Chapter 7 - Chapter 7, Vol 1: The new world

Kashka and Aergon walked along the forest path together for a while without saying anything, while the sun slowly but surely set on the horizon.

"So... What's actually going on here? I mean, why are these "witcher Church guys" after me and why did you just save me?" Kashka asked suspiciously.

"Huh? one after the other. So, why is one of the 13 Inquisitors of the Witcher Church on the run from his own people?" Aergon replied respectfully.

"Again! Why does everyone here think that I am one of these "Inquisitors"!? Argh it doesn't make any sense... Maybe I should ask him why he thinks, that I'm I'm one of them..." Kashka thought to himself confused.

"Eh listen... that might sound a bit strange now, but... why do you think I'm an inquisitor?" Kashka asked hesitantly.

Aergon listened very closely to everything he has said and suddelny looked at Kashka in confusion.

"Because of your powerful aura, of course. I mean, you don't even try to hide it. This pulsating black smoke that envelops you would really be immediately recognized by absolutely everyone" Aergon answered in a calm voice.

Aergon's words confused Kashka all the more now because he couldn't see any black smoke around him. Neither has he been able to sense or see any other auras of other people.

"Sorry, but I really have no idea what you mean by aura. I cannot see any black smoke around me, nor can I perceive any other auras. Eh, I'm also not one of those Inquisitors you talk about all the time. what is an aura anyway?" Kashka replied confused.

The next moment, Aergon suddenly stopped and turned to and stared him in his eyes for a moment.

"Strange... You're actually not lying, but this... makes no sense..."

"All right, I'll explain it to you briefly. An aura is a magical manifestation of one's soul. The more powerful the spiritual power of a soul, the more clearly one can perceive an aura. Normally, a person's aura manifests as a faint bright light that envelops the person. In members of the Witcher Church, however, an extremely unpleasant black smoke manifests itself instead. but the reason for this is unknown to me" Aergon said in a calm tone.

"I see, so members of the Witcher Church have an aura of black smoke that I can't see or perceive for whatever reason... Eh, but I'm not a member of the witcher's church. I really don't know why I have this strange aura" Kashka told Aergon sincerely, who listened to him intently with every word.

"By the way, you still haven't answered my question yet. Why did you save me from the Witcher Church?" Kashka continued, whereupon Aergon took a deep breath.

"I thought you would probably ask this... I should probably start from the beginning..."

"How can I best explain it... ah! as I have just told you, I hold the title of the Blessed One. I have this title because the goddess gave me all existing blessings at my birth, which I can use at any time. One of these blessings "Blessing of Dream Vision" allows me to see important future events even before they have happened. Yesterday I had a vision in which you were trapped in an outpost of the anti-cultist group "Kellorth" and surrounded by cultists of the Witcher's Church. I then teleported to 18 different Kellorth outposts until I caught the right one and saved you," Aergon monologed.

Kashka looked very surprised at this information and wasn't quite sure what to replie now.

"Wow, this guy sounds like the ultimate final boss in a fantasy video game. He was even able to kill this "cardinal bishop" of the witcher church within a moment..." Kashka thought to himself as he tried to process all the new informations in his head.

"Before we go any further, I have a question for you. I want you to answer them with absolute honesty, you understand?" Aergon suddenly said with a serious look on his face.

"Eh, sure. I promise I'll be honest" Kashka replied confused.

"Kashka Yukaro, are you an enemy of the witcher church?"

Kashka thought about that question deeply for some moments, whereupon he looked at Aergon and exhaled deeply.

"I can't answer this question with a simple Yes or No. I mean I defenitily don't like them in any way, but I also don't want to fight against these crazy people. I would say that what I want, is to have nothing to do with them ever again." Kashka answered in a clear tone.

When he heard this answer, Aergon smiled contentedly

"That's enough for me. The main thing is that you are not an ally of them. For this reason, I will protect you from now on and hopefully we will find out at the same time what exactly is wrong with you and why you're got this aura" Aergon replied respectfully.

Kashka was very happy with this decision, as he had now found a true ally for the first time since his arrival in the new world...
