Chapter 5 - Detention for thoughts

The flight to Japan had been quite smooth.

Sienna sank into the plush seat of her transfer car, exhaling a sigh that carried more relief than she expected. No work calls. No emergencies. No beeping monitors—just quiet.

She looked out the window, watching the streetlights flicker past. A rare sense of calm enveloped her.

Soon, the car pulled up to the hotel. Sienna was quickly given the key to her room. She reached her room and was pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful it was.

The faint scent of lavender greeted her, and the soft lighting cast warm shadows across the walls.

Floor-to-ceiling windows framed a skyline glittering in the evening light. The large bed in the center looked cozy and inviting. She ran her hand across the silky sheets and smiled, feeling a rare bubble of happiness rise in her chest.

Should I…?

She couldn't resist.

With a grin, she jumped onto the bed and plopped down.

This bed is so cozy… another minute and I'll drift right off.

After a while, she made her way to the bathroom, deciding a long, warm bath was exactly what she needed.

Sienna waited for the bathtub to fill and, in the meantime, decided to play some music. As soon as the tub was full, she sank into the warm water. The bath salts and body wash combined to fill the room with a wonderful fragrance.

A WR5 song shuffled onto her playlist. She hummed along, swaying unconsciously. But when Noran's part came, she froze mid-hum.

His voice—it always caught her off guard.

So good. So… alive.

And then it hit her again—this mesmerizing, wildly talented man was her patient.

Her chest tightened as professional instincts twisted admiration into worry.

Why doesn't he take care of himself? Why ignore advice when it's so risky?

She sank deeper into the bathwater, letting the warmth soak through her skin.

It's ridiculous… I'm thinking about my patient like this.

But still, she couldn't stop.

Maybe one day, I hope he'll learn to trust me—and himself—enough to take care of his health.

Meanwhile, Noran was unpacking in his own room.

He carefully arranged his clothes and checked them again. He adjusted the cuff of his jacket, then ran a hand through his hair.

The concert was to begin the next day, and he already felt the excitement buzzing beneath his skin, tingling in his fingers.

After a while, he decided to watch something on his phone and relax a bit. In between, he looked for his e-cigar, mindlessly bringing it to his lips—but stopped mid-motion.

Her voice echoed in his head:

"Mr. Noran, smoking is officially off your list."

"Don't even think about it."

She sounds like a strict schoolteacher—one who'd give you detention for even thinking about breaking the rules.

That sharp, scolding glare. Those bike-headlight eyes.

He frowned—then smiled.

She's annoying… but why can't I stop picturing her glaring at me like that?

With a smirk, he set the cigar down, feeling a tiny tug of guilt… along with something dangerously close to fondness.

"That crazy doctor", he muttered under his breath, shaking his head. Yet the smile lingered.

Back in her room, Sienna had finished her bath and slid into the cozy hotel sheets. She set her phone on the nightstand, thoughts drifting over the day's travel and the upcoming concert. The faint hum of the city below reached her ears.

"I hope everything goes smoothly at the concert," she murmured, closing her eyes.

The room fell silent, the city lights twinkling outside.

And just as sleep began to come to her—her phone buzzed sharply.

Half-asleep, she fumbled for it. The screen lit up her face.
