A young man walked down the streets of Sunrise Town, head held high, and chin slightly raised. His narrow eyes were sharp like swords, his shoulders broad, and a gentle smile rested on his handsome face, the picture of a refined scholar. He seemed completely unaware of the conversation unfolding in the Headmaster Michael's office.
He was clearly in good spirits; the betrayal of his so-called companions yesterday didn't seem to weigh on him at all. In fact, he had already pushed the entire incident out of his mind, just thinking about them made him feel like vomiting on the spot.
His destination was the clinic of Master Physician Qin, an old physician who was a teacher at the Sunrise Academy and also treated patients in the town. Though Master Physician Qin was a grumpy old man, Su Wen respected him deeply. The Master Physician had not only taught him spiritual medical theory but also allowed him to gain hands-on experience, and even earn a little side money, by helping at the clinic.
Master Physician Qin was the straightforward type who rarely spoke about anything unrelated to medicine. His assistant, however, was quite the opposite. Assistant Physician Lu was talkative and sociable, running his own small clinic in Yellow Town, which he opened only once a week. Yellow Town lay near Five River Village, at the foot of the mountains where Su Wen's grandparents lived. Whenever Su Wen visited them, he often helped treat patients there in the assistant's stead.
As soon as Su Wen reached the clinic, he heard Master Physician Qin's voice thundering from inside:
"You brat! Why did you mix Fevergrass with Bone-mending powder? Do you want the patient's bones to grow out of their skin?!"
The assistant physician, a man in his early thirties with soft rabbit ears and a perpetually nervous smile, scratched the back of his head.
"M-Master, that man was only five feet tall, and his wife is six feet tall! He kept begging me for a pill to make him taller. Honestly, I admired his determination, so… I thought, why not give it a try?"
Master Physician Qin narrowed his eyes dangerously, "Don't tell me…"
Assistant Physician Lu straightened his back, spoke with misplaced righteousness, "I made him a height-increasing pill using bone-mending powder and Fevergrass! It worked… sort of. His height didn't increase, but his right arm grew by ten centimetres!"
Master Physician Qin's mouth twitched violently, "And what about the left arm?"
Assistant Physician Lu looked away, a little embarrassed, "Ah, T-The left arm actually shrank by ten centimetres. So I thought, no big deal, I'll just make a reverse pill to fix it!"
Master Physician Qin said with a feeling of dread, "A reverse pill…Don't tell me?"
Assistant Physician Lu somewhat proud, "Yes! The Bone-Dissolving Pill!"
Master Physician Qin was shocked out of his mind, "You, WHAT?!"
Assistant Physician Lu nodded enthusiastically, completely oblivious to the world burning around him, and said earnestly, "I tested it immediately! And it worked perfectly… just not where we expected."
Master Physician Qin's voice dropped to a whisper, as if afraid of the answer, "I'm afraid to ask, but where did it work?"
Assistant Physician Lu coughed lightly, looking guilty, "His left leg got smaller instead."
After a long deadly silence, finally, Master Physician Qin slammed his palm on the table.
"You brat! How did someone like you ever become a physician?! You're a danger to the human anatomy!"
Assistant Physician Lu raised a hand weakly, trying to salvage the situation, "Well… at least he's more symmetrical now?"
Master Physician Qin roared in disbelief, "Symmetrical?! You turned him into a walking question mark!"
At that moment, Su Wen, who had been standing at the doorway, couldn't help but felt a chill ran down his spine. He wondered if Assistant Physician Lu is left loose in this world, it will be really a catastrophe.
"Cough Cough… old man Master Physician Qin, Assistant Physician Lu" Su Wen clasped his hand in greeting and smartly didn't ask any thing about the previous situation as to not to get involved in the situation or otherwise face danger of a beating by the whole town.
There was a rare smile on the face of Master Physician Qin when he saw his face, and as if suddenly remembered something turned to look at the man on his side who was beaming with joy as if controlling himself with a thin thread and share his genius business idea with the little genius.
