Aurora hadn't realized how quickly the days had disappeared until she stood at the entrance of one of the giant tree houses one misty morning and watched another brief shower pass through the forest.
The rain lasted barely ten minutes before the clouds drifted away once more, leaving glittering droplets hanging from every leaf. It had become a familiar routine now. Every day or two, the sky would darken, rain would fall just long enough to soak the ground, and then the sun would return as though nothing had happened.
To everyone else, it was simply rain. To Aurora, it was a countdown. The true rainy season was almost here. Soon these short showers would become hour-long downpours and then entire days of relentless rain. Fortunately, most of her work in the Squirrel Tribe was finally complete.
