Chapter 8 - Himeko's past

One option is to decipher these signals, but that will take time and might not be completed in three days.

Secondly, they would embark on an adventure: Welt Yang would travel in a spacecraft to use the power of the Herrscher of Reason at close range and destroy the celestial scout planet. This would eliminate the scout planet's signal and stop the erosion in Himeko's body.

The second path was undoubtedly an adventure for Welt Yang, who had not yet fully recovered his strength.

However, Welt Yang did not feel there was anything wrong with it. Whether it was saving his student or eliminating the threat the Celestials posed to humanity, he felt it was his duty.

Although Tesla expressed her strong displeasure with the behavior of Welt Yang, who never neglected his own safety, she had no choice but to let him go because she knew him well.

No one expected that this was actually a plan orchestrated by Ryusuke Murata, a scheme he had devised ever since he learned that Welt Yang was his daughter's teacher.

By taking Welt Yang to the Candy House to meet the Hughes family, Ryusuke Murata deliberately revealed his coordinates to the Sky People.

He had read about Welt Yang in Schicksal and was sure that the First Herrscher, who was upright, kind-hearted, and full of human weaknesses, would not stand idly by and watch his student die.

Therefore, as long as Himeko continues to suffer because of the Sky People's methods, to save his student, even if he hasn't fully gained Welt Yang's trust, he will have no choice but to take the risk and quickly resolve the matter of the Scout Star in the fastest, albeit most dangerous, way.

After all, Ryusuke Murata couldn't wait any longer; his body could fail at any moment, and his fabricated plan to attack Destiny could be exposed at any instant.

His deception could not last long using methods that reversed entropy, so he needed to accelerate everything, even at the cost of using his own daughter as a bargaining chip.

Besides, if he didn't do this, what motive would he have to follow Welt Yang on the mission to destroy the scout planet?

Only if his daughter suffered an accident would he, as a father, have a reason to go into space with Welt Yang and then secretly complete the search and replacement of the First Herrscher in that cabin where only the two of them were present.

Everything went smoothly, just as Ryusuke Murata had predicted. He followed Welt Yang into space, witnessed him using the power of the Herrscher of Reason to destroy the Scout Planet, and after exhausting that power, he was left weakened.

This moment marks the official completion of the transaction between Ryusuke Murata and Peppermint.

Thus, while communicating with Welt Yang and stalling for time by revealing his innermost thoughts, he also used Peppermint to connect him to the collective consciousness of the Outer Key, and even plotted to seize the key that was the core of the Outer Key.

Just after Peppermint fulfilled its promise, Ryusuke Murata mercilessly used the power of the Outer Key to kill Peppermint, and even imprisoned the entire Hughes family in the Candy House, launching a brutal attack on Welt Yang.

Everything happened so suddenly, but after Ryusuke Murata explained his previous actions, everything seemed so natural.

The supposed good father and the kind-hearted person who defied fate were all fake; they were just means to get closer to Welt Yang and gain his trust.

Perhaps Ryusuke Murata was truly acting for humanity at first, but now he has become a terrorist who, to achieve his own desires, is willing to harm his own daughter, betray his allies, and trample on his own humanity.

Welt Yang couldn't bring Ryusuke Murata back to the right path; the only thing he could do was kill him to prevent him from harming others further.

However, facing the attacks of the Outer Key—a currently incomprehensible dimensional weapon—Welt Yang was unable to even launch a basic counterattack.

For those who follow the laws of reason, incomprehensibility means inability to analyze, and inability to analyze means inability to win.

Therefore, under Ryusuke Murata's attack, Welt Yang was forced to constantly retreat, and even his body was easily cut into several pieces by the power of the Outer Key.

If he wasn't the Herrscher of Reason, the physical injuries would not have been fatal to him; otherwise, he would have died at the hands of Ryusuke Murata before he could even think of a way to break the deadlock.

In the midst of a tough battle, Welt Yang remembered the teachings he received from Einstein.

> "The Herrscher Core is an invariant in the imaginary space. Although exposing it is a very dangerous thing, in that world, it can serve as your North Star."

That was the instruction Einstein gave him after he learned that Einstein could freely condense a Herrscher's Core.

Through this memory, Welt Yang realized that just as the Herrscher Core could act as his North Star in the Imaginary Space, there must also be a "North Star" in the Outer Keys that could be fixed upon Ryusuke Murata.

Realizing this, Welt Yang caught a glimpse of the dimensional space and then used the Herrscher's power to restore his body, which had been cut by Ryusuke Murata.

After witnessing Welt Yang gradually understanding the properties of the Outer Key, the imprisoned Hughes clan also appeared at the appropriate moment, reminding him not to limit his thinking to three-dimensional space but to view the world from a higher dimension, recognize its existence, and comprehend its workings.

