Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Tutor Arrives

The Greyrat family moved into a temporary house in Buena village.

Although it was much smaller than the original Greyrat house, it had five or six rooms and was located at the entrance of Buena village.

Paul planned to build a house about the same size as before, but building a house required a lot of money.

Paul had been an adventurer for a long time and had some savings.

However, these savings were needed for many things and would eventually run out. Also, his salary as a knight lord was not very high, so he lacked enough income.

After thinking about it, Paul decided to postpone building a new house and live in the temporary house with his family while making plans.

Even though Paul's house-building plan was delayed, Zenith's tutor plan was not delayed at all.

Zenith was very serious about her children's education, so she immediately put up a notice in town to hire a magician as a tutor.

Paul naturally had a lot of complaints about this. He hadn't even spent the money on building a house, but Zenith was not at all stingy about the cost of a tutor.

To resolve these conflicts, the family held their first family meeting.

...

In the living room, which was smaller than the old house, Paul sat in the main seat, Zenith sat on the right, Shirou and Rudeus sat on the left, and Lilia stood to the side, silently lowering her head.

"I reject the plan to hire a tutor," Paul said immediately. "We don't have much money at home right now, and we need to save up our salary for a while to build a new house. How can we spend money on this kind of thing? And even if Rudeus has magical talent, didn't we agree that if it was a boy, we would teach him swordsmanship and let him become a swordsman like me!"

Boys would learn swordsmanship, and girls would learn magic.

They seemed to have made this agreement before the children were born.

"But Rudy was able to cast intermediate magic at only three years old! If he trains hard, he will definitely become an amazing magician!"

Zenith naturally would not easily give up her decision and immediately retorted.

"But we should keep our promises!"

"What do you mean we should keep our promises! You always break your promises too!"

"My affairs are not related to the current situation!"

"Who cares about you? Besides, Shirou is already learning swordsmanship from you, so there's no need to force Rudy to learn swordsmanship too! Do you think Shirou isn't our child!"

"That's a bit much! Even I treat Shirou like my own child..."

The couple began their usual argument, creating chaos in the room.

Seeing that the situation was getting worse, Shirou couldn't help but say, "Paul, Zenith, I think we should ask for Rudy's own opinion, right?"

Although most people would think that Rudeus was just a three-year-old child who couldn't possibly have any opinions of his own, Shirou knew that Rudeus was different and felt that he should make his own decision.

"That... that's true."

Paul and Zenith stopped arguing and agreed with this idea.

"Huh? Can I choose for myself?"

Rudeus didn't expect to have this option, and he was immediately hesitant.

If it were the old him, he would have chosen to learn magic without hesitation, as he loved magic more and had no interest in barbaric things like swordsmanship.

However, after the previous fire, Shirou's image had been deeply imprinted in his mind, and he also wanted to become a reliable swordsman like Shirou.

Suddenly, the overly difficult choice made Rudeus fall silent.

Shirou thought Rudeus would need some time to think.

But he didn't expect the boy to pause for a moment and then suddenly say, "I, I think I'll learn magic after all."

"Huh? You made a decision so quickly?"

Rudeus was also taken aback by everyone's confusion, and then he quietly said, "I don't know why, but I just feel like I should learn magic."

Hearing Rudeus's words, Paul and Zenith didn't pay much attention to it, thinking of it as a child's intuition.

Shirou, however, noticed that something was wrong with Rudeus.

He had been hesitant at first, but then suddenly decided to learn magic. His strange appearance seemed to be influenced by something.

However, Shirou didn't think Rudeus was cursed. After all, he had almost never left the house and had no opportunity to be cursed.

Maybe Rudeus just liked magic more...

Shirou shook his head and stopped the unnecessary thoughts.

...

After Rudeus made the decision to learn magic, Zenith immediately ran to town to recruit a magician as a tutor.

Everyone thought that this would take a while.

After all, Buena village was in the countryside, and it was basically impossible to find any reliable magicians. Even if they made a request to the Caster Guild and the Adventurers Guild, they didn't know if anyone would apply...

Even if they finally found someone who met the requirements, most magicians wouldn't be willing to come to the countryside to teach children magic.

However, to their surprise, Zenith found a tutor almost on the same day.

It was as if she was guided by some kind of fate.

The overwhelming coincidence made Shirou's eyelids twitch, but he didn't think there was anything wrong with it. After all, no one could say for sure about fate.

So, after finding a tutor, the family waited for their arrival early in the morning.

"What kind of person will they be?"

Rudeus looked quite excited. He seemed to be more concerned about the magician's appearance than their ability.

Shirou's mind instinctively recalled the Casters he had seen in his previous life, such as his father, Emiya Kiritsugu, and the Ainsworth family...

At the same time, Servant Emiya's memories contained more information about Casters, as Servant Emiya had even visited the Caster's headquarters, the Clock Tower, after becoming an adult.

Casters could look like anything. The Caster who was close to Servant Emiya, Tohsaka Rin, was even a girl of the same age as Shirou.

But that was in Shirou's world. Due to the inheritance of magic crests, even young people would immediately become excellent Casters as long as they inherited a magic crest.

This world didn't have magic crests, so any excellent and powerful magician was likely to be an adult, or even an old person.

"My name is Roxy. Nice to meet you."

However, when the magician arrived, Shirou was completely dumbfounded.

He was completely wrong in his prediction. The person who appeared was not an old man, but a very young girl who didn't look much older than Shirou.

She had long, water-blue hair that draped over her shoulders, and she wore a magician-style brown robe. She looked petite and well-proportioned.

Her snow-white skin hadn't been tanned by the sun, and her slightly narrowed eyes seemed sleepy. Her lips were tightly closed, giving her a cold look. She only had one leather bag and a staff that was taller than her.

This was a magician?

Were magicians in this world all so young?
