One moment the giant black wolf stood motionless, with his deep purple eyes locked on Aurora's face as though trying to confirm she was really standing there.
And the next, everything exploded.
There was no warning. No growl. No shift in expression. No movement Aurora's eyes could catch.
One second Asher stood several meters away. And the next, the massive black body launched forward with enough force to crack the stone beneath his paws.
Aurora's eyes widened.
"Asher-"
Her voice never finished leaving her throat.
The wolf crashed directly into Elixir. The impact echoed through the mountain like thunder. Elixir didn't move, didn't shift, didn't even bothered to cover himself. He just simply took the hit.
Aurora watched in stunned disbelief as the force sent both of them sliding backward. Stone cracked. Dust exploded upward. And for half a second she thought they would stop.
Instead, the ground disappeared beneath them. And just like that, both of them vanished over the edge.
