Baroness Virgo slapped Meri across the cheek. Meri calmly bowed her head, and Baroness Virgo huffed and barked at her.
"A slime?! What are you talking about?!"
Meri immediately realized she'd made a slip of the tongue. Having lived in the Legion of Wrath since birth, she didn't fully understand the fundamental disgust humans had toward monsters.
"...Please, just hear me out."
But crisis breeds opportunity. Meri's cheek stung, but she decided to take a strong stance instead.
"When I said 'slime daughter,' it was just an expression. I apologize for using such crude language without refining it for the Baroness."
At Meri's serious words, the Baroness's expression changed oddly.
"What kind of attitude is that?! You just said you did those acts with a, a monster...!"
"I'm not doing acts with a monster. I'm just using a slime. If I were to put it more delicately...you could call it a slime massage."
