Chapter 85 - City Lord's Mansion

Without wasting any time, they walked straight toward the City Lord's manor, as if they were merely visiting distant relatives.

Young Master K strolled through the streets of Moon City with his hands behind his back, posture relaxed yet naturally imposing. His scholarly, refined face drew attention wherever he passed. Vendors paused mid-shout, cultivators slowed their steps, and even ordinary townsfolk turned around for a second look.

Whispers followed him.

Some young girls blushed and lowered their heads in embarrassment.

Some older women openly stared, their eyes shining with undisguised interest, as if they were just one step away from pouncing on him.

Even passing cultivators could not help but steal glances, silently wondering which great sect had produced such an otherworldly young master.

It was as if the entire street had unknowingly become his stage.

Su Wen couldn't help but look at Young Master K's back with a strange expression.

He thought for a moment and transmitted through Soul Sense,

"Wife… this is the city where you were born and spent your childhood. Don't you want to visit your home, or the places you liked… one last time before we leave for good?"

Young Master K suddenly stopped.

He turned back and looked at Su Wen.

He stared at him for about three seconds.

Su Wen twitched inwardly.

'Is it really necessary to stare at me like that every time…?'

Then Young Master K spoke aloud, his voice gentle yet firm, carrying a calm masculine tone,

"No need. It's all useless."

"I already have what's important to me… always by my side."

After saying that, he turned forward again and continued walking.

Su Wen froze for a moment, then blushed. He didn't say anything and quietly followed behind her like a loyal subordinate.

Onlookers looked on with strange expressions, seeing a handsome young scholar say something to an old, weathered, scar-faced man… and watch him blush like a little girl.

Soon, they reached the City Lord's manor gates.

The gates were tall and heavy, made of dark stone and reinforced spirit wood, with simple yet dignified carvings that revealed authority rather than extravagance. Two armoured guards stood straight on each side, their expressions stern.

Su Wen stepped forward first and spoke dominantly,

"What are you staring at? This is Young Master K from the Central Continent. He is here to visit the City Lord and Young Master Lu."

Behind him, Young Master K as usual rested his hands behind his back and glanced at the guards casually, as if merely acknowledging their existence was already a great favour.

The guard at the gate, a mid-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, first looked at the scar-faced Su Wen, then at the otherworldly Young Master K.

The moment he sensed Young Master K's aura, his heart skipped a beat.

It was calm… deep… and unfathomable.

He did not dare to suspect a disguise and not dare to question the identity.

Even a single careless thought of doubt felt dangerous.

Without hesitation, he bowed deeply.

"Please come in, Young Master."

He personally opened the gates and respectfully led them into the manor, his posture humble and cautious. At the same time, another guard hurried away toward the inner courtyard, clearly going to report their arrival.

Soon, they were escorted into a spacious reception hall.

Young Master K calmly settled onto a soft jade sofa, crossing his legs lightly. His posture was relaxed yet carried a natural nobility, as if he had been born to sit in such a place. Every movement radiated authority without effort.

Su Wen stood silently behind him, hands clasped behind his back, head slightly lowered. His scarred face looked cold and unapproachable, giving off the unmistakable aura of someone who would strike without hesitation if anyone dared to offend his young master.

Yet inwardly, he was stunned. 'Is she… really still my wife…?'

Servants quickly brought tea and spirit fruits, placing them carefully on the table before Young Master K, then retreated with deep bows, leaving the hall in an uneasy silence.

Young Master K picked up a spirit grape, rolling it between his fingers for a moment before placing it deliberately in his mouth. The sweet, refreshing flavour lingered on his tongue, the subtle vitality of the fruit spreading through him. He closed his eyes briefly, savouring it, as if even such a simple act held a quiet luxury.

Using Soul Sense, Su Wen spoke quietly, "Wife… while we wait for the City Lord, shall I scan the mansion for any hidden threats?"

Young Master K paused, glancing back at him for a moment, before speaking aloud in his calm, unshakable voice.

"No Need. I'll do it."

Focusing his cultivation, he activated his Early-Stage Soul Sea and let his Soul Sense ripple through the mansion. It spread like a wave, probing every corner, every shadow, every hidden crevice. It swept through the gardens, the hallways, the guest chambers… and eventually reached the underground area.

There, he detected a hidden chamber, sealed and blocked by a powerful formation.

Though the formation was intricate and strong, it was nothing in the face of his power. Within seconds, he slipped through effortlessly, leaving the array undisturbed and undetected by anyone above.

As his Soul Sense penetrated the chamber, he saw something that made his blood boil and his entire body tense with fury.

All the guards and servants panicked instantly, dropping to the ground as they felt Young Master K's fury surge through the hall.

Su Wen sensed it at once and spoke aloud, "Young Master… calm down." He placed a hand on his shoulder and said gently, "Tell me what happened…"

Young Master K looked at Su Wen, then softly pressed a finger to his forehead.

In an instant, Su Wen saw everything as if through his own Soul Sense.

"Down in the underground chamber… there are more than twenty naked women. They…" Young Master K paused briefly. "The City Lord's son is in the middle of a formation, refining Yin Qi."

He continued in a low voice, "There are six cultivators… one Peak Golden Core, one Mid Golden Core, and four Peak Foundation Establishment."

Su Wen frowned as he observed the cultivators, but when his gaze shifted to the women lying on the ground, a wave of icy fury surged through his heart.

His breathing slowed, his body stiffened, and a chilling coldness spread within him. Slowly, the warmth in his eyes vanished, replaced by a deep, bottomless darkness that carried a cold, merciless intent.

Seeing that look in his eyes, Young Master K unconsciously took a step back. It was the first time Du Yue had seen Su Wen like this, and a chill crept into her heart, as though she were standing before a stranger she had never truly known.

Realising his emotions were slipping out of control, Su Wen quickly calmed himself and gently patted Young Master K's shoulder.

'Is this the dark side of this world…?' he wondered inwardly.

Although he acted as if nothing had happened, he failed to notice the subtle change in Young Master K's expression at that moment.

Su Wen spoke softly, "There are two Golden Core cultivators down there… I don't know how you managed to scan them without being noticed… but…"

Young Master K snapped out of his thoughts and interrupted him, his young master aura returning at once.

"Don't worry… I'll handle them both."

Su Wen said worriedly, "But… one of them is Peak Golden Core and…"

Young Master K gently placed a finger on Su Wen's lips, stopping him from speaking. His calm, steady eyes were enough to put Su Wen at ease.

Although it was a moment of trust between the couple, to the servants, the scene looked completely different. An elegant, handsome young master had gently placed his finger on a weathered, scar-faced man's lips, making the two of them appear as though they were quietly flirting in public.
