Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Navy is in a frenzy! Garp, set sail on the seas!

On the other end of the den den mushi, Sengoku fell into a prolonged silence.

The face mimicking his expression had long lost its anger and impatience, leaving only a heart churning with monstrous waves beneath a countenance unfazed by collapsing mountains.

After a long while,

Sengoku's voice, suppressing extreme shock, slowly came through.

"I understand."

"This matter is too high-level; I will send people to handle it."

His tone became incredibly serious, carrying the resolve of a Fleet Admiral.

"And you, you scoundrel! If you dare to again..."

Click!

Garp cleanly hung up the phone.

At Marineford, the Fleet Admiral's office.

Sengoku held the receiver, listening to the busy signal, and the veins on his forehead popped out one by one.

The next second,

"Garp—! You incorrigible bastard—!"

The Fleet Admiral's roar almost lifted the roof of the entire Marineford... On the warship's deck.

Garp casually tossed the den den mushi to Bogard, a triumphant, mischievous grin on his face.

"BWAHAHAHA! This guy, still so easy to anger!"

He completely ignored the awestruck yet strange gazes of the surrounding Marine soldiers, and also ignored the still bleeding wounds on his body.

He directly sat down cross-legged on the deck.

Closing his eyes,

that massive torrent of information once again clearly emerged in his mind.

Chakra Refining Technique.

A brand new power system, completely different from Haki.

Extracting energy from the body and spirit, gathering it in the dantian, and circulating it through the meridians.

For Garp, who had already honed his physique and Haki to the peak of the world, understanding this theory was incredibly simple.

He began to follow that method, calming his mind and sensing the energy within his body.

Soon,

besides the Haki surging like a river, a faint, new energy, like a mountain stream, was precisely captured by him!

"Oh?"

Garp's grin widened even further.

Found it!

He began to carefully control this new energy, letting it flow slowly within his body along a specific trajectory.

This process was so novel that it excited him.

After a while,

Garp suddenly opened his eyes, a sharp glint bursting forth!

He stood up, walked to the ship's rail, and looked at the boundless blue sea below, a wild, childlike smile of anticipation on his face.

"All of you, watch this old man carefully!"

Under the bewildered and uncertain gazes of all the Marine soldiers,

Garp directly stepped one foot over the ship's rail!

"Mr. Garp!"

Bogard's heart skipped a beat!

However, the expected loud splash of falling into the water did not occur.

Garp's foot was firmly planted on the surface of the sea.

Just standing there.

Centered on his sole, circles of fine ripples slowly spread out.

"..."

The entire deck instantly became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Everyone's eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets, and their mouths were wide enough to fit a fist.

What did they see?

The marine hero, Monkey D. Garp... standing on the sea surface?!

How was this possible!

He wasn't a Devil Fruit user!

Under everyone's petrified gazes, Garp took another step.

One step.

Two steps.

He walked leisurely on the sea surface as if strolling, his posture even more relaxed and carefree than walking on flat ground.

"BWAHAHAHA!"

Garp turned around, looking at his subordinates on the deck who were completely dumbfounded, and let out a deafening roar of laughter.

His laughter echoed across the entire sea!

"Did you see that!"

He pointed at his feet, then at himself, his face full of smugness and wild abandon.

"This thing!"

"It's really f*cking useful!"

Garp's wild laughter gradually subsided.

He stood on the sea surface, feeling the gentle touch of the waves coming from beneath his feet.

This feeling... it was so novel!

He looked down at his reflection in the water, then lifted his foot and gently tapped, sending out circles of ripples.

Bogard stood by the ship's rail, pushing up his sunglasses, his eyes beneath the lenses revealing an unconcealable storm of shock.

"Mr. Garp..."

"What exactly is this...?"

Garp didn't turn back, just grinned.

"BWAHAHAHA!"

"This old man's new toy!"

He spoke casually, but his mind was racing.

He closed his eyes, carefully replaying the information that had appeared out of nowhere in his mind.

Every detail of the method called Chakra Refining Technique was crystal clear.

But when he tried to organize it into steps that could be taught, he found it impossible to even begin.

This thing wasn't something he learned!

It was forced into him!

It was an unreasonable, direct knowledge imprint, like an initiation ritual!

It bypassed all learning and understanding processes, directly becoming an instinct of his body!

Just like eating, drinking, or throwing a punch!

There was no way to teach it!

"Tsk."

Garp clicked his tongue unhappily, opened his eyes, a deep sense of regret flashing within them.

What a pity.

What a damn shame!

If this thing could be promoted in the Marine, how much would the survival rate of those young Marine brats increase when they carried out missions at sea?

This was far more practical than any Six Powers!

But the thought was only fleeting.

If he couldn't teach it, then so be it.

It was enough that this old man could use it himself!

His thoughts drifted back to the completely destroyed canyon.

Back to the black-skinned brute covered in blue electrical arcs.

More combat details surfaced in Garp's mind.

That opponent's body, composed of lightning, called the "Lightning Release Armor."

That ridiculously fast movement speed.

And those three fingers that could easily pierce through anything, even drawing blood from his fists.

Those flashy yet terrifyingly powerful moves... Garp remembered that the cold, mechanical voice had called those moves "Ninjutsu."

"Ninjutsu..."

Garp muttered the word softly.

He spread his palm, and a faint, almost invisible energy gathered in his palm.

This was Chakra.

Chakra Refining Technique merely granted him this energy.

But how to use it?

How to turn it into a Lightning Release armor?

How to turn it into an indestructible spear?

All he could do now was attach it to the soles of his feet, allowing him to walk on water!

This was just... a beginner's gift package, wasn't it?!

The way that guy called the Third Raikage used it, that was the true form of this power!

A stronger surge of excitement and longing rushed up from the depths of Garp's heart!

The feeling was a hundred times more intense than just learning to walk on water!

So... that so-called "instance" was far more than just a satisfying battle!

It was an entire, never-before-heard-of, brand new power system!

Garp suddenly turned around, his gaze burning as he looked in the direction of the now distant Foosha Village.

His eyes were no longer merely playful and curious.

Instead, it was the look of... a hungry wolf seeing a grand feast!

Since clearing an instance could drop the most basic Chakra Refining Technique,

did that mean... if he fought better, got a higher evaluation, or... tackled more difficult instances,

he could drop the other moves of that black-skinned brute?!

He suddenly remembered the colorful "time fragments" he saw before entering the instance.

A blonde youth gathering a blue energy ball... a black-armored man wielding a red lightsaber... a green giant destroying a city... and a white-haired dog demon holding a giant demon blade... Were those... all other instances?!

Did each fragment represent a completely different world?

A completely different, brand new power system?!
