Chapter 4 - Trial by Blood

The streets of London were alive with a sinister rhythm, shadows stretching long and jagged beneath the dim lanterns. Carl moved silently alongside Seras, the pulse of his new power still thrumming in his veins. Every step resonated with confidence now, yet a thrill of anticipation stirred within him. Tonight, he would face his first true test—a vampire whose name was whispered even among the Hellsing operatives.

"Are you ready?" Seras asked, her voice low, betraying the slightest hint of worry. She fell just behind him, her eyes flicking sideways, sharp and observant.

Carl nodded, smirking. "I've been ready since the moment I arrived."

They reached the abandoned warehouse where reports had spoken of a vampire preying on the outskirts of the city. The air inside was thick, cloying with the scent of decay. Shadows shifted unnaturally, and Carl's instincts flared.

A hulking figure emerged, taller than any vampire he had seen before, its eyes glowing a lethal crimson. Its fangs gleamed under the flickering lights.

"Impressive," Alucard's voice suddenly echoed from the shadows above, startling them both. "But this is only the beginning. Let's see how far you can stretch… your limits."

Carl tensed, understanding the implied challenge. Alucard always pushed—not to teach mercy, but to reveal the raw strength hidden within.

The vampire lunged. Carl moved like lightning, dodging and countering with his newfound speed and strength. Every strike he delivered shook the warehouse, every blow releasing the kind of power that made even seasoned hunters pause.

Seras was at his side, but this time her role shifted. She parried and struck, but her eyes never left Carl. Subtle tension radiated from her—her proximity more deliberate than necessary. When a vampire claw grazed his shoulder, she grabbed his arm instinctively, pressing against him, her body heat igniting an undeniable spark.

"You're reckless," she whispered, though her tone carried both warning and… something else.

Carl grinned, adrenaline and arousal mingling. "You like it."

Seras' cheeks flushed, but she didn't pull away. The vampire roared, closing in again, but Carl's senses sharpened beyond human limits. With a sudden surge, he unleashed a burst of raw energy, sending the creature flying across the room, cracking beams and shattering glass. The warehouse trembled under the force.

Breathing heavily, Carl turned to see Seras pressed against a wall, watching him with awe and something unspoken—a mixture of admiration and desire. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her hands lingering just a fraction too long on his arms as she steadied herself.

"Careful," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're… intense."

Carl smirked, moving closer. "Intense enough for you?"

She looked up, startled by the proximity. Their faces were inches apart. The air between them felt electric. Before she could answer, Alucard's shadow fell across them.

"Balance strength with control, Carl," Alucard intoned, his eyes gleaming. "Your power is magnificent, but unchecked, it can destroy more than your enemies."

Carl nodded, understanding both the warning and the lesson. But inside, he felt exhilaration—a rush of power, desire, and thrill mingled together.

The vampire, battered but alive, scrambled to its feet. Seras moved to his side, pressing lightly against him again, a subconscious shield of intimacy. Carl's heart raced—not just from combat, but from the tension that had been steadily building between them.

With a single, decisive strike, he ended the creature, its body disintegrating into shadowy mist. The warehouse fell silent. Only the sound of their breathing filled the void.

Seras finally stepped back, though reluctantly. "You're… unbelievable," she murmured, her voice a mixture of admiration and something deeper, more intimate.

Carl smiled faintly, feeling the pull of his power, the magnetic tension with Seras, and the shadow of Alucard's scrutiny. "And this is just the beginning," he said.

The night outside seemed to lean closer, alive with possibility and danger. For Carl, each challenge was no longer just about survival—it was about mastery, desire, and the intoxicating thrill of testing limits.
