Before Jhon and the survivors met, in the shop.

...

[Point of view - Jhon]

The first thing I felt when the essence sent me information about the world it had connected to was... pure terror. Absolute terror.

I was staring at the shop door with wide eyes, sitting back in my chair. The huge incandescent lamps hanging from the ceiling, the books accompanying my agitated breathing.

I just couldn't help it; what this implied was simply mind-blowing.

Zombies in a cosmologically high world like Marvel is the last thing anyone would want to hear; it's like giving a nuclear bomb to a baby so his parents give him the toy he treasures. Just one strong converted hero, just ONE, and everything is over.

The only good thing is that it's not the Marvel Zombies from the comics; that alone lowers the power ranks a few notches, allowing me to survive.

You're probably wondering, why the hell do you want to go into Marvel Zombies and not Wakfu?, and I'd say: because I damn well feel like it.

Though afterward I'd tell you the real reason, and it's simply... to become stronger. What if I manage to get the dimensional stalker to make a wish? Thor? Captain Marvel (if she hasn't been bitten)? America Chavez? It's immensely dangerous to do this, but if I do it right, the reward would be fruitful. Not just in power, but in pure experience.

My hand perfectly showed the emotion I felt. The hand that was currently stroking Elysra's scales was trembling.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "Okay, think carefully, analyze where the shop landed." I managed to control my emotions, both the fear and the desire for power. My mind focused and I opened my eyes.

Right then, gently, the information about where the shop had appeared came to my mind.

A smile escaped my lips. "Honestly, I'm starting to think that I really do have narrative strength…" The shop apparently settled in a forest, near a damn house. The house? The one with three female survivors: one who thinks that if Tony had been poor he wouldn't have achieved what he did, another who shoots arrows, and another who got powers from her aunt.

That's right, Riri, Kate, and Kamala.

That made things easier; I knew them, I'd earn their trust and get information about the overall situation. I'd have to modify my rules for granting wishes; while I could make them wish everything went back to normal, that would mean losing experience and becoming a focal point in the world of heroes and villains. Who wouldn't want a wish-granting genie for themselves?

"But first..." I whispered and stood up. Elysra in my arms looked at me with her beautiful golden eyes, confused as to why I got up. I lifted her until we were face to face and gently told her while looking into those golden eyes: "Your brother has to leave for a few months; do you think you could stay and take care of our home?"

Her head tilted to one side, confused by what I said. However, in less than 2 seconds, she seemed to understand because her eyes slowly filled with tears slowly as she looked about to cry.

"Shit", I panicked immediately. What the hell am I supposed to do so a dragoness who just hatched lets me go to another world? We barely know each other and she doesn't want to be separated from me.

Elysra already had two water droplets in her eyes, ready to fall like a waterfall.

In the end I couldn't come up with anything, so I went with the last resort that almost always works: be honest.

"Sigh, little princess, you can't go there, it's dangerous. Even though it hurts me to leave you, I don't want you to get hurt..." My last words came out a little hoarse without me realizing it; maybe loneliness isn't so good after all.

Elysra's tears disappeared as if by magic when she felt her brother was sad. If she could articulate words properly, she would ask why, but since she can't, she simply moved so I would let her go in the air and flapped her wings, crashing into my chest.

"B-bro-ther", said Elysra, almost unintelligibly, but I understood it instantly.

A feeling of pride settled in my heart, causing my smile to widen as I took her in my hands and lifted her again.

"HAHAHA, I knew you could talk more, Simbad." I shouted loudly; my voice echoed throughout the shop. Elysra didn't know who Simbad was, but she was already starting to hate him; why does her brother keep getting her name wrong? She wanted to bite him. (Poor lion)

But also angry because her stupid brother doesn't remember her name, she opened her mouth and blue fire with glowing orange began to emanate from her jaws.

My eyes widened, fearing for my beautiful black mane; my head can't shine yet, I'm not even 30! Though I don't think it's possible.

"Wai-", I didn't manage to finish when the dragoness launched her attack.

"ROARR"

Fwoosh

The fire was going to hit my handsome face, but I quickly created a Wakfu portal in front and the flames disappeared as if they never existed.

A portal appeared elsewhere in the shop and the small fire fell on a shelf, but like a random fart, it vanished without causing any damage.

After that she coughed a little, as if shooting fire at me gave her reflux. Her bright eyes looked at me with an "I didn't do it" face.

"Looks like I have to tame this little one before she grows up", with a vein popping on my forehead for almost losing my beautiful hair, I quickly sat in the chair and put her on my lap with her little scaly butt in the air; it was time to educate the traditional way. She was surprised and wriggled, but I didn't let her go. Raising my hand in the air, I looked at her carefully. "It's time you understand who the big brother is." Saying that, I gave her a spank on her rear scales.

