Chapter Sixty-Seven – The Man Who Arrived Unannounced
The morning had been ordinary, which was probably why it ended the way it did.
Angel had eaten breakfast with the twins on the terrace — something with flatbread and soft cheese and fruit that Faruz had arranged so carefully it looked like a photograph. Malik had eaten everything on his plate without being asked, which was suspicious enough that Angel checked him for a fever. Mara had spent twenty minutes rearranging her fruit into a pattern before eating any of it and saw absolutely nothing strange about this.
Normal morning. Good morning, even.
And then, just before ten, Sarif appeared at the terrace door.