Thinking of this Master Physician Qin suddenly felt danger as he does not want Su wen to be corrupted by this plague of physician, therefore before Assistant Physician Lu could return the greeting, he immediately said, "You are not leaving for Central Continent yet, right?"
"Not yet, I will go back to the village and take care of my grandparents. I don't want to leave them alone yet. I will breakthrough to Foundation Establishment soon and then I won't have to worry about my lifespan. I will have plenty of time to travel with a long lifespan."
Although Master Physician Qin was a little disappointed, he didn't say anything, even the excited Assistant Physician Lu, didn't say anything. They both nodded and respected his decision. He invited him to sit on the couch and took three cups and a bottle of wine.
He poured the wine into the cups and gestured to both of them…
Master Physician Qin asked calmly, "You will be going back right?"
Su wen took the cup and gently took a sip fully tasting the wine and emotions, and replied softly, "Yes, I will leave after doing some shopping at the Treasure Tower and lunch at Emerald Leaf Pavilion."
Master Physician Qin nodded and looked at the young man with some melancholy in his eyes. Su wen and Assistant Physician Lu had a similar personality, they both always try to cause trouble and enjoy life to the fullest, but Su wen while practising medicine becomes a completely different person like an expert fully focused on the work. He even provides some ideas which feel like they are out of this world, making him click his tongue in wonder. On the other hand, Assistant Physician Lu, he also does things out of this world but that makes his blood pressure out of control.
Seeing the old man looking at him and sighing, Assistant Physician Lu immediately shrunk his neck.
Master Physician Qin replied softly, "Good… Good"
As if remembering something, he searched his storage ring and took out something out a green coloured pouch and tossed it to Su Wen, "You are also practicing soul cultivation, use them well."
Su wen unconsciously caught the pouch and when he peered inside, he was stunned. There were lying many spiritual herbs and seeds which helps the soul cultivators to breakthrough to the Soul Awakening Realm. With these, he wouldn't have to spend a lot of money at Treasure Tower except for some specific herbs.
Before Su wen could say anything, Assistant Physician Lu also tossed him a pouch and when he looked inside, he had a strange expression on his face. Seeing his expression, Assistant Physician Lu's rabbit ears perked up, and he gave a proud smile, and said smugly "You're practicing body cultivation too, right? That pouch contains nine types of Yang-rich spiritual herbs and pills. They'll strengthen your body, boost your resistance to poison, and make your blood qi thicker and more vibrant." He leaned closer and elbowed Su Wen with a conspiratorial chuckle, and said, "You're at that age, after all. These will help you a lot… hahaha!"
Su wen was wondering which herbs to buy from the Treasure tower for the body refinement but now looking at this pouch he couldn't help but sigh. More than half of the spiritual herbs, he need for breakthrough to foundation establishment realm, are present in these two pouches.
Su wen without any shame put the two pouches into his storage ring, finished up his cup. Then he stood up and bowed deeply and thanked them for taking care of him from the bottom of his heart.
After bowing, he took out a book and a jade slip from his storage bag and gave the book to the old man and the jade slip to the middle aged man.
"This book contains most of the medicine knowledge of a human heart from the mortal point of view, which he wrote from the knowledge of his previous life." Su wen said, leaving old man stunned and then he looked at Assistant Physician Lu and said, "This is the recipe of the Hair Growing Pill which I developed last year. If you concoct this pill and sell it, it will earn you a lot of business" Su wen smiled.
Su wen turned clasped his hand then turned around and walked out of the clinic without looking back, Assistant Physician Lu who looking at the pill recipe was shocked at first and then started laughing wildly, "You brat… I will be rich with this pill…hahaha.".
Old man glanced at him and snorted, then he looked at the back of the young man and smiled and thought to himself, 'Good, Good you brat… I wonder what your destiny in the future will be.'