Pah

"Don't hit brother"

Pah

After a few spanks (not too hard), Elysra nodded every time I said she shouldn't hit me, her eyes a little teary.

'Now comes the carrot, hehe', I thought maliciously. "Well, now that you know you have to respect big brother, every time you behave well, I'll give you this", I showed her a chocolate I made appear from the dimension; she looked at me nodding her little head, but without knowing what it was. So I brought it to her snout and she sniffed it. Her eyes widened so much they almost popped out. I let her go from my legs and she quickly moved to eat it. She chewed slowly for a few seconds and looked at me, asking for more.

I gave her a few more, but making her understand she could have many later. "I'll give you more if you behave until I return, how about that?"

She looked sad about my departure, so sighing I told her: "It'll be a few months; when I return we'll play all you want, I'll miss you a lot too..." I rubbed her little head; her eyes weren't as sad as before.

I'd love to take her, but she just hatched; who takes a baby to an apocalyptic world? Even if she's a dragon, she still needs time to grow; maybe those months will be enough.

The time difference between the dimension and the worlds I visit is 1-1, so 24 hours for her will be 1 hour for me.

I plan to visit her often.

"Alright, go to the forest; I'll do a few things before leaving, see you later", I told her, winking with a smile as I stood up for the fourth time. I put her on the floor and started walking toward the training room. She stayed watching my retreating figure, sitting on the floor. When she saw I was gone, a sinister smile appeared on her face. It was time to prepare her revenge.

She flapped her wings and settled into the chair I always use, then her face began to show effort, as if she were pushing something; after a few seconds, she lifted her little tail. Where her little scaly butt had been, there was now a transparent crystal, oval and somewhat strange in shape.

She looked side to side to see if I saw her, and since she didn't see me anywhere, she put a little hand to her face and began to laugh sinisterly again, then raised her wings and launched herself toward the forest of the dimension, her figure passing through the walls as if they were invisible.

She had pooped on the chair.

...

[Third person]

Without Jhon realizing someone had just defecated on his chair, he went to the training room, changing his clothes in the process. Now was not the time to kill himself physically like before, but in another way.

"According to the essence, my body can absorb and withstand any type of energy or power." He thought while adopting a lotus position and closing his eyes, sitting on a freshly created marble floor. He inhaled and exhaled slowly to relax his body and be in harmony.

No one else should be able to do it, but Jhon knows that if the talent and supposed unlimited potential in his body is real, this is just a step toward survival.

"Wakfu is the energy of life... and I possess it now." He reflected, remembering how he had copied Yugo's physiology. "If it's the energy that sustains life itself, then I can use it to anchor my own existence."

He opened his eyes and instead of the beautiful hazel he usually has, both eyes were completely filled with blue energy; the energy overflowed from them, as if the process he was doing internally required a huge amount of it. Countless amounts of energy were generated in the dimension and entered his body.

And he wasn't entirely wrong.

In Jhon's mind, specifically in his subconscious.

An illusory form of himself was floating in a gigantic space filled with stars everywhere, his black hair waving in the void while his eyes observed each and every one of them.

"My soul." He whispered, recognizing what it was. Each star represented a fragment of his being, his very essence scattered in that vast inner space.

"Let's continue then." He closed his eyes and a brilliant blue energy began to enter the space; Wakfu flowed like rivers of liquid light. Wherever the energy touched, each star lit up more and more, vibrating with renewed vitality.

"Wakfu sustains life... so it can sustain my soul too. But scattered like this, it's vulnerable. I need to concentrate it, compress it into something denser."

Jhon raised his hands and made a circle with them, then slowly began to compress them. The stars of his soul started moving, attracted toward the center as if an invisible gravity pulled them.

"URGG", Jhon groaned in the training room; the blue energy in his eyes grew stronger. Blood came out of them, but his body was healed by that same energy that caused it, an endless cycle of damage and regeneration.

In his subconscious, the stars collided with each other, fusing, condensing. Wakfu acted as vital glue, weaving every fragment of his soul into a more compact and dense structure.

"A source... like a core that contains my entire existence." Jhon thought as if saying a mantra; his state of serenity and concentration was something that had never happened to him before. Memories of an anime he once watched came to mind, about a guy who had eyes that could destroy concepts.

Taking the concept of soul from that world, he already had a clear idea of what he wanted.

He squeezed his illusory hands harder. "If I compress my soul enough and seal it with Wakfu, the energy of life itself will protect it, keep it cohesive even if my body is destroyed."

The stars were no longer thousands scattered; now they were hundreds, then dozens, converging toward a bright central point.

But something was still missing.

