The soft kiss between Lucian and Rowan was instantly shattered by a fierce flash of lightning. Lucian jumped back, his eyes wide.
"Oh, Rowan! I guess it's going to rain, and I think it's already midnight! We have to go!" Lucian urged, worry instantly replacing desire.
"Hey, calm down," Rowan said confidently, pulling his helmet on. "I can ride very fast, and the tension will relieve itself. Hop on!"
They sped back toward the resort. By the time they arrived, the sky had broken. Rain hammered down, turning into a heavy, brutal storm. Rowan parked the bike and immediately shielded Lucian, holding him close as they ran for the entrance.
The thunder was deafening, the lightning illuminating the night in white flashes.
As they neared the shelter, Lucian's eyes blurred by the rain, he saw a figure huddled at the entrance. Rowan shouted the name: "KAI!"
A sudden, deafening clap of thunder seemed to strike all three of them. Lucian's heart stopped.
"Rowan, go back to your room!" Lucian ordered, his voice cracking with urgency.
"But—" Rowan tried to argue, desperate to stay.
"If you don't respect my words now, then I'm not going to see you anymore!" Lucian commanded, his voice shaking with absolute authority.
Rowan stared at Kai, then at Lucian, and reluctantly retreated toward the interior of the building, keeping watch.
Lucian grabbed Kai's hand, trying to pull him toward the shelter of the building. Halfway there, Kai violently yanked his hand away, turning to face Lucian in the torrent.
"Is that because of Rowan?" Lucian whispered, his voice ravaged. "I know how you feels now, but I do have feelings—"
Before lucian could complete his statement of confession, Kai staggered. Even in the heavy rain, Lucian saw it: Blood began to stream from Kai's nose, mixing instantly with the rainwater.
Lucian gasped, horrified, and rushed to grab him in a fierce, protective hug. "KAI! —"
Kai gently pushed him away. "Don't touch me!" he whispered, his eyes filled with self-loathing.
"I know I'm the wrong one! I know I'm stupid! I know I'm hurting you! And you've been hurt so bad because of my behavior! I still remember six months ago, even though I did something bad to you, you still cared about me! You still tried to protect me! You don't deserve a human like me with you! Please go away! Please live your life happily!" Kai confessed, pouring out his emotional torment.
"Kai! Kai! Don't tell me you—you're actually my—" Lucian tried to finally admit the truth of his devotion.
"NOOOO! Go away! GO AWAY!" Kai screamed his frustration and agony into the storm. Then, without warning, he collapsed, his hands and legs seizing up in painful cramps.
"Someone help me! Please! Anyone help me!" Lucian screamed, his voice hoarse with panic, trying desperately to lift Kai's rigid body.
Rowan, who had been watching from just inside the entrance, rushed back out into the pouring rain. The commotion instantly drew Aerin, Lele, and others. Sima, despite her anger, charged out to assess the crisis.
Rowan didn't hesitate; he scooped Kai up into his arms, ignoring the blood and rain.
"Sima, is anyone's car here?" Lucian shouted.
"Yes, but I guess you don't need a car. The rural hospital is nearby, and a doctor is here—" Sima started.
"No! I have to go back! Everyone, please don't ask any questions! Don't worry about the money—I'm going to pay! Please get a taxi or anything!" Lucian commanded, his voice sharp with authority.
Sima and Rohav rushed to find a taxi. Rowan, Aerin, and the others helped stabilize Kai. Lucian sprinted to Kai's room and found the hidden medicine. Seeing the unused stash, his dread deepened: He didn't take his medicine for a long time!
He rushed out and called Dr. Sebastian.
"Dr.! Dr.! Sebastian, there's no time to explain! Tomorrow morning itself, we'll be there! Make an appointment, because Kai is bleeding from his nose!"
The doctor, ever professional, responded calmly: "lucian, just give him those tablets now. It will help him for now until you're here. I'm going to examine him as soon as you arrive. Come as soon as possible.
"Lucian rushed back. Rowan was still holding Kai. "Kai, little bit, can you hear me? Please hear me. I'm Lucian. Take this tablet first." Lucian gently administered the pills.
Sima and Rohav arrived with a taxi. Rowan, without needing any instruction, carried Kai back inside and placed him in the car. Lucian, Rowan, and Kai immediately sped back toward the city.
.It was morning when they reached the city hospital. After a long examination, Dr. Sebastian returned to the waiting room, where Lucian and Rowan rushed toward him."He's in a crucial, critical condition. It's out of our hands now," Dr. Sebastian stated gravely.
"What are you telling us, Doctor? No, no, no! Nothing is going to happen to Kai! You said CPTD was curable if his consciousness was stable, but what are you saying now?" Lucian cried, tears streaming down his face.
"Lucian, calm down, this is a hospital," Rowan urged, shocked and confused.
"See, Lucian, I know how worried you are now, but this is the truth. His CPTD started in his life when he was a kid because of his mother's death. You helped me hold him and cure him at that time," the doctor explained. "I saw how much you tried to console him, tried to get away from his frustration. Even when he was frustrated, he would try to harm someone who was always close to him. So you got harmed by him several times just to control him." Dr. Said.
"But at that time, you never said it was this serious!" Lucian challenged.
"Yes, of course, because last time, his frustration was full of anger. But right now... he knows he is the wrong one, so he decided to harm himself." Doctor said.
"What are you telling me, Doctor?" Lucian whispered, horrified.
"Yes. This time, his whole mind went from frustration to broken. He is in deep pain, almost extreme depression, plus this CPTD. He is in danger. If this continues, two things will definitely happen: One, he's going to lose his life. Or two, he's going to lose his mind and become completely mentally ill."
