Magic in the Clover Kingdom might not be as abstract or spiritual as a Hunter's Nen, yet it undeniably connects to one's soul.
Yuuki never imagined that his soul would awaken such a power.
Suppressing the astonishment swelling inside him, he kept his expression calm while activating the ability known as "Spell Replication."
Magic List:
① Water Creation Magic — Holy Fist of Love
② Water Creation Magic — Water Healing
③ "Blank"
④ "Blank"
Before gaining new pages, half of his grimoire's four blank pages were already occupied.
However, this replication wasn't permanent. He could replace the copied spells at any time, so there was no need to worry about wasted space.
Honestly, Yuuki had nothing to complain about. One was an offensive spell, the other a healing one — a perfectly balanced start for him. Not everyone would be as kind as Sister Lily, after all, casually lending him their grimoire.
At that moment, the silver mana enveloping both grimoires faded away.
"Thanks, Sister Lily."
Yuuki smiled warmly as he handed her light-blue grimoire back.
"We're all family, Yuuki. No need to thank me."
Sister Lily shook her head helplessly as she took it back, her sky-blue eyes glimmering with curiosity.
It was clear that Yuuki had just activated his magic.
While returning the grimoire, Yuuki discreetly observed her and noticed she was completely unaffected.
So, a simple spell replication didn't harm the original grimoire's owner.
Yuuki nodded to himself, reassured.
"All right, let's head home and prepare for the celebration. Tonight, everyone gets three sweet potatoes each!"
The priest laughed heartily, scooping up one of the smaller children and pumping his fist in excitement.
"I'll go find Asta and Yuno," Yuuki said quickly, snapping back to focus. Remembering what came next, he turned and dashed out of the tower.
"Yuuki — please look after those two!"
Sister Lily called after him, her tone tinged with concern.
Her gentle nature made it easy for her to notice how Yuno's cold attitude and Asta's crushed spirit earlier had left her worried.
"Don't worry!"
Yuuki stopped briefly, turned with a reassuring grin, and waved before vanishing from sight.
Once he stepped outside the Grimoire Tower, Yuuki's expression turned serious.
He had almost forgotten about a crucial figure about to appear — Lebuty Salik!
A former member of the Magic Knights' Purple Orca Squad, Lebuty had been expelled after a mission failure and internal betrayal, turning to banditry.
Earlier, he had been lurking among the onlookers in the tower, setting his sights on Yuno's four-leaf grimoire — planning to steal and sell it.
While a grimoire could only be used by its rightful owner, it could still be taken by others.
And once a mage lost their grimoire, they would be unable to cast any of its spells — reduced, effectively, to a cripple.
In the original flow of events, Asta would use this crisis — facing death at Lebuty's hands — to awaken his five-leaf grimoire.
Normally, Asta and Yuno would make it through unscathed. But Yuuki wasn't sure whether his presence in this world had already caused a butterfly effect.
Of course, beyond rushing to help Asta and Yuno, Yuuki also had another motive — Lebuty's magic itself!
Now that he understood his own Replication Magic, Yuuki had mentally ranked all the spells he knew existed within the Clover Kingdom.
The top of that list was obvious: Time Magic.
But that was in the hands of the Wizard King himself — attempting to take that grimoire was suicide.
So, second place on Yuuki's list wasn't Space Magic, Dark Magic, World Tree Magic, or Light Magic…
It was Permeation Magic, wielded by Geldre Poizot, Captain of the Purple Orcas!
Permeation Magic — a spell that allowed the user to vanish for a period of time.
At first glance, it sounded like simple invisibility. But this "vanishing" was far more than that.
When activated, Geldre didn't merely become invisible — no attack could touch him.
Yes, it was almost like Obito's intangible state from another world.
Except Geldre's wasn't spatial phasing. Obito's body slipped into another dimension and could be countered by other spatial users.
Geldre's Permeation, however, rendered him truly untouchable — even demonic magic couldn't harm him. He could still move, fight, and cast spells while in that state.
That was why Yuuki ranked it second only to Time Magic.
Compared to the grandeur of the Elf arc, the Devil arc was where the real terror lay. Without a countermeasure, Yuuki would be nothing more than cannon fodder.
As Asta and the others once said, Geldre in his Permeation state was practically invincible.
Of course, it wasn't truly invincible. Certain means could detect his presence, but none could touch him.
Without Asta's Anti-Magic, Geldre could have easily escaped under the noses of all eight other captains.
Asta's magic was simply unfair — the ultimate counter to all others.
Yuuki's mind connected Lebuty and Geldre.
Both had similar traits.
Lebuty's Chain Magic allowed him to seal his opponent's mana and restrict their movements. According to him, his magic was "invincible."
It might sound arrogant, but in a sense, he wasn't wrong. If you couldn't avoid those chains, once bound, you were finished.
Ironically, both Lebuty and Geldre were eventually defeated by Asta.
Later in the story, the two would fight side by side — defeating an elf-possessed mage in an instant. They were dubbed the "Invincible Duo."
It might have started as a joke, but it still proved just how terrifying their combined magic truly was.
Yuuki suspected that, aside from Captain Yami — who could sense opponents through Ki — not a single other captain could withstand a surprise attack from those two.
"Chain Magic, huh… looks like today's turning out to be quite the fruitful day."
Yuuki murmured with a faint smile. It quickly faded, replaced by his usual calm expression — though his pace quickened significantly.
