Chapter 31 - Chains Eternal

The penthouse was gone. Adrian blinked, but the world around him had shifted. Shadows stretched into corridors of glass and bone, a labyrinth that pulsed with whispers. Bound. Bound.

Elara stood beside him, her gown trailing across the spectral floor. Her hand brushed his, trembling but steady. "We're inside their vision," she whispered. "This is what they mean by forever."

Adrian's jaw tightened. He had built his empire on control, on bending rivals to his will. But here, control was an illusion. The walls themselves breathed, chains coiling from the shadows, wrapping around his wrists.

He tore against them, fury burning. "I won't be their prisoner."

The chains tightened. The whispers rose. Adrian Veyne. Elara. Bound.

Elara staggered back, her eyes wide. "They're showing us a future. A prison made of our love. If we embrace it, we survive—but we'll never be free."

Adrian's breath caught. He had faced rivals, betrayals, collapses. But this—this was war against the unseen, forcing him into a vision where survival meant surrender.

The labyrinth shifted. Reflections shimmered across the walls, each one showing Adrian and Elara together—smiling, broken, chained, free. Every possibility twisted into torment.

Adrian braced himself, fury burning, but fear gnawed at the edges of his certainty. He had chosen love, but now the curse showed him what that choice truly meant: eternity in chains.

And in the reflection, he saw himself—not the empire's ruler, not the man of control, but a figure fading into the faceless crowd, his bond with Elara binding him forever.
