All characters in the game Oblivion Gate operated under the same fundamental class system.
This applied to Players, NPCs, Elite Monsters, and even the Bosses of the Nine Gates of Helldusk.
In theory, if a player met the requirements, even the they could build the same class path as a Boss Monster.
[Umbra Sovereign], [Red Apostle], and [Primordial Warden] were essentially exclusive classes held by the Bosses of the Nine Gate of Helldusk.
However, this "exclusive" status wasn't because the classes were locked, but because almost no other character in the game possessed them.
Of course, players were an exception.
From the two special classes Saelran originally planned to acquire, he had initially wanted the special class [Bloodborn Sentinel].
Unfortunately, he had forgotten that this class required tools and conditions completely impossible for him to obtain right now.
Unlike in the game, where you could choose your race during Character Creation, changing one's race in reality was practically impossible.
Saelran's race had already been set as human.
In other words, this special class had a racial prerequisite.
As for the other class…
[Primordial Warden] was a class suitable for large-scale crowd control and massive offense. However, Saelran felt that obtaining it would be too conspicuous and reveal too many clues about his identity.
As for [Red Apostle]…
Saelran had never obtained this class before, and he didn't actually know the requirements to acquire it.
But in the game, two characters possessed this class: Vesveria Redthorn and Bellatrix, the Goddess of Death.
Both were women.
Saelran couldn't help but suspect that this was a special class only obtainable by females.
With this information in mind, Saelran initially never considered attempting to obtain [Red Apostle].
But since "Priestess" had appeared, it was very likely he had gained some kind of "female-character enhancement."
Because of that, he might actually be able to acquire the special class [Red Apostle].
"The structure of [Red Apostle] is far clearer than that of [Primordial Warden]," Saelran murmured.
He took a deep breath, recalling the information about the special class [Red Apostle] while kneeling and tracing the ground with his finger.
As one of the two Boss Monsters who appeared most frequently in the game—aside from Gurath Goat Govenant—Vesveria naturally had the most revealed information.
Her level structure was:
Racial Level 20 + Job Level 80 = Total Level 100.
Her attribute table showed three classes:
Red Apostle Lv 5, Blood Knight Lv 5, and Priestess Lv 10.
Besides that, Saelran was also certain that Vesveria possessed both the Fire Mage and Bloodlust classes.
When you fought her in the game, she would always open with Firebind Chain, a spell that inflicted DoT and restricted movement for a few seconds—a signature spell from the Intermediate-tier Fire Mage class.
Then, during battle, whenever the player was hit by one of her attacks, the blood-splatter damage visual would trigger a faint red aura around Vesveria's body.
This aura increased her ATK and SPD, exactly like the Bloodlust passive Sanguine Surge.
And the longer this passive stayed active, the more chaotic Vesveria's attack patterns became.
You could say this instability was the negative side effect of the Bloodlust class.
In Oblivion Gate, classes with negative effects were usually Advance-tier classes whose weaknesses served as balancing constraints.
Therefore:
Red Apostle Lv 5
Blood Knight Lv 5
Priestess Lv 10
Bloodlust Lv 5
Fire Mage Lv 10
These were all the classes Saelran knew Vesveria possessed—totaling 25 levels, still leaving 55 unaccounted for.
The information seemed insufficient, making a definitive conclusion impossible.
But—!
"I'm a science student, okay?!" Saelran grinned, excitement flooding his expression like he'd returned to his puzzle-solving days.
He circled two classes on the ground.
First, he set aside [Red Apostle]. [Priestess] was a basic class and needed no further thought.
Next…
He didn't know much about [Bloodlust], so he set it aside for now.
That left two Advance-tier classes, each of which should logically have prerequisite classes.
Following the logic of mathematical deduction by plugging in the unknowns, he could forcefully derive the known values.
Basic Warrior (?) Lv 15 → Intermediate Warrior (?) Lv 10 → Blood Knight Lv 5 = 30 levels
Basic Magic Caster (?) Lv 15 → Fire Mage Lv 10 → Advanced Mage (?) Lv 5 = 30 levels
Thus, the total became:
Lv 60 + Red Apostle Lv 5 + Bloodlust Lv 5 + Priestess Lv 10 = 80 levels.
Exactly level 80 for these classes.
Suddenly, Vesveria's information became strikingly clear.
The Advance-tier class Bloodlust was a unique racial job exclusive to vampires.
And among these professions, the one that stood out the most was the basic class Priestess.
The other character who possessed the special class [Red Apostle] was the Sacred Kingdom's Goddess of Death.
She had a total level of 87, placing her among the top of the world level-wise. Yet her class structure was extremely chaotic.
A mix of Warrior, Thief, and Faith-based Magic Caster classes made her actual combat performance far inferior to other characters at her level.
Furthermore, her special class "Low-tier Red Apostle" was essentially a degraded version of the true Red Apostle.
This was likely because she did not meet the true prerequisites, resulting in a phenomenon only NPCs or special characters could experience.
For instance, Advance-tier jobs like Ninja, normally requiring level 60 could be obtained simply by learning the corresponding skills.
But special classes were different; their prerequisites were extremely strict.
Saelran speculated that the Goddess of Death had acquired the job indirectly due to her innate abilities, but because of the strict requirements, she only obtained a compromised version.
After all, the game never explained how she obtained this class.
The only shared class between Vesveria and the Goddess of Death was Priestess.
This made perfect sense for a hero of the Sacred Kingdom… but Vesveria was an undead vampire.
An undead vampire with a Priestess class that didn't fit her race and she hadn't even maxed it.
Then there was her mid-tier Fire Mage class, which could theoretically help overcome the undead weakness to fire… but using 10 levels just for that?
The only explanation for both classes was that they served as prerequisites.
Saelran's eyes sparkled with delight as he slammed his palm onto the ground.
"Got you, [Red Apostle]!"
According to Saelran's understanding, the concept of "Red Apostle" represented blood, flame, and sanctity.
Red symbolized flowing blood and blazing fire, while Apostle meant a sacred envoy or bearer of divine will.
In short, the class was a holy envoy of blood and fire.
War.
The Goddess of Death was also known as the Goddess of War.
But let's set that background aside for now.
The class requirements for [Red Apostle] were most likely:
female, basic-class Priestess, Intermediate-tier Fire Mage, and Advance-tier Blood Knight.
"Phew~"
Saelran dusted his hands off, exhaling deeply as he rubbed his foot across the messy writing in his native language.
Even though no one in this world could read those characters, it was always better to be cautious.
"The Advance-tier class 'Blood Knight,' according to the game's rules, not only required level 60 or above but also certain job prerequisites," Saelran said.
"However, based on the job system for characters, one could obtain Advance-tier classes simply by learning the required skills first."
Saelran braced himself on his knee, then stood up, patting the dirt from his clothes.
"If I remember correctly, there's someone in the Jarahat Empire who has the Blood Knight class."
As for someone with the Fire Mage class, Saelran had already met that person.
Knowing the prerequisites for a special class—even if he wasn't fully certain—at least gave him the chance to try.
Saelran felt a weight lift from his chest.
"The person in the Jarahat Empire isn't going anywhere. So the first thing I need to do is get the Intermediate Fire Mage class, level up, then head to the Jarahat Empire to obtain the Advance-tier class Blood Knight."
With a clear goal, Saelran rose without hesitation and made his way toward the Adventurer's Guild.
