In the Imperial Palace on Terra,
Napoleon followed Reinhard's footsteps deeper inside and was immediately captivated by the unique interior design. Consistent with the minimalist Bauhaus style of the exterior, every design element inside perfectly blended functionality with modern aesthetics.
Upon entering the main gate, a spacious and bright hall immediately came into view. The floor was paved with dark gray polished stone, contrasting sharply with the plain white three-dimensional geometric textures on the walls. In the center of the hall stood a Vitruvian Man sculpture, formed by simple lines, symbolizing humanity.
Frameless electronic displays were embedded in the surrounding walls, showing real-time warzone maps, troop movements, and the progress of various departmental tasks. Linear light fixtures on the walls cast a soft white glow, illuminating the entire hall as if it were daytime, while avoiding excessive shadowed areas.
Suspended above the hall was an industrial-aesthetic metal chandelier, its design resembling a mechanized star. Its circular structure was embedded with hundreds of miniature LED light sources, symbolizing the infinite expansion of the universe.
Further inside, the office area exuded a futuristic technological ambiance. The open-plan design allowed for rapid communication among all staff, with glass partitions replacing traditional solid walls, offering an unobstructed visual flow.
Each desk was embedded with an all-in-one computer, and employees busily yet orderly operated mice and keyboards.
A civilian official was adjusting the fleet deployment plan. A holographic screen in his hand displayed a fleet model, with the specific tasks and status of each warship annotated beside it.
"Logistical supplies for the Fifteenth War Zone are temporarily insufficient. Please contact the Adeptus Mechanicus to prioritize the provision of multi-functional repair vessels." His voice was clear and firm, transmitting to projectors on other workstations, instantly forming a chain of commands.
Automated archive storage cabinets, equipped with an intelligent retrieval system, were set up along the wall. Napoleon watched as a staff member, using voice commands, retrieved combat data for the entire Cadia Sector within seconds and transmitted it to the command center for high-level decision-making.
As Reinhard led Napoleon deeper into the Prince's Hall, the Core Area of operational readiness was revealed.
This was a massive yet orderly control room. At its center was a tactical sandbox covering the entire galaxy, with a holographic projection of the star map rotating in mid-air, marking every engagement zone between the Imperium and Chaos Forces.
Technical personnel around the control consoles were fully analyzing Warp jump data, attempting to plan a safe advance route for the main forces.
The Emperor's son, Rogal Dorn, stood beside the sandbox, using a laser pointer to circle target areas. "This is a potential ambush point for the Chaos Fleet. Reconnaissance vessels must be dispatched to confirm the situation... More bunkers and planetary orbital defense platforms must be built in this location."
On a screen wall to one side, real-time footage from the Cadia battlefield played, showing ships pouring into the Star Sector like a tide, with the Imperial Fleet's defenses being breached layer by layer. Staff members nervously exchanged data, trying to buy time for the impending operation.
After passing through several corridors, Napoleon finally arrived at an office that was somewhat understated yet highly designed. The decor here was even more refined than the exterior, with minimalist lines outlining a rational aesthetic.
Through the transparent glass walls, one could see that the office contained a large kitchen island with an induction cooker and a coffee machine, as well as a wine cabinet wall.
The desk was a huge solid wood desk, devoid of any superfluous decoration, with only an ultra-thin laptop and a steaming cup of tea. Outside the window was a vast view of Terra City, with huge Gothic buildings and bustling crowds visible.
At this moment, Li Feng was examining a massive projection with a group of Adeptus Mechanicus Oil Men, which displayed countless different types of armored vehicle structures and STCs.
As they entered, Napoleon pulled Reinhard aside: "Help me check my clothes, are they tidy?"
"Everything's fine," Reinhard said, straightening Napoleon's collar and adjusting his hat.
As the door opened, Reinhard immediately reported: "Your Excellency, Artillery Colonel Napoleon has arrived."
Li Feng turned around, his gaze shifting from the holographic projection on the table to Napoleon, who had just entered, a slight smile on his face. The Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priests beside him cast a brief scrutinizing glance at Napoleon before refocusing their attention on the design proposals in the projection.
"Napoleon," Li Feng's voice was deep yet powerful, "You've come at just the right time!"
Napoleon immediately stood upright, removed his hat, and rendered a standard military salute to Li Feng: "Your Excellency, I am at your command."
Li Feng nodded slightly, signaling Napoleon to relax. He walked to the table, picked up the small teacup, took a sip of Pu'er tea, and then returned the cup to its original position with swift and elegant movements. He pointed to the Toulon Star warzone map displayed on the holographic projection, a hint of gravity in his tone.
"Toulon Star, located on the edge of the Cadia Sector, is a critical passage for the entire Imperial Fleet to enter the Star Sector. The current war situation indicates that Chaos Forces are using it as their next breakthrough point. They are attempting to cut off our route into Cadia and blockade the entire Star Sector."
Li Feng paused, his gaze deep, "We absolutely cannot let this happen."
The projected image began to zoom in, showing a full view of Toulon Star. The planet's surface was dotted with bright red markers, indicating the key areas currently under engagement. The wreckage of Chaos ships and the Plague Fleet intertwined with Imperial defense lines, a scene of utter chaos.
"The current defensive forces on Toulon Star are severely insufficient, but the local Cadian Forces, Astartes, and planetary defense forces have still compressed them into the Starport. And our main forces still need time to mobilize. I need a reliable person to help us manage all of this."
Li Feng looked at Napoleon, his tone full of trust: "Therefore, I have chosen you."
At this moment, Napoleon looked at the Eye of Terror and the Cadia Sector, which were in utter chaos on the projection, and he couldn't understand why such an important mission would be entrusted to him, an artillery officer. Compared to him, Reinhard, Siegfried, and Yang Weili were all better choices.
"Your Excellency, may I ask a question?"
"Speak."
"Why me?"
Li Feng smiled at Napoleon's question, then walked to his desk, took a gift box from underneath, and approached Napoleon, opening it.
Inside lay an exquisitely crafted power cavalry saber, with wheat ears and pure gold carvings, indicating that this weapon was more a symbol of a Commander's status than for actual combat.
"Napoleon, I wonder if you've ever heard the saying: Some people are born for greatness."
Hearing Li Feng's words, Napoleon was slightly stunned, then reached out and took the cavalry saber from the gift box, looking at Li Feng:
"I promise, I will bring you a victory."
...Napoleon followed Reinhard out of the office. At this moment, the back door of the office opened, and Sanguinius walked out. The Tech-Priests, upon seeing Sanguinius, immediately bowed and saluted:
"mother of intelligence..."
Indeed, if Li Feng represented the omnissiah, the creator of technology, who brought computers and programming code, then Sanguinius, as the author of "Python, Java, and C++: From Beginner to Giving Up," naturally became the "mother of intelligence."
Sanguinius ignored the Oil Men and instead walked over to Li Feng's desk, sat down, picked up Li Feng's cup, took a sip of tea, and then asked:
"Do you really believe that he is *that* Napoleon?"
Li Feng walked behind Sanguinius and began to massage his wife's shoulders:
"Let's gamble, there's nothing to lose."
