The air in the hall changed the moment Caedmon said it.
I felt it before I fully processed the words — a drop in temperature that had nothing to do with the weather, the specific chill of something that had been buried for twelve years suddenly breaking the surface in a room full of people who had no business knowing it existed. The Moonfall treason order. I knew of it. Not completely, not the way someone who had held it in their hands knew it, but enough — fragments pulled from old Blackmoor records that had never matched the royal version, references in correspondence that didn't line up, dates that contradicted each other in ways that only mattered if you were looking for the contradiction deliberately.
I had been looking for a long time.