"It's not enough to just compress it. I need to anchor it to something stable, something that persists no matter what." His thoughts turned to his dimension; the essence gave it to him, but in the short time he had been here, he had felt it was just control, that he wasn't its owner by right; if he were, Jhon knows he would become a dimensional lord, and that would entail almost unlimited energy. But according to the information from the essence, if he leaves here, he wouldn't be able to produce the same unlimited energy he does here; what kind of owner is stripped of so many possibilities? So taking advantage of the fact the essence never told him he couldn't bind his soul to the chosen dimension, he planned this.

This was a space chosen to serve his will, so he had to squeeze every last drop of what that entailed. "If I anchor my soul source to the dimension itself, then as long as the dimension exists, I'll be able to return."

With one last mental effort, Jhon visualized threads of Wakfu extending from the forming source toward the very "walls" of his subconscious space, connecting with the fundamental structure of his dimension.

"AHHH!" He shouted in reality with clenched teeth, blood flowing not only from his eyes but also from his nose. The pain was atrocious, as if every cell in his body was being rewritten.

In his subconscious, the last star fused with the bright center.

And then... silence.

BOOM

A Wakfu shockwave spread throughout the training space, slightly shaking the place.

Where there had once been thousands of scattered stars, now floated a single condensed blue light sphere, gently pulsing like a heart. Almost invisible threads of energy connected it to the surrounding space, keeping it anchored.

A source. The source of his soul.

Jhon slowly opened his eyes in the training room; the blue of the Wakfu gradually faded until revealing his natural hazel. He was breathing deeply and agitatedly, yet then came the purest excitement he had ever felt.

He slowly stood from the floor, looked up and raised his hands.

His face still had the blood from his actions, but he didn't care.

"HAHAHAHAHA, I'm a damn cheater!"

THURMM

His laughter echoed throughout the dimension; thunder appeared, responding to his emotions.

He could feel it. That subtle but undeniable connection between his compressed soul and his dimension. He felt... free, like having a million dollars in hand while walking through the most dangerous neighborhoods. You could leave, but in those neighborhoods you have the chance to multiply your money x1000. So you get a gun and a bulletproof vest; that's the current situation.

He knew it didn't give him more power, didn't make him physically stronger, but he instinctively knew that if he died, if his body was completely destroyed, his soul would return to that source in his dimension and eventually manifest again.

It wasn't invincibility. Dying would still hurt, would still be a terrible experience. But it would no longer be permanent.

Unless, of course, someone destroyed the dimension itself or denied the concept of his existence. But that would require power far beyond conventional.

"Soul immortality..." He murmured, wiping the dried blood from his face, his smile still present. "Not bad for a first step."

Suddenly his vision began to blur, his body started feeling a little weak. "W-wha...", he didn't finish the sentence. He went straight to the floor.

Boom

He fell like a log, his face hitting the marble floor.

...

Elysra, who was playing with some earth dolls Jhon had created to distract her, was completely ignoring all that disturbance from Jhon; the little one was already developing immunity to his madness.

Feeling that Jhon had lost consciousness, she flying-kicked an earth doll and it collapsed. Shaking slightly to get the dirt off, she strongly flapped her wings and took off toward him.

Her body passed through the Castle of Desire to reach the training room, where Jhon lay passed out.

She stopped flying and landed, starting to walk slowly. When she was close to Jhon, she kicked his leg, testing if it was a bad joke. Seeing nothing happened, she approached and put her head near his.

Feeling what was wrong with Jhon, she calmed down. Apparently his body couldn't handle all the energy he injected and passed out; right now he was slowly recovering. If Jhon had kept injecting more energy into his body, instead of passing out, what would have happened is his body would have imploded from the inside out, taking Elysra with him.

Elysra, feeling he was just sleeping, put her paw in her mouth, thinking. Then, a sinister smile began to form on her face, planning something.

She went to Jhon's back and sat there, made a constipated face and when she stood up from his body, an oval crystal was there. Her revenge continued.

Nervously checking if he was asleep or not, she relaxed knowing he still didn't respond. So knowing her revenge was going well, she quickly flew toward the forest, laughing along the way.

-------------------

Hello, readers. Here your future favorite author.

Jhon survived this because what he was doing didn't last long; if he had continued, the training room would have ended up covered in blood and pieces of him, along with the death of his soul. Let's remember he has unlimited potential, not unlimited adaptation, so while having infinite energy is great, it's not that impressive when your body can't handle it.

But well, he has it now. The path to greatness comes with possibilities, both good and bad. Jhon got lucky and it was good; another person might have died.

....

Setting that aside. I thought that having so few collections (just over 200), I barely had any views per chapter, but no, I checked Inkstone and there are almost 180 effective readers, I'm glad to know that. It's just that they're a bit stingy and there are no power stones.

Give power stones or Elysra will poop on you.

I hope you enjoyed the reading. Have a good start to the day or end of it.
