Chapter 4 - The Cold Billionaire

Lia accepted before her voice betrayed her. Maybe it was fear, maybe ambition… or maybe something about Leo Grant's intense gaze made it impossible to say no.

"Good," he said simply, as if he expected her answer.

No smile, no warmth, not even a hint of approval.

He walked past her, and the temperature in the room dropped with every step he took. Lia followed him to his desk, walking, as it were, behind a storm in human form.

"Your tasks will be simple," Leo said, tapping a folder on his desk. "Organize my schedule. Filter my messages. Handle correspondence."

Simple? For him? Impossible.

Lia opened the folder and instantly felt dizzy. Meetings stacked every fifteen minutes, e-mails from top executives, international calls, and documents with words she had never seen.

"This… this is for me?" she whispered.

"Is it too much?" His voice was flat, cold, almost taunting.

"N-no. I can do it."

He stared at her for a long moment, as if testing the validity of her words. His face betrayed nothing. It was that sort of face—sharp jawline, sharper eyes, and an aura about him that screamed perfection shall be met.

"You will work closely with me," he said. "Which means no mistakes.

Lia nodded quickly. "Of course, sir."

"And," he said, not looking at her, "whatever happened this morning won't happen again. Understand?"

Her cheeks burned with the memory of her humiliation.

"Yes, Mr. Grant," she whispered.

He finally looked at her—cold, unreadable.

"Good. Then don't disappoint me."

Lia left his office with her heart pounding.

Working with Leo Grant wasn't a promotion.

It was a warning wrapped in ice.
