The High Magus ushered the next person to come and test their abilities.
Next was Dante, he placed his hand on the book and Archanon revealed his class and abilities.
"Class: Barbarian. Rank A Skill Two-Handed Blademaster. Rank A Skill Berzerk.
Dante laughed,
"See, I told you I was descended from a viking. This was already chosen for me when I came here."
Next, Emelia was up, she placed her hand and they began to read.
"Class: Valkyrie, Rank A Skill - Wind Affinity. Rank A Skill - Veteran Blademaster."
Emelia smirked,
"Yes! get me a large sword and watch me send those demons back to where they came from! Hahaha".
Up next was Kayaba, reluctantly he put his hand on the book. The head magus began to read,
"Class: Assassin, Rank A Skill - Shadow Step, Rank A Skill - Mist Affinity (Subclass of Water Affinity)."
Kayaba yanked his hand away,
"Great, you want to know my blood type too? I still don't get why we need to tell you guys our abilities."
It was now my turn. I walked forward to the book. This is bad, if somehow they see through my concealment ability I'm screwed.
I placed my hand on the book and the clergyman stepped away with the book.
"Well Yuki, I'm assuming you have concealment Rank S. Would you please tell us what your class and abilities are so we can help you get stronger?" Archanon said as he forced a smile.
I have to find a way to explain this without them figuring out what I am.
Don't tell them you have flame affinity, they will know you're a demon when they see the purple flames.
In a nervous voice I responded,
"Well, my class is Beastmaster, I have the Rank S Concealment ability. It was automatically chosen for me. I have the Rank S Skill - Dark Affinity...etc"
Archanon responded,
"Wonderful, the Dark affinity is extremely rare. We have one master of this affinity that can teach you what it's capable of. I must ask, those are some unique eyes you have. Family trait?"
What.. what do I say..
In confusion I responded,
"Yeah.. family trait. On my fathers side."
Archanon motioned for us to continue. Koji stepped forward and placed his hand on the book. Archanon began to read,
"Class Sage: Rank A Skill - Scholar, Rank B Skill - Second Generation Magus, Rank B Skill - Earth Affinity. We have a wonderful master of golems that you need to meet."
Hinabi was up, she placed her hand on the book and it revealed her information. Archanon explained,
"Class: Sage. Rank A Skill: Fire affinity. Rank A Skill: Water Affinity." Hinabi said, "Thankfully I can leave the sword swinging to you gents."
Finally it was Akiras turn, Akira stepped forward and placed his hand on the book. Archanon stepped back in shock.
"You're the…. The… The one who was foretold. Once in every ten thousand years there is one summoned or born in this world as the hero. Class: Hero, Rank S Skill - White Magic Affinity, Rank A Skill - Veteran Blademaster. Rank A Skill, Demon Purification. This is wonderful."
He motioned for his clergyman to go to Akira.
Archanon explained,
"Now that we know your abilities we will begin your training. First you need to be outfitted in gear, you cannot use the clothes you arrived in for combat so allow us to provide you with some equipment."
We were taken to the castle blacksmith where all the town's armor and weapon merchants had set up stalls of gear and equipment. From heavy plate armors, to light leather armor. There were weapons of all varieties, as we walked around the stalls we were able to see the stats of the weapons and gear. Everyone seemed to gravitate to different stalls.
I came to the dark elves' section and found various sets of dark hooded armor. Black armor with a dark red hood and shawl. I decided on medium armor as I didn't want to limit my mobility. The next thing to find was what weapon I would use. When I trained in Tae Kwon Do we focused mostly on the Katana and Kamas. I'd like to find a sword or a pair of them and go from there.
The Dark Elf blacksmith walked to me.
Weird his eyes seem luminescent.
He explained,
"Young hero, you seem to know quality when you see it. You're the only one to come to my stall, I can see you have special eyes. Why don't we find you something special for a weapon? What is your style? Do you prefer spears? Maybe your interests are more dark and mysterious… Perhaps daggers would suit your needs."
I walked towards the swords on display. Large black bladed weapons, too large for what I'm looking for. I looked to the blacksmith and said,
"I need a sword, nothing too large like these ones here. A thin but sturdy blade."
The blacksmith started smiling ear to ear,
"Yes, we have something like this. A long blade but light. It's name is The Reaper. It's a two sided blade, the middle is lined with magical runes that allow you to imbue it with the elemental affinity you possess. If you have fire it becomes the dealer of hell itself, if you possess wind it will make even tornados bend to its will. I grabbed the blade and examined it. The sword had a special ability. The Items stats read as follows:
Item: The Reaper
Ability: Sanguine Thirst, Whenever the player kills something the sword gets sharper and does more damage. When the blade turns completely red it is at its deadliest."
This is the one, I should be able to work with this effectively.
We all were fitted with our armor and weapons. Now that we had our weapons we all met back up in the arena to test out our abilities. For each element the magus tower had a master and their disciples. All except one of the elements, the dark elemental affinity. The only one at the tower that was able to use this was a High Magus named Luther.
That was the guy eying me at the feast… He was a bit eccentric to say the least.
Luther walked forward and greeted me,
"Hello Yuki! I'm soooooooo excited to meet you."
Luther began walking all around me, as if he's a beast sizing up its prey.
He lifted his hand, creating what looked like black smoke all around me, suddenly, I was thrust into the wall forcefully.
Luther yelled,
"The sky's the limit with this affinity. From blood magic, to demonic magic the applications of the dark elemental affinity is endless. The emerald kingdom has a heretical cult known as the Undead Acolytes that specialize in dark magic for the purpose of necromancy. Attempting to throw the world into despair by releasing the undead."
Getting back to my feet I clutched my bleeding head wondering,
"Why would they do that?"
Luther laughed,
"Sometimes children the only way to fix what is wrong with the world is to destroy it completely and rebuild. As a new wielder of magical abilities you must learn how to manipulate them. This process can apply to any elemental affinity you have. Visualize what you want to do in your mind, let's start small."
Luther looked at me with anticipation,
"You there, with the dark affinity, visualize a cloud of dark energy. You should be able to feel the darkness within your soul. Though It's different for everyone."
