Three weeks remained before the official start of the rainy season, but nature had already begun sending warnings.
It had rained twice during the past week. But neither shower had lasted very long, and neither had caused any real problems. Even so, Aurora understood what everyone else overlooked. The air had become heavier. The mornings carried more moisture than before. The clouds gathered more frequently over the mountains before disappearing again. To the beastmen, they were simply ordinary changes in the weather. To Aurora, they were a countdown. Once the heavy rains truly arrived, harvesting anything growing in the open would become much more difficult. Wet crops spoiled faster, muddy ground slowed everyone down, and properly drying food became nearly impossible. She refused to lose valuable resources simply because they had waited too long.
After breakfast, Aurora stood before the gathered volunteers once again. "Today we are harvesting wheat."
