Chapter 2 - 2. I told the truth

"Hi," he said and sat down next to me. He looked at me. I was standing face to face with James's father. The one who had basically saved me and the one who had grabbed my shirt tightly.

"Are you following me?" I asked him and raised my eyebrows. He smiled and shook his head.

"No.. I went for a walk and found you sitting here alone. I would like to talk to you Daisy but not here.. It's cold,"

"I'm fine here," I whispered and smiled. We agreed on one thing. It was cold outside. There was snow everywhere. I felt incredibly cold.

"No.. We'll go for coffee.. I won't talk to you here, in this winter.. I'm inviting you for coffee and I don't want to hear no," he said and tried to smile. He was a cold man. Without emotions. He was exactly as James had described him to me.

I stood up from my chair. My hands and feet were gradually freezing. The journey to the café didn't take long. We were there in a moment. He probably wanted to talk about what I had done. I sat down on a chair and he ordered a coffee. He was looking at me with a strange look. I saw his brown eyes looking at me.

"I don't regret what I did. I'll do it again whenever I have the chance," I said. I was already warm but I still felt cold on my hands and feet.

"Don't you want to explain it all to me? I didn't know about your existence until today. I didn't know that James had someone. I didn't know about you," he said and sipped the coffee that the waitress had just brought us. I took out my phone and showed him a photo of me and James, back when we were a couple.

,,How long?,,"

,,More than two years. What I said wasn't a lie. I told the truth. Your son is under the influence of alcohol every day. He takes hard drugs.. Haven't you noticed that? Probably not.. I dated him for more than 2 years. In those two years, he couldn't introduce me to his family and always came up with some excuse.. He dragged me around for a year. He cheated on me with my sister Zoe for a year!," I said out loud. His gaze was strange. He showed no signs of emotion. He was an incredibly cold person.

,,You are Mark Fly's daughter.. I know your father,," he whispered

,,I don't care what my parents or you say about it. I told the truth and let everyone know it,,"

,,You should calm down. This is not how problems are solved. If he didn't want you anymore, he had every right to,," he said. It was clear to me that he would stand up for James, his son. I smiled and took a sip of my coffee. Nothing could turn me off today.

"I caught him making out with my sister.. In the room.. Thanks for the coffee.. But you just can't understand," I said and put the money on the table. He grabbed my hand. I felt a strange moment when he touched me.

"Sit down. I'm not done yet," he said. I looked into his eyes and sat back down. I looked at him. I closed my eyes and opened them again a moment later.

"I'm not defending James. What he did wasn't nice.. I heard some bad things from him about you, Daisy.. That's why I'm here. I'm his father. I want to know what's true and what's a lie," he said. I looked at him and took off my jacket. I had a T-shirt under my jacket. I showed him the bruise on my arm. The bruise that James had given me.

"James did this to me. He hit me and it wasn't just once. He hit me several times. I didn't tell anyone. I think I told you everything I needed to say. I lost my job because of him. I don't regret what I told him. I would do it again. Of course, children don't bear the blame for their parents' mistakes. I'm sorry if I damaged your reputation but what I said was based on the truth," I said and put on my jacket. He looked at me and handed me the money that I had put on the table.

"I invited you for coffee and I'll pay for it.. Take them Daisy,"

, "James had a few relationships. Ask those girls if he hit them and I'm sure they'll say he hit them. I told the truth. You don't know a lot about your son and I'm the last person to tell you, but one day you'll find out.. Thanks for the coffee,"

, "I hope we meet again," he whispered. I smiled and walked away. The conversation with him was strange. His father was a very cold man. He showed no signs of emotion. I truly loved James. He was everything to me, but he betrayed me in the worst possible way. The journey home didn't last long. I was looking forward to getting home. To lie down in bed and forget everything. All the problems, all the worries. My phone beeped. It was Zoe. My sister.

@ZoeFly: What you did today is unprecedented.. Dad wants to talk to you and he's pretty angry..

@DaisyFly: I did what I had to do. You have no right to order me Zoe, after the mess you made.

I came to the house. I felt the cold on my hands. It was snowing. It should be the most beautiful time of the year but for me this time was like a nightmare. I knew that I would have hell at home but I gathered courage and opened the door. My dad, my mom and my sister were standing at the door. Dad was angry..

You could say he was foaming. I was aware of the consequences, the consequences of my actions. I took a deep breath and looked at my father. Every time I did something wrong, I would just jump out of it.

"Do you have the courage to come home after everything you've done? James is our Zoe's boyfriend! It's all over the internet, what you said.. Do you realize how this will jeopardize our reputation and his father's reputation?," he screamed loudly and I felt pain on my face. I smiled and looked into his eyes. I wasn't going to give up and be silent, like I always had. Certainly not today. I would tell him everything I've always wanted to tell him. Tonight, it would be the night of truth..
