Chapter 3 - Lila

Lila walks slowly to her class, unworried that she'll be late. The professor doesn't care much and honestly neither does Lila. She wasn't really all for attending college, but of course, her parents decided otherwise. She hated it. How they decided everything about her life. She wanted to get away from her family right after high school and explore the world, she had the money, she could do it, but again, and again what she wanted was ignored. She went crazy then, like something snapped out of place. She left and took nothing with her but her phone, one of the cars, a credit card with enough money to last her a lifetime and immediately applied and got accepted into one of the worst known public colleges around. That infuriated her parents, quite like she had hoped, but they couldn't say anything to her. She was attending college like they requested. Afterwards she made sure to sleep around and skip classes, keep bad fiends, and make bad choices. She was originally friends with Stacey only for her mischievous and troublemaking behavior. She had refused to make friends with Camrin, who she saw as a very academically achieving student, too tame and boring for her purposes. But life always pulls you into situations you'd never believe, and soon Lila's connection with these two students grew and with that her understanding did as well. After getting to know Stacey and Camrin, it hit Lila how quick she judged them and the way she confined them in a box. They had emotions, feelings thoughts, and loved ones. Lila will never forget what they did for her, how they pulled her out of that dark place she never realized she was in. They stopped her from ruining her life completely to quench the fire of anger and hurt inside her heart. Her insides filled with a warmth that quickly dissipated as soon her phone rang with her mother's caller ID. She signs, pulls herself together and answers.

"Hey mom"

"That is not how you address your mother"

"I don't know what you're talking about"

"Lila, I bet you to not be difficult every time we talk. I appreciate your change in behavior this past year, though the initial tantrum was childish and unneces-"

"What did you call me for" Lila's hearts clenches, but she reminds herself that's how they've always been.

"Your father and I have been talking lately and..."

"Yes?" Lila tries to listen but her whole body is shaking. What is going on? Even when her parents did this, she never felt this strong of a reaction. Her mother continued talking not knowing what Lila is going through. Her daughter swayed on the other end, dizzy and confused she tried to sit on the floor, her body burning with heat.

"And I think it would be really good for you to change-"

A thump sounds on the other side of the phone and her mother pauses

"Lila?"

"Lila are you there?"

"Lila?"

"Look please don't get upset and hang up."

"I just want the best for you"

"Lila!"

But nobody answers. And right beside the fallen phone, there was a body of a young girl, Lila, in an abandoned area of the school Lila didn't realize her legs were taking her to. Then....nothing. Lila's mother hangs up, and Lila stays planted on the floor
