So in other words it's impossible to leave?
Astrid: I exactly impossible.
Raven: Fuck.
Astrid: Not to mention we're in the middle of nowhere.
Raven: Great, looks like I'm going to be eating more of this tasteless porridge.
Astrid: Ahh its not that bad better than most Prison food
Raven: what does most Prison food taste like than
Astrid: Like buttcheacks sweat mixed with a little bit of balls
Raven: And how do you know how buttcheaks sweat taste like
Astrid: It seems like your forgetting that you spent most of our childhood sitting on my head.
Raven: You sure know a lot about this place.
Astrid: What can I say. I read a lot of books.
Fade out.
Fade in at an abandoned house
Storm stopped outside the door, remembering Mentor and the old days.
Blaze: You good?
Storm: Yeah. Just wondering why old houses suddenly in fashion.
Blaze: Alright then…
The door creaked open. Everything screeched inside like the house needed surgery.
Storm: Just like old times…
An old man appeared behind them. Both Storm and Blaze jumped.
Storm: Suspiciously like old times…
Blaze: I told you to stop doing that.
Old man: I told you stop bringing people here.
Blaze: And I told you I don't have a home.
Old man: What you want with your twig boyfriend?
Storm: I swear I'm not thin and I'm not gay.
Blaze: We got a portal gun. Can you help us use it or what?
Old man snatched it.
Old man: Where to?
Storm: The Universal Prison.
The old man froze.
Old man: Why in the infinite hell would you go there?
Blaze: We trying to free his friends.
Old man: You think it's smart starting beef with the Universal Government?
Storm: Too late. Help us or stall us, either way I'm going.
Old man: This thing is busted. Gimme five hours and I'll fix it.
Storm: Don't got a choice, do I?
Blaze: Come on man, roof. I wanna show you something.
They left.
Old man: And they say they not gay. They literally watching stars together.
Fade out.
Roof scene
Storm: Ay man… thanks for helping me.
Blaze: Sure thing…
Storm: What's in it for you though?
Blaze: Nothing. I just wanna help. Come on. Long-ass day tomorrow. Let's get some sleep.
Storm flinched. He remembered Uncle Calvin saying the same thing when he was a kid.
He went back inside.
Far away, a bounty hunter watched from the shadows.
Fade out.
Morning
Old man threw the portal gun at Storm's chest.
Old man: Here. Your toy. Fixed and shit.
Storm yawned: Thanks. Alright Blaze, let's dip and kick some ass.
Blaze: Bet.
Old man: Wait. Y'all just going in blind?
Blaze: Right… we need a plan.
Storm: I got a plan. I go kick some ass. Blaze saves the gay-looking brothers. Simple.
Old man: Fine. Don't make a plan then. If y'all die, I warned you.
He opened a portal.
Blaze: Don't worry old man, we'll be safe.
Blaze walked through.
Storm: Alright later—
Old man: Trevor.
Storm: Later Trevor.
Trevor: Later kid.
Storm grabbed the portal gun and went through.
Fade out.
Universal Prison Entrance
Two guards stood chatting like idiots.
Guard 1: Been thinking about going to a Taylor Swift concert.
Guard 2: You very certain you not gay?
Guard 1: I heard her concerts are to die for.
Guard 2: Do whatever gay shit you want. Just don't involve me in it.
A portal opened between them. A heavy beat dropped. Both guards flew back as a lightning blast launched them across the hall.
Storm stepped out all electrified and intimidating.
Blaze followed and ruined the whole vibe. The beat cut instantly.
Storm: Really? You had to ruin it?
Blaze: Didn't think you were an entrance guy.
Storm: Can we do that again?
Blaze: Sure.
They fist-bumped.
Storm: It's go time.
The beat resumed. Doors exploded open. Storm blasted forward while Blaze swept in with flames.
Five lightning guards rushed them.
Storm phantom-dashed two of them and beat them into paralysis, holding both by the skull and slamming them against the wall.
Storm: Where are they.
The guard refused to talk.
Storm blew both their heads clean off with one violent pulse.
Behind him, Blaze dropped three guards in a neat unconscious pile.
Storm: You couldn't roast them a lil?
Blaze: I don't have to kill them, if that's what you asking.
They blasted through the CELL wing.
Inside the cell
Astrid: You think Storm is really coming for us?
Raven: Honestly? I think we're alone. If he wanted to save us he would've done it by no—
BOOM.
A door blew off its hinges in slow motion, slicing a guard clean in half. His legs dropped in front of the cell and his upper body rag-dolled across the hall with the door.
Storm walked through the smoke.
Storm: Ladies need help?
Raven: This cell pissed me off so much I can't even cuss you out for that.
Astrid: I thought this place was Ascendent-proof?
Blaze: It is… unless you focus two Ascendents on one point.
Astrid: Interesting. And who are you?
Blaze: Friend of Storm's.
Storm: Come on. Let's move.
They ran toward the exit but stopped at the sight of an army of guards.
Storm: That's way too many.
They turned the other way and saw Felix… with two massive earth wielders behind him.
Astrid and Raven: GOD DAMN they are massive.
Felix stepped forward.
Felix: Nice to see you again, Storm.
Raven: Ay man let us go.
Felix: After all my men you killed? Not happening.
Storm: Whose fault is that?
Felix: We're at a stalemate. Kill or be killed. Your choice.
Storm: For the first time… you might be right.
Storm surged with lightning. Blaze, Raven, and Astrid lit up with flames.
Storm: You guys handle everyone else. Mosquito man is mine.
As both sides prepared to clash—
Astrid grabbed the portal gun and opened a portal behind them.
Astrid: Nope.
The three of them vanished back to Storm's house.
Storm: What the hell man.
Raven: Nice quick thinking ponytail.
Blaze: Storm let's be real. We were about to get our asses folded back there.
Storm: Yeah, yeah…
Astrid pointed out the window.
Astrid: Um… guys… looks like it's not over.
Outside, a massive swarm of bounty hunters gathered.
Blaze: Suddenly I'm regretting helping y'all.
Fade to black.
