While facing the small bonfire in front of him, Wei Yan laid out his loot and counted his gain.

He sent his gaze around and found Xiao Mao was napping by the bonfire, curling her body into a fluff ball. Wei Yan smiled, he disliked disturbing her rest. He then poured the milk into a bowl, placing it beside her to let her drink on her own.
The sweet and irresistible aroma of the milk was hard to resist for a beast cub, her once flopped ears perked up, her nostril twitched a few times before finally laying her gaze onto the bowl of milk.
She got up on her feet, sniffing the content cautiously. After a few licks, Xiao Mao licked the bowl spotless, leaving no speck of milk and groomed her whiskers afterward. Although the Spirit Milk of Spectral Tree looked like just any regular milk yet it profoundly nourished her bones without negative side-effects.
"Xiao Mao, come closer." Wei Yan reached his hand with a Bone Marrow Pill on his palm.
The beast cub hissed at him, barred her fangs and claws. However, the temptation was irresistible for her big appetite and slowly crept closer.
Wei Yan smirked, he put the Beast Marrow Pill in the bowl so she could decide whether she wanted it or not. Unexpectedly, Xiao Mao picked the pill and her eyes rounded wide as the sweet fragrance permeated in her mouth.
The pill's effect was so gentle on her whole body. She went back to sleep by the bonfire, absorbing the Beast Marrow Pill's essence while resting.
"Silly cat…" Wei Yan muttered, stroking her soft, lustrous fur. Xiao Mao was surprisingly very docile when asleep, she even purred soundly.
Afterward, he deployed the Turtle Dome Formation Array and had his first sleep after months of journey.
In his sleep, Wei Yan dreamt about Immortal Sage once again. Everything was so bright and serene, it was the day when he regained his consciousness after being refined for one million years, floating amidst the boundless dimension.

"Meow!" The beast cub chuffed from atop the tree branch, grooming her paws and claws nonchalantly.
"Oh, there you are. Following your innate instinct, huh? Come down, it's time to leave." Wei Yan was relieved to see her in full energy despite the horror she had just been through.
He extended his hands upward, ready to catch her, but the beast cub refused to be pampered and leaped from one branch to another until she reached the ground. She was so aloof and indifferent just like any cat.
Wei Yan ignored her antics in his mind and walked towards Tianchan Town, the nearest human settlement to the north.
Even though Xiao Mao disliked being touched, she still followed two steps behind while occasionally chasing anything that piqued her interest like small lizards or butterflies as her innate instinct as apex predators was still very strong.
It was quite a handful to babysit the little one, but he was very patient and stopped whenever she needed to take a power nap. All he could do was wait until she woke up and asked for a bowl of Spirit Milk.
Three days into their journey, the weather was getting colder during the night as they continued further and eventually entered the territory of Northern Wei Dynasty, a mortal kingdom which was now currently under control of Teng Clan of Zhao Empire.
Around two weeks later, the two finally arrived at Tiangchun Township. Much to his surprise, the town was bustling with many people. Traveling merchants erected their tents on the roadside. Travelers, mortal warriors and even cultivator alikes from the neighboring regions fiercely bargaining the items they need.
Wei Yan asked to himself, "What happened here? This town is supposed to be a quiet countryside of Northern Wei Dynasty."
His question soon answered itself when he walked toward the crowd in front of a huge notice board.

"Yes, but the sect's Young Mistress, Lady Wang Yue survived the horrifying night. But alas, by the time she emerged from her cultivation cave, half of the sect's disciples were already massacred by the demon beast."
