I'm exhausted… I can't do it anymore…
I can't do it…
I'll just… I'll just go to bed…
I start walking towards my house, my trembling legs struggling to carry me across the cobblestone road.
gotta get home… gotta get home…
After what feels like an eternity, I reach my front door and reach for the knob.
I hope my parents are here-
oh…
I forgot…
heh heh… I forgot!
They're dead!
Ha ha ha!
How ironic it is!
I go through hell yet again, only to be greeted with nothing.
Nothing at all.
I have nothing.
Time after time.
Enslavement, the loss of my family,
Only for there to be nothing at the end of the road.
Nothing when I need something most.
I collapse to my knees.
Hunching over the road, and staring at the rocks.
This time, I feel no shame or self-loathing for collapsing.
I just feel… nothing.
I've felt too much.
Now I can't feel anymore.
I don't care that my parents are gone.
I don't care that Dillon is gone.
It's just…
funny.
Everything is funny.
Life is funny.
So I'll just go on with it.
I'll just let everything happen, and see how far I can get.
My tears seem to stop.
I stand up and walk to the shop from before…
and just move on.
I open the door
"Hello, do you purchase non-gear items?"
The jolly man from before looks up at me just like he did the first time.
"We sure do! What do ya have to sell?"
I open my inventory and read my items out loud.
"A level 5 golem core and a level 7 golden nugget."
The old man scratches his chin upon hearing this.
"Can I see them?"
"of course"
I grab the items from my inventory and set them down on the counter in front of the man.
"Hm, I could get ya 5 silver pieces for the golem core, and 2 gold pieces from that gold nugget"
I thought it would be more,,,
"sure"
The man smiled, then he digs into the back room and comes out with a pouch of coins.
"Here ya go! Would you like to spend this money on something here?"
He places the pouch onto the counter.
"No thanks"
I take the pouch and put it into my inventory and make my way towards the front door.
The man waves goodbye
"ok! See ya later!"
I wave back and open the door, walking out onto the street.
I'm hungry, tired, and injured.
Which one should I fix first?
I contemplate where I should go.
After a minute, I decide to go to the doctor.
…
(Two hours later)
I exit the hospital with bandages around my torso.
I also emptied the hospital's snacks.
Anyway, I still have some coins left over, so I guess I can still go to that shop and get some gear.
i…
stop it…
just leave me alone…
I've already been tortured enough.
I fight against my painful thoughts and enter the shop.
"Change of plans."
The man looks up at me from his book as usual.
"I'd like to get some gear"
