For the first time in a while, Izumi felt like he finally had a grasp on his situation.
His newly obtained Displacement Magic could now be used as a pseudo–space manipulation ability.During these past few days, he had even run several "experiments" on Asia—mostly involving swapping her position with the pillow in his room and forcibly teleporting her over from her own room.
As long as something was within his perception range, Izumi could exchange positions with it at will.
It was basically ROOM from a certain surgeon with a very suspicious fashion sense.
By swapping himself with a pebble at the edge of his perception, he could blink several meters in an instant. If the target was someone weaker than he was, he could even forcibly relocate them.
It was… undeniably convenient.
And the system wasn't giving him some starter-pack version either—it was the full version, the same type used by that alchemist who could forge Class Cards.
Then there was the Flight Magic.Made famous by that onii-sama from the Strategic Magician series, the one who always jungles without leashing. With this, Izumi could finally fly.
As for Magic Bullets, they were essentially Rin Tohsaka's signature spell. But with Izumi's overflowing mana reserves, he could fire them as a literal bullet hell barrage.
Though honestly, he preferred blowing people up with Noble Phantasms.
The last new ability was Einzbern-style Alchemy—a legitimately powerful craft.
It allowed him to create homunculi. Yes, including ones similar to Illya…the kind of tiny or big chibi-loli he could freely imagine.
But due to a lack of materials and severe ethical implications, Izumi tossed that idea aside immediately.
After all, this world didn't just merge High School DxD—it also included Strike the Blood.
And Strike the Blood had highly advanced human-manufacturing technology. This world had actually developed similar techniques decades ago before banning them.
Izumi's alchemy was functionally identical to those forbidden sciences.Using it would definitely cause major trouble.
If he really created a homunculus, every major Devil house and every True Ancestor would come knocking for a "friendly discussion about life goals."
He wasn't scared—just cautious.
After realizing he was still basically a small fry in the grand scheme of things, Izumi decided to lie low for now.
Finally, there was the Spear That Shines at the End—a weapon belonging to a certain heroic spear-maiden.
The weapon itself was great, but what Izumi truly wanted...was its owner.
The northern hemisphere really was deliciously blessed. He wanted her.
For three days straight, Izumi locked himself away studying his new abilities.
Once he'd finished his research, school resumed. He also noticed changes in his system interface.
His personal stats were more detailed, a spatial inventory had been added, and the offerings he received from sacrifices had decreased.
Scanning others now provided more precise information as well.
For example:
[Asia]Overall Rank: FRace: HumanSex: FemaleSacred Gear: Twilight HealingSkills: Dragon Affinity (Dormant) — Easily earns the favor of Dragons; Healing Light…
Izumi stared at the subtle changes. Nothing major—just slightly more detail.
Walking to school, he absentmindedly observed Asia while muttering to himself.
Noticing his gaze, Asia grew visibly uncomfortable.
"Um… Izumi-sama, you've been staring at me since morning," she said softly."Is something wrong?"
Izumi had been acting strange—randomly teleporting her, running mysterious tests, then insisting it was "just skill calibration."
Now he kept staring at her endlessly. It made her uneasy.
Had that secret technique corrupted him somehow?
Her Izumi-sama wasn't like this before!
"No, nothing," Izumi replied with a small shake of his head."Just thinking."
He cut off the topic and led her toward the school.
Students along the way shot curious glances at him.
Even though Rias had told the witnesses of Izumi's battle to keep quiet, rumors still spread. Now, walking to school felt like walking through a zoo exhibit.
It was…awkward.
He truly wasn't used to this kind of attention.
Once they entered the classroom, every head turned simultaneously.
Izumi sighed internally.
He went to his seat, and the moment he sat down, Katou Megumi lowered her book and said:
"So, Izumi-kun, how does it feel to be a celebrity? Being stared at by everyone must be pretty exciting, right?"
"…I'm excited your head," Izumi replied flatly."It's uncomfortable."
Then, smirking, he added:
"But you know, Megumi—it kinda feels like you're paying an awful lot of attention to me."
Megumi's head snapped away instantly.
"Don't be conceited. I'm not.""You're overthinking."
Even if she was, she would never admit it.
If she told him directly, Izumi would definitely get carried away—and probably do something weird to her.
So—for now—she would quietly observe him.
Izumi looked slightly confused.Really? She's not? Who would believe that?
But since she didn't want to say it, he didn't push further.
He opened his textbook and flipped through it.
That was when Koneko walked in.
She sat down, looked directly at him, and said:
"Train with me this afternoon."
Izumi blinked.
"…You sure?""Aren't you afraid I'll beat you until you cry?"
Koneko rolled her eyes.
"No magic. We're doing hand-to-hand combat."
She had thought about this for days.
She wanted to grow stronger.Rias and Akeno were both magic-oriented.Izumi, however, excelled in martial arts and swordsmanship.
He was the perfect sparring partner.
