Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The City of Science and the Electric Field

I. Landing in Academy City

The dimensional portal spat the team out into a world of glass and steel. Unlike the other realms, this one didn't smell of filth, monsters, or sweets; it smelled of ozone and high technology.

They landed on a deserted rooftop with a view of the futuristic Academy City. Ultra-thin skyscrapers stretched to the horizon, and security drones floated silently, scanning the area.

"Environmental analysis: This plane is the most orderly we have encountered," Kaguya reported, holding the Anchor's containment sphere. "Energy is classified. There is no Mana, no Magic. Only an organized force: Esper or science-based psychic powers. And the levels are impressive."

"It feels... empty. As if it lacks a soul," Erza murmured, adjusting her combat armor, her eyes fixed on the drones.

Kagura, looking bored, stretched her limbs. "Too clean. I want to punch a robot!"

"Look, Kagura! A free capsule machine!" Goku shouted, pointing at a malfunctioning dispenser, already poised to smash it open.

Tatsumaki floated higher, sensing the city's vast electromagnetic field. "This 'Science' is just poorly classified telekinesis. It's irritating and noisy."

"The Anchor is hidden in a high-level underground research complex. The location coincides with a massive energy source. They call it the Quark Generator," Kaguya said, pointing toward a spot in the center of the city.

II. The Railgun Unleashed

The presence of unclassified energies (Ki, Mana, and Giga-Tera level Telekinesis) did not go unnoticed. Academy City's systems reacted instantly.

A silent alarm was triggered, and a squad of security robots headed for their location. But before they arrived, the greatest threat manifested.

On a nearby building, a brown-haired girl in a school uniform—the Third-Ranked Level 5 of Academy City, Mikoto Misaka—felt the disturbance.

"What the hell is that reading? It's stronger than Accelerator and Kakine combined! It's not a clone, it's not magic... It's an attack!" Misaka shouted.

Misaka leapt into the void, and mid-air, she unleashed her power. Orange and blue lightning crackled around her.

"Railgun!" she screamed.

She fired a coin (a metallic dart on this occasion) charged with an electromagnetic current. The coin accelerated to three times the speed of sound, leaving an electric trail and aiming directly at the center of the rooftop.

"A fast attack! Reminds me of one of Frieza's strikes!" Goku exclaimed, excited.

Goku simply extended two fingers. When the electromagnetic dart was only centimeters from his face, a tiny sphere of pure Ki caught it. The coin stopped in mid-air, vibrating furiously, unable to advance or explode, before finally falling harmlessly to the ground.

Misaka was in shock. Her most powerful attack, stopped by a simple man with spiky hair using two fingers.

"Impossible! That's the force of a nuclear strike! Who the hell are you?" Misaka landed, surrounded by an electric field that sent sparks flying.

III. Duel of Psychics: Misaka vs. Tatsumaki

Misaka assumed Goku was the leader and the primary threat. However, her attention was diverted by an even more irritating challenge.

Tatsumaki, annoyed by the noisy interruption, floated toward Misaka with an expression of absolute disdain.

"Are you the source of all this electric noise? You're just a brat using a tiny battery. And your attack was slow. Learn from the professionals!"

"Battery?! I'm the Railgun! I'm going to fry your brain, you arrogant brat!" Misaka fumed.

Misaka launched a high-voltage lightning bolt from her arm toward Tatsumaki.

Tatsumaki didn't even flinch. Misaka's electricity was pure organized kinetic energy, and Tatsumaki could manipulate anything with mass or energy.

Using her Telekinesis, Tatsumaki wrapped the bolt and, with a swift flick, redirected it toward the building behind Misaka. The bolt hit a transformer, causing an explosion of sparks and black smoke.

"Useless! You lack the elegance of Ki. You're just a noisy lightbulb," Tatsumaki said with a huff.

Misaka, feeling her pride trampled, prepared to unleash her most massive attack: manipulating the iron sand in the ground to create an electromagnetic steel whip.

As the duel of psychic powers (or Espers) heated up, a magical shadow appeared in the alleyway below.

IV. The Magic Shadow and the Anchor

The Railgun's attack had created enough chaos for a third player to enter the scene.

"This is a blessing. The Espers are busy killing each other," muttered a man in robes adorned with magical symbols—a Magician from "God's Right Seat" (or Necessarius/The Magic Side), who had tracked the Anchor's energy.

The Magician had crossed dimensions due to a rift in the barriers, seeking an artifact of power. He saw the group of travelers.

"Damn Magicians! They're here!" Erza shouted, drawing her sword. The magic blade reacted instinctively to the Magician's dark Mana.

The Magician raised his staff. "The law of magic is what prevails! Give us the dimensional Anchor! Dragon Scale Typhoon!"

A whirlwind of air and green magic rose from the alley, slamming into the rooftop. The air became dense and corrosive, aiming to disintegrate armor and Ki alike.

The fight had transformed into three-dimensional chaos:

Science (Misaka) vs. Psychic (Tatsumaki): On the rooftop, a battle of wills and strength.

Magic (Magician) vs. Ki/Mana/Steel (Goku, Erza, Megumin): The Magician aimed to steal the Anchor.

"A Magician, here! This is not a good place for an Explosion!" Megumin shouted, frustrated.

"Don't worry! I'll handle it!" Goku smiled, ready to unleash an attack against the magical typhoon.