As the Herrscher of Reason, Welt Yang was an exceptional physicist. With the help of Hughes, he finally grasped the concept of higher dimensions and located Ryusuke Murata through the core of the Outer Key.

At that moment, the tide of the battle turned.

> "Cowards who reject the progress of civilization are the true enemies of humanity!"

While Ryusuke Murata was still giving his lengthy speech, venting his discontent with those in power like Welt Yang who controlled resources and authority, he completely ignored that the other party had blocked his attack and stood in front of him.

How is this possible?! How could he block my attack?!

Seeing Welt Yang, who had been completely helpless before, suddenly appear in front of him, Ryusuke Murata could neither comprehend nor accept it.

> "Once its mode of existence is understood, the effect of gravity is the same in all dimensions. If we return to the origin of space, even dimensional weapons will be ineffective."

It turns out that after understanding the properties of the Outer Key, Welt Yang not only located Ryusuke Murata through the Outer Key's core but also discovered gravity as an effective means of counterattack.

Subsequently, Welt Yang activated the third power of the Star of Eden: Singularity Reconstruction, succeeding in destroying the core of the Outer Key and rendering it completely useless as a dimensional weapon. At the same time, Ryusuke Murata, who controlled the core, was also destroyed.

This was the end for Ryusuke Murata.

Once the crisis was over, it was time for Welt Yang's story to begin.

He apologized to the elder of the Hughes clan, who was the Konpeito, for failing to save Peppermint and for breaking something important to the Hughes clan.

However, to the Hughes, Welt Yang was also deceived. He had already performed a great service by destroying the Celestials' scout planet and rescuing them from Ryusuke Murata's captivity.

Furthermore, although the Candy House can no longer be used as a dimensional weapon, its function as a mobile vehicle for dimensional jumps still works normally. Having lost their home on Earth, they will use the Candy House to embark on another interstellar journey, searching for the next civilization they can coexist with.

After learning of the Konpeito elder's decision, Welt Yang remarked, "Interstellar travel... If human civilization continues to develop, someday we will embark on this path, which can be seen as the fulfillment of his long-cherished wish."

Toffee couldn't understand why Welt Yang was still thinking about fulfilling Ryusuke Murata's long-cherished wish at that moment.

Her best friend, Peppermint, was killed by Ryusuke Murata, and she assumed Welt Yang hated him as much as she did.

> "Don't you hate him? He lied to you and even planned to replace you!"

Welt Yang stated frankly: "He was a fanatical martyr who went astray and put things in the wrong order. I am saddened and angered by the tragedy he caused you. But, personally, he was also a pathetic person."

After hearing Welt Yang's words, the Kinpeito elder sighed: "It is ironic that we were betrayed by humans, yet saved by them."

> "You saved me too. The reason I could overcome the limits of dimensional cognition in that instant was indeed thanks to your power, wasn't it?"

> "At that time, we could only try our luck... after all, we couldn't let the peppermint coins be sacrificed in vain."

> "Humanity is a dangerous civilization that will lead us to disaster, and I still believe that. But you are different. We will never forget your kindness. Guardian of humanity, good luck."

This is how the Konpeito elder of the Hughes clan defined Welt Yang, and that was also their blessing before their departure.

Soon after returning to Earth from space, Himeko regained consciousness.

To prevent Himeko from learning the truth, Welt Yang left her a farewell letter in Ryusuke Murata's voice.

Welt Yang concealed the entire truth from Himeko, including Ryusuke Murata's actions, the threat of the Celestials, and the fact that he was the leader of Anti-Entropy.

He didn't want Himeko to know that her revered father would be capable of doing such a thing; the truth was too cruel.

Nor did he want Himeko to get involved in the Celestials' troubles, as that would be too dangerous.

Welt Yang believed that by doing that, Himeko could continue living as a normal person, far from danger and conflict.

Unexpectedly, Himeko was still deeply affected by her father's death. Thus, while going through his belongings, she discovered information about his work at Schicksal before he passed away. She then decided to undergo Schicksal's artificial Stigmata experiment and become a Valkyrie fighting on the most dangerous front line.

In the comics, Welt Yang, looking back in 2029, repeatedly regrets his decision.

In the future, after he and 'Otto' infiltrated the Celestials' frontline base, they discovered in the Celestials' database that they were actually paying attention to Himeko.

Otto already knew this news for a long time but chose to keep it a secret.

At this point, Welt Yang's description of Himeko is particularly noteworthy.

> "I can't be mistaken about my student, but that's impossible, because of her..."

Because of what?

Evidently, this incomplete statement is not a good thing.

