I lay on the bed of my new room. I don't want to seem ungrateful but this room doesn't really hold up when compared to my last one. The Smell of copper might just kill me before any Kaiju or witch. I don't even have any copies of mariner satellite. I really hope they have some wherever we're going. But if there's one thing that's makes this room ok, it's that this conversation is definitely going to be worse.
"So where do we begin?" Allister asks while lounging at the foot of my bed. He just sort of showed up when I was walking back with Misty. I'm assuming Lancelot brought him along but who knows. Not like I said anything to him. Of course, he's not the only unwelcome face here. A shirtless Satoshi is standing by the door, and Lilith showed up at some point to sit on Mistys shoulder, who herself is sitting on the floor. I don't know why she bothers staying at that size when she can just make herself big. But if I asked there's no way to tell if she's lying so oh well.
"The talking cat would be a good place to start." Satoshi quips. Why do we have to do this here? Isn't this my room? It's meant for me. What are there five people in here?! And I only like one of them right now! I turn to face the wall. "It seems like I was more out of the loop than I thought." He adds with a chuckle.
"Yes, you have been rather disconnected from the larger forces at play. To be frank you bring here is only due to your relationship with Haruo. As tenuous as that relationship might be." Always so matter of fact. Except for when he isn't, then it's all biscuits and fake ninjas.
"Thanks man." That was clearly sarcasm.
"Of course. I have been hoping for a conversation between us for months now. I was tasked with watching over Haruo. I think it's only right that I should meet his older brother.".
"Oh, my baby brother had a bodyguard this whole time? That's news to me. You don't seem to be doing a good job." My brothers voice gets lower, I haven't heard him this serious in a while. Although I was also unconscious for most of that time.
"What's that supposed to mean?" The air gets chilly, or at least it feels like it.
"Because hes MISSING A HORN!!!" To be fair to Allister that wasn't because he failed to protect me. I'm not sure where firing the bullet would compare to that but I don't think he had a lot of options. But then I get another headache and I become less understanding.
"And you stabbed him! Don't act like there's a moral high ground to take here! Your a psycho that would rather fight before he examines a situation! If it wasn't for Louhi teaching him he would have died!" All true. I cover my ears with my pillow but it doesn't do anything.
"O-ok, how about we calm down for a second?" Misty tries to mediate between my brother and a talking cat. Lilith curls up into herself, at least that's what these new senses are telling me. I wish they would stop. No, I don't need to see what the cooks are doing, I have faith in their skills!
"Ok actually I'm confused. Why are you two here? Where even is here? One moment I'm fight some plant guy claiming to be my father and the next minute I'm on a boat." Satoshi calms down a little bit.
"You were fighting one of the heroes apparently. Lancelot said your lucky to be alive. You were hanging on by a thread by the time she got to you. And you kept coming in and out of consciousness for before finally waking up yesterday." It takes about half a minute for my brother to respond to that. He circles the room, running his hand across the wall like it holds the secrets to all that information. But of course it's just a wall and he needs to come to his own conclusions.
"And Lancelot is a witch…".
"Yep.".
"But a good one.".
"Compared to her sisters at least. But the bar is in hell so that doesn't say much." She has a point.
"Ok, but was that monster really my father? He looked just like him. But there's no way he could actually do any of this right?" Oh yeah, he didn't get that whole monologue at the tree. My apathy for that whole thing has settled down, but I've decided that he probably is my dad and it just doesn't matter. Not like he was around anyway. But I can see why Satoshi is having a harder time dealing with it. He has actual memories of our parents.
"He'd know." I absentmindedly gesture to Allister. This is the first time I've said something since I came in here and I didn't plan to say that. But I'm tired of Allister not speaking up about important details. He might not be the most guilty of that but it's still annoying. He looks at me with a look of betrayal and annoyance. I just turn back to the wall.
"Well?" Satoshi asks, his voice sharper than any of his swords. "Mind sharing?" He stands over Allister. In a flash of black he dashes to the door in his human form. By the time I've sat up to look Misty has already caught him. She's pinning him to the ground with an arm to his back. Lilith just floats lazily in the air. It honestly doesn't look like she wants to be here. Both of the tailed fighters struggle for a moment before Allister gives in to his opponent's superior strength. It's only then that I realise that my hand was reaching out. Was I trying to use the wand to help?
"Don't think anyone on this boat has forgotten what you did." Misty warns and twists his wrist for emphasis. His gritted teeth and darting eyes tell me that he's for from pleased, but he does nod in acceptance. Misty slowly gets off of him stands back up. He chooses to revert to cat form and stony on the floor.
"So?" My brother asks impatiently. Allister looks at the floor in what I think might be shame.
"Your father accepted an offer from Morrigan to become one of the necessary heroes. They had to use a horribly evil item to make such a thing possible. For years he's been helping where necessary." There's no way he didn't shift back to a cat to lessen the blow right?
"B-but why would he do that?" He stumbles back until he hits the wall.
"Who knows? I never asked him." He states in a matter of fact tone.
"I'm sorry, but this doesn't change anything. Your dad is still helping the enemy." Misty bluntly says. Satoshi scoffs at her.
"Thanks for your understanding. At least give me a minute." Misty just stands there, her tails swishing left to right. Satoshi stares at her until a realisation clicks. "Not literally!" Oh he was joking? I don't notice.
"Oh, you should have said so.".
"I'm, sorry. Can you guys get out now." I finally speak up. Everyone ends up looking at me, to be fair that was kind of rude. "I need to talk to Lilith alone.".
