Chapter 25 - Good To Be Home Again

Nolan surrendered, laying on the ground with his hands raised.

Pointing her sword at his face, Sylvia smiled. "Since you didn't put me in mine, I've put you in yours. So know your place well."

'Some lessons are harder to teach than others,' he thought to himself.

Sylvia drew back her weapon and walked closer to him, extending a hand to help him up. "You surprised me there. You're quite skilled, but slow."

Nolan stared at the hand for a second longer before holding onto it and she pulled him up. He walked past her to meet the others, holding his shoulder. "Same goes for you."

"Hah? Your pride is blinding you even after you lost. Tch," Sylvia frowned as she walked behind him.

As Nolan reached the bench, Cedric stood up and brought out a piece of cotton and a vial that held a light-blue liquid.

Pouring a small portion on the cotton, Nolan removed his hand from the wound and Cedric rubbed it there.

"That's enough, I think," Cedric muttered as he threw the cotton and closed the vial, returning it to his bag.

While Nolan stood there, he felt a sharp, tingling sensation on the wound as it slowly started to heal.

This was the effect of the Royal Clovers in the kingdom. Though it was this amazing, the processing took a lot of time, before it could be used without side effects.

Some side effects were: constant hunger, temporal paralysis on used body part, hyperactivity or emotional instability. But… those were for people whose immune system couldn't handle its effects fully.

It was just made general that everyone uses the processed product instead, to avoid things like that.

Nolan though, wasn't focused on the cut that was stitching itself on his shoulder. He was watching the retreating Elite Sebastian.

"The Oracle," Nolan muttered, as if tasting the name.

In this world, Sebastian had one of the most unique abilities Nolan ever knew. Though it wasn't overpowered, it was the greatest for a strategist.

Probability Foresight.

This ability let the man glimpse seconds into the future, formulating about 50 different possible outcomes of a single situation at a go.

Though, he could actually see beyond seconds—minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, even years. However, he was at an extremely high risk of losing his sanity based on how long he wants to see in, how long he stays in the vision and how many possibilities he can make out.

He was a man of few words and he was barely seen. His hair is tattered and covers his eyes because he can't control his ability when things are really clear to him. It becomes subconscious.

That's why he always let his sight to be blurry, yet he still saw better than a lot of people. No one has ever seen his eyes. The only ones who saw them died during the first Crimson Moon, except—according to rumors—Elite Loretta and the Guild Master.

Nolan only managed to get close to him during regression 719, which was his last time choosing the Cerulean Guardians path.

That's how he got to know this much.

Nolan had never seen the man fight, despite him being the Head of Trainings. The man always died, being caught up in a crossfire, saving people or getting attacked.

He was the most mysterious person Nolan ever knew.

"Alright, good to go," Liana said, slapping Nolan's healed shoulder.

Nolan turned to her with a glare and Liana sneered back.

"Hey,"

A new voice called out from behind Nolan. He turned to see Rum—the guy he got his fire ability from in the village.

"I've been wanting to talk to you, but I have not been chanced. Well, today's the day, right?" Rum gave a warm smile, extending his hand for a shake. "I thought you said you weren't interested?" he added.

"Change of plans," Nolan replied, shaking his hand.

[Ability Already In Library!]

Nolan stared at the message. He was right. He couldn't copy what he already had.

"And gee, you had a fire ability like me?" Rum chuckled.

"Surprise?" Nolan shrugged.

"Pfft, you're good with the sword as well. That's a win for you. I saw what you did," Rum praised. "You should try honing your sword skills alongside your fire ability. You would rank up faster. Unlike me, hehe,"

"Well, see you another time," he added, patting Nolan's shoulder and waving at the others. He gave a nod of recognition to both Liana and Cedric before leaving.

"He was at the village too, right?" Liana asked. "He looks familiar."

"That's Rum. You may not know him, because you hardly went around the village," Cedric replied her.

"My father's fault," Liana pouted.

"Alright," Sylvia clapped once, "we're done for today. Everyone go get some rest."

They all agreed and started preparing to leave. Alexander barely managed to get up, following them with wobbly legs.

Before they could leave, Ace Bren came with a announcement that everyone should report to the Atrium of Founders for another orientation from Elite Loretta.

They were informed that the dispatching would be tomorrow and not the day after. Team captains and overall leaders for the Clover City's patrol duty would be announced in the morning tomorrow.

With that, they were dismissed and told to get ready

… …

Night Time.

Somewhere in Cloveland...

At a cliff, a silhouette came from the shadows and five low-grade demon stepped back, before suddenly lunging at it.

The silhouette effortlessly dodged the first strike, bashed the head of two demons together, punched off the head of one, stabbed a pocket knife on the other's eye choked the last one, lifting it up.

The person walked to the the clifftop, the moonlight casting small light on his features. It was a man, with a wide grin and an unnatural yellow glint in his eyes.

"Good to be home again."