Otto had no choice but to explain to Welt Yang that the Himeko the Celestials were concerned about was not the Himeko Welt Yang knew, but a human from an apparently parallel world.

The theory mentioned here by 'Otto' comes from Otto, which is quite interesting.

In other words, this 'Otto' only resembles Otto but is not the same person.

However, the true identity of 'Otto' is not revealed in the comics.

Otto explained that this world had been detected by the Celestials, who were currently researching methods to invade it, which is why Himeko's information was in the database.

Even after learning that the Himeko from the intelligence was not his student, Welt Yang was still determined to stop the Sky People.

Otto, of course, disagreed; otherwise, he wouldn't have hidden this information from Welt Yang all this time. He just didn't expect Welt Yang to end up finding out.

> "Do you know what you are doing? That world has nothing to do with us. You have no obligation or need to help them."

> "If the Celestials devour their civilizations and become stronger, posing a greater threat to our world, that reason is enough."

> "But as their world continues to develop, it could also become hostile to us, turning into an existence more dangerous than the Celestials."

> "I cannot guarantee that this possibility is not possible, but I believe that if the other party is a contagious entity, we will certainly find a way to peacefully coexist and become allies."

> "You are more naive than I thought. It is not my place to say this, but you have been deceived so many times; can't you learn the lesson?"

> "Indeed, I have suffered countless acts of malice and deception; I have been used, betrayed, and hurt. However, I have also witnessed many more miracles wrought by kindness and trust. Therefore, I still choose to believe."

> "Very well, now let's go save someone else's world."

Otto couldn't persuade Welt Yang otherwise and had to accept his decision.

Thanks to their combined efforts, the reconnaissance force sent by the Celestials was destroyed, but their spacecraft also suffered a devastating blow.

With the damaged hull, destroyed engine, malfunctioning navigation, and even completely ineffective communication methods, although the Herrscher Core and the Soul Steel body are not easily damaged, they will both end up becoming drifting dust in the vast universe, in a space where time and space have lost their meaning.

Otto, as expected, unleashed a torrent of mockery upon witnessing Welt Yang's tragic end.

However, at that moment, Welt Yang still wasn't thinking about himself but was asking 'Otto' if what they had annihilated was the entire reconnaissance team sent by the Sky People.

> "According to the base report, yes. Are you still worrying about other people's business? If you were counting on their help, you should give up now. You worked for them in vain, and this time you lost your life."

> "I never expected anything in return."

> "That same thing again; this 'good old man' attitude is truly unpleasant."

> "You have every right to be sad. After all, I once told a big lie to a child with good intentions, but things turned out to be completely contrary to what I desired."

> "Hey, now that something like this has happened, why do you still want to meddle in other people's affairs?"

> "Because I have always believed that kindness is the most precious treasure of a civilization, and since I misused it in the past, I am even more determined not to stop or abandon my faith."

> "Saying such nonsense and then disappearing into nothingness... What a magnificent ending!"

As Otto made his sarcastic remarks, he looked up and saw a light flickering in the starry sky in front of him.

What is that?

> "Human bodies are not as practical as Hughes's... Hey, Kira, isn't this the target location? Seriously, we suddenly received a message from the elder and were assigned an emergency transport mission. Passenger Welt Yang and his luggage have been picked up. Destination: Earth. Right?"

Otto, treated as luggage: ???

The speaker was a woman who seemed somewhat unfamiliar (Nicholas, a character from the Durandal visual novel, who has a symbiotic relationship with Shigure Kira and, according to the manga, is currently controlled by Sugar of the Hughes clan).

> "Oh."

Otto and Welt Yang easily recognized the blue-haired girl who greeted them.

Fate Valkyrie Shigure Kira.

After exchanging greetings, Shigure Kira reminded Welt Yang: "Ah, by the way, our mission is to take you home. Follow the navigation and don't deviate."

Otto, once again ignored: ?

> "That's enough, thank you. The path connecting to another world will be built by humanity itself."

Welt Yang expressed his understanding.

Subsequently, under Shigure Kira's command, Black Sugar dragged 'Otto' into the dimensional passage opened by the Candy House, with Welt Yang following closely behind them.

At the end of the comic, the narration suggests: This is not the end but the beginning of a new story. A new journey across the galaxy.

After finishing the reading of the comic, the question-and-answer room fell into a long silence.

Suddenly, a dull thump was heard coming from the question-and-answer room.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw that Himeko, who had held firm after being controlled by the Xuanyuan Sword, finally couldn't hold on anymore and collapsed to the floor.

After a brief but intense moment, the group gathered the unconscious Himeko and the weakened Himeko so that everyone could take care of them.

This time, no one commented on the content of the comic.
