Chapter 3 - Fight or Flight

"Wake up Okka you're going to be late for school." The sweet voice of mother woke me up from strange dream.

I was not tired today and it was the third day of the week. Father had already left for work in the local mines and Aunt Lisa was visiting today. Last time I heard she got a job in Pretoria, a formal and legal job which meant soon we would all be cleared. Father's illegal day's work is not enough to get our permeant and legal residence, so now it is up to my aunt. Before we all hoped it would be Sissy to get us out of the mud. "Okka you're talking to self again, go and bath." That was Sissy speaking while brushing her teeth.

After taking a bath outside I came in my underwear and immediately dished myself pouraige and added sugar to give it taste but in ten minutes time I had already been in my school uniform when Sissy came in to fix my time. "You did not come your hair." Her sweet voice and breath touched my ears. "You stopped writing poems." I countered. "That is none of your business, combing your hair is ours." Sissy said with a smile.

"There all done." She patted my shoulder, "now come your hair." She instructed.

"It's a new hairstyle, Jude does it too."

"Who is Jude?"

"My friend from school."

"So you're fine having to have the same style as your friend?"

"I don't mind why should I?"

"Take your bag and let me walk you to school" Sissy said and I chuckled knowing that I had won the conversation and made her gave up on convincing me to comb my hair. Like hell I was. "Come back early your aunt is coming to see you both today okay?!" Mother yelled behind the house outside prepping her laundry equipment. "We know" Sissy was the one respond as we left the house and marched down the street.

OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL GATE

Arriving at school she pulled my bag by the zip as I walked away and brought me into her arms. Her body was always warm and it always made me wonder because that's what everyone else's body was. I know this sounds crazy but I also know that I am not supposed to be alive and I also know that sometimes I have these dreams where they are not actually dreams but multiple realities my brain has way to escape to. Dreams don't allow you to be in control or aware of them as much as I do. So I know something's definitely up with me. "Come meet at the Park okay, I have to fetch something first then we will go home together." She let go of me, "Oh man why can't I wait for you at the station?" I complained, "the station is much closer."

"Wait for me at the Park." That was all she said to me without aswering my question and she also reminded me to behave.

AFTER SCHOOL: Scrapyard Flight.

"Okay Bro catch you at five?" My friend Jude fist pumped me before getting into his father's car. Jude was the richest kid at the school that no one understood the reason for him to be attending to a public school like the one I am in when he could have been attending schools like my sister's. United Kimberly High School."A school for all." Their slogan suggests yet I was rejected because Sissy was three months behind fee. A hefty amount that is but it's a great school for great kids and Jude is one of them. So I don't understand why he chose to come here either. I nodded and started marching up the street instead of down to the station.

I was sweating under my uniform by the time I had walked past three parks which I knew Sissy was not speaking about because Park was a Mall *find formal name* in the city where there is all these restaurants, fast foods and formal, clothing stores and digital equipments and games even two diverse cinema studios for people to go and watch and underneath the mall was a marine zoo. So basically this side of the CBD had most of everything a child or an adult could dream of.

I sat outside the building, waiting for Sissy who was taking hours to come when I spotted some rich punk teenagers across the streets. My pulse raised because I knew if they would spot me I would be as good as a chicken waiting to be slaughtered. They used to bully me in primary that is why I don't go to school in the city but outside. I forced to transfer outside the city to a countryside school. Panicking I got up and started tracing down but I made the mistake to look back and Walter spotted me, I do not know how he recognised me but he did because he was tue first one to start running after me across the street.

Running without control I went past a hospital, past some few stores, almost got hit by a car when crossing the street without second guessing and when I took I don't how many left's and rights I had taken but I took a left before a right and noticed the scrapyard was still open but I would be stopped by the guards. Adrenaline kicked in and I remembered a loop hole around the corner of it and that was where I went, running towards the hole I tossed my bag over the fence and somehow I blacked out and my body forced me into a slide on my back through the hole before David could get hold of my floating tie. He crashed against the fence and his friends, Walter, Tido and Frank slammed against him. On my feet with a stupid smile on my face I stared at them when I swear I saw Walter yank from the ground and over the twenty feet tall fence and fear had me by the throat as I left my bag on the floor and started running again for my life this time. Last time was supposed to be the last time I ever see them because they almost stabbed me with a pair of scissors. I only got lucky because of the teachers, who would stop them now?

But as I ran and took a right instead of a left terrified I met a dead end and that was it for me. Today was the die I would die.
