Chapter 7 - Class Selection

The goddess waived her hand an a large blue screen with white text manifested before me.

Was that.. Magic? All those little light particles came together then created that screen. Incredible.

So I have one class already chosen for me, Demon Knight, I guess that makes sense after I was changed into a demon. The question is... what else do I pick?

I looked to the goddess and asked,

"How can anyone have so many classes? Is there anymore information you can give me about them? Is this all the class options?"

The goddess was unprepared for the volley of questions and pondered for a moment.

"I can't tell you everything you wish, but I will answer some of your questions. There are nearly an infinite amount of classes, so no theses are not all the class options. Each summoned hero is given the same normal classes options The difference is the rare and ultra rare classes, those are specific to the individual."

I looked to her with interest,

"If I can have more than one class, can I get more of them when I get to Avalon?"

The goddess shook her head no,

"Now on to your other question, classes as you can see are in tiers and your highest rarity class will be your primary. After that, any rare and normal classes you posses will be considered sub classes. As for how those differ, you will have to explore yourself. I cannot not give you any details on the classes"

I gave her a slight glare and then nodded contently and looked back to options before me,

While the way she said it annoys me, she didn't have to answer anything in the first place. Looks like it's on me from here on out. I got really lucky and got an ultra rare character class and two options for rare classes. It's weird that I can't chose any of the normal classes though... I going to go with...

I walked forward and pressed my hands on my choices.

- Blademaster

It's official, I selected the Beastmaster and elemental mage. If the Beastmaster class is anything like its name then I will be able to have a companion in the future. The dark elemental mage is necessary as well, in a world of magic how can I not be one who uses it... I may prefer swords but I'm a demon now, the goddess said I had something called hellfire. I'm interested to see if my elemental mage class can allow me to use it in a myriad of ways. The other classes are tempting... but I'm already a demon knight, I really don't need another melee sub class. Druid is definitely out, I'm not some forest hippy that wants to be "one with the trees mannn""

What am I even saying? My teacher just died before me.... I can't treat this just like a game. Am I psycho? It don't even feel affected by my teachers death.. nor does this situation really bother me. Isn't this what I've always wanted? This all just feels so unreal, as if in moments I will wake up in my bed with my cat sleeping on top of me.

*Sigh*

I know it's not a game, and I need to take it seriously. But I can't deny that right now it's kind of fun choosing your class and creating a character like this.

She looked at me and placed her hand on my shoulder,

"Are you sure? You cannot change this after this point."

The goddess took the scroll and tossed it into a blue flamed goblet.

"These choices are locked in. Waiting on three more to finish their decisions."

Curious, I asked,

"Can you tell me about what they're choosing?"

The goddess declined,

"I cannot, strictly confidential. You may have other ways of figuring it out though. What I can tell you is that out of all 35 summoned hero's, there are eight ultra rare classes. Now that you have selected, all the choices are now locked in. Ill give you a piece of information, no other candidate was able to see the ultra rare class demon knight. Only you because... "

After a small pause she coughed and continued,

"Because you're the contract holder!.. Yes because of that... A piece of advice, don't show all your cards. Demons aren't the most accepted creatures out there... Assume others may have secrets of their own, they could have classes they're not disclosing. Abilities they may be hiding."

It's almost as if she's trying to help me.

I asked,

"Are there many classes that are better than the Demon Knight?"

The goddess smiled and before she could answer something seemed to startle her. She looked at me and winced before coming closer.

The goddess grabbed my arm as I was about to be teleported. In a shaky voice she said,

"Yuki…Stay strong no matter what happens."

I was then engulfed by a large pillar of blue, I was transported again to a different goddess. This one had long green hair, a fair complexion, and a rack that you could get lost in.

She walked forward and threw a scroll into the air. It expanded and an animated text appeared in front of me. It showed pictures, and boxes to check.

I looked her in the eyes and immediately my vision went dark.

The goddess was distraught,

"How dare you look upon me in such a way, kneel!"

An oppressing gravity like aura forced me to the ground and my head slammed into the white cobblestone.

What is this power!

After a few minutes my eyesight returned and the force lessened. I looked at the white cobblestone floor which was now covered in... purple blood?

What the...

The goddess didn't give me anytime to process,

"Now that you've been punished, get up you worthless beast. Now.... Just like choosing your class, you will now choose your starting skills. Let me explain a bit further. Skills, also called abilities, in this world are ranked from a F- to S+ system. FDCBAS F being the lowest level skill with S+ being the most unique. These skills can be common to extremely rare. Look"

She pointed to the scroll which now showed the odds of getting said skill.

1 in 100 million = S+ Rank Skill

1 in 10 Million = S rank skill

1 in 500,000 = A rank

1 in 250,000 = B rank

1 in 50,000 = C rank

1 in 1 = D rank

1 in 100,000 = F rank

She continued,

"Everyone is born with at least one innate D level skill, possibly many. Due to you being summoned here and your contracted demon rank being so high you received a bonus of the following skills."

1 ->3 S+ Rank Skill

1->2 S rank skill

2 A Rank Skill

1 B/C Rank Skill

2 D Rank Skill

It seems I will have to treat her like a king to get any answers...

I lowered my gaze, gave a slight bow and clasped my hands together ahead of me. I then asked,

"Goddess, are these all the skills all I can use in this world or can I get more when I get to Avalon?"

The corners of her mouth curved upwards and she let out a giggle,

She's looking at me like a trained dog, damn goddess.. I'll make you pay one day for making me kneel like that.

She replied at length, appreciating the way I asked for information and the reverence I showed her while asking.

"Since you have learned your place, I will answer you just this once. Innate skills are different from normal skills. Innate skills are the ones you're born with. Acquired skills can be learned. Most S-S+ level skills are innate, and the rest can be acquired. Some even adjust your physical traits making you into a monster. A majority of skills ranked A and below can be learned, taught by mentors who already possess them, or from rare tomes and treasures found deep within dungeons. As you level up you will see your body grow in strength and ability alike. Like classes, you will have some unique ability options, and some will be commonly offered to everyone. Now let us see what your ability options are..."

She threw out a scroll ahead of me, not using magic like the other goddess, and a list of incredible choices appeared before me.

After seeing the options before me there was only one word that could summarize my thoughts.

Incredible....
