After two months of isolation and treatment on Vadir, tens of thousands of Kaili people were finally able to leave the quarantine point. B1 Battle Droids loaded with service modules acted as their translators.
Kote discovered that the Kaili people were actually a very similar group to the Mandalorians, both valuing combat as honor, but their living environment was still in a primitive society, without even a true government.
As Kaili people temporarily residing here, they would help other Mandalorians with various tasks every day. In their free time, Kote would lead or send people to teach them Mandalorian combat techniques, and also help them train in the newly built barracks, so they could be useful when they returned to Kalee in the future.
At the same time, Kote also sent a communication to Senator Palpatine, the only Galactic Council member he currently knew.
Palpatine, who had already returned to Coruscant, quickly connected when he saw the communication was from Kote.
"Is there anything, Governor Kote?" Palpatine asked kindly.
"Senator Palpatine, I would like to ask if the Republic is aware that the Yamri people are currently attacking the Kaili people?" Kote wanted to first ascertain the Republic's knowledge before discussing further matters.
Upon hearing this, Palpatine exclaimed, "Such a thing still exists within the Republic! We must make the Yamri people stop this aggression! Report to the Council!" Anyone unaware might have thought he was truly a good person.
"Wait, Senator Palpatine, I will bring the evidence of the atrocities committed by the Yamri people. Otherwise, the Republic will not believe such a thing," Kote stopped Palpatine, telling him not to rush.
"Then I will listen to you, Governor Kote. The Republic will only become better with people like you. I will wait for you on Coruscant," Palpatine inwardly rejoiced, not expecting to see Kote again so soon, and that Kote had thought of him first this time.
Kote also didn't forget about Sundari. Almec had already been taken to Sundari for interrogation, so many political matters were primarily handled by Satine.
Upon connecting the communication, he saw Satine's somewhat tired face. After all, many things were previously handled by Almec and those ministers. Now, with the ministers being questioned and Almec arrested, and the deputy ministers not being as proficient, Satine was very overworked.
"Wow, Cousin, you look really exhausted," Kote was startled, not expecting that arresting Almec would leave no one to handle political affairs, making his Cousin so tired.
"It's alright, I'm used to it. Tell me, what is it this time?" After nearly several months, Satine had become accustomed to it, though the traces of her previous exhaustion had not yet faded.
"Nothing much, I just want to know who our Sector's Senator is currently?" Kote had not known who the Mandalorian Sector's Senator in the Republic was for so long, otherwise, it would be difficult to help himself when the time came.
"Theoretically, I should be the Senator for the Mandalorian Sector, but given the current situation, I can't go to Coruscant. If you wish, you can hold a vote within the Sector to elect you as Senator, or simply be appointed directly," Satine yawned.
Kote was pleasantly surprised. This would add another identity for him, allowing him to interact with more racial representatives and more events. He immediately agreed.
"I will send a report to the Galactic Council, but please, do not do anything that harms the interests of the Mandalorians," Satine said seriously.
"Understood, Duchess!" Kote saluted playfully. Satine smiled, realizing she had overthought it. How could Kote possibly propose anything detrimental to the Mandalorians?
After ending the communication, Kote ordered a ship to be prepared, along with evidence of the Kaili people's enslavement, to seek justice from the Republic.
"Nehaal, come with me. Let the Galaxy know that joining the Republic doesn't mean you can only be bullied," Kote called out to Nehaal, who was practicing his aim.
"Alright! Sanction the Huk people!" Nehaal said happily.
Kote, accompanied by Nehaal and Spider Squad, headed to Coruscant. The last time he came, he harbored the desire to join the Jedi Order. This time, he came to speak on behalf of a race, hoping for a good outcome.
Upon arriving at Coruscant, the kuat-class docked on the landing pad next to the Senate. Palpatine was already waiting for Kote's arrival.
"My friend, you've finally arrived. I heard the news of your appointment, it seems we are now colleagues, Councilman Kote," Palpatine said teasingly.
"Perhaps I never wanted to be a Senator, and merely acted out of a sense of justice, unwilling to let a race be treated as commodities. Let's talk as we walk," Kote, with Nehaal and Palpatine, took a shuttle to the Council building first, with the Spider team following closely behind.
The three first arrived at Palpatine's office. Kote showed Palpatine the data on the Kaili people and the tragic state they were in when they were found.
"Hmm... if these are presented to the Council, they might garner more sympathy, but whether to send people to Kalee for support will still depend on the Senators' votes," As an experienced Senator, Palpatine immediately knew whether this matter could pass.
But in reality, what did this have to do with him? It was merely a step to gain Kote's favor, and he even had to let him fail. Then, he would offer comfort, speaking of the Republic's decay and various shortcomings, wouldn't Kote then begin to lean towards the Republic's opposition?
Kote nodded. He knew this was just a process he had to go through in the Republic. After all, with the Republic's sluggishness, it wouldn't be resolved in a few months, and the Republic courts would need even longer to handle this matter.
"Tomorrow, this month's regular meeting of the Galactic Council will be held. We can try voting then. I will help you submit the proposal to Chancellor Valorum," Palpatine said.
"Thank you, Senator Palpatine," Kote expressed his gratitude, as he was indeed unfamiliar with such procedures.
Kote then left Palpatine's office and returned to his own. Spider and his team had completed their checks, ensuring nothing would threaten anyone. The Mandalorian Sector's office staff consisted of only four people, serving merely as a mouthpiece to relay messages back home.
The Wookiee Senator, upon hearing of Kote's arrival, came directly from her room via elevator to Kote's room. Kote was surprised to see Chewbacca and a Wookiee he didn't recognize.
"Why are you on Coruscant, Chewbacca? And who is this?" Kote asked Chewbacca.
"Awoooo!" Chewbacca replied that this was Yalua, their Wookiee Senator to the Galactic Council, and that Alaris had come out to play since there hadn't been much going on recently.
"Hello, Senator Yalua," Kote stepped forward to shake hands, then embraced Chewbacca.
Senator Yalua then expressed her purpose. She had heard about Kote's visit and expressed her support, believing that people like Kote were truly too few. She wished to represent Kashyyyk and Mandalore in more cooperation to deepen their ties. Kote immediately thought this was a good thing, and they then discussed further cooperation matters.
They signed a bilateral cooperation trade treaty, allowing Mandalorians to travel to Kashyyyk and its colonies for trade cooperation, and vice versa for the Wookiee, exchanging goods. Kote hadn't expected to suddenly sign a treaty, it seemed he was doing quite well as a Senator. Afterwards, the two excused themselves, and Kote prepared to head to the Jedi Temple to see how their investigation into the Sith was progressing.
